Even when catering for the budget traveler, I expect a hanger and hook in every room, if not a closes rack. And though shared bath rooms was the booked class, a towel should come with the room. The bed was clean and comfortable. The only chair, by contrast, grimy and I did not want to use it even as a bag rack. The shared bathrooms would need a re-paint as a minimum. To employ the classical two faucet system at the sink is ridiculous in the 21 century: either you burn your fingers or freeze them off - ok in one other bathroom, there were more modern ones. The only good points: friendly and efficient staff and a good location - but then there are heaps of other budget/backpackers ' facilities in the area. They can't be much worse.
This is a budget hotel with good location near Queens Street. Unfortunately our room was not cleaned as promised by reception. Wifi was also limited despite what the reception told us. Minimal amenities.
As far as hostels/budget accommodation, this is clean and basic. The front desk is manned 24 hours, and the double rooms with ensuites offer some amenities (towels, kettle, coffee and tea etc). The location is great as it is walking distance from the downtown corridor. The underground parking space is small. We had an intermediate SUV which was a tight fit. The rooms don't have A/C but we had a fan so it was manageable. No elevators, so it was a workout carrying our bags up 2 flights. Overall, a comfortable stay, as we got what we expected.
We stayed for two nights at Jucy Snooze for a concert at Spark Arena. After checking in we found that the room we were allocated had not been serviced after the last guests had left. This was dealt with quickly and efficiently, we had absolutely no problems with the staff member, he was most apologetic. The good stuff: great location, parking available, good sized rooms, very little road noise. The bad stuff: the place is grubby, not filthy but grubby, no mattress protectors just a sheet on the mattress. Everything needs a really good clean. The drinking glasses were caked in something yucky. The place has so much going for it but is let down by the lack of cleaning which is a pity. With rooms equipped with very little (and that's not a complaint, they have everything you need) they should be quick and easy to clean.
I stayed at Jucy for one night, it stated on booking.com that there is a car park on the property however when we got there no parking was available leaving us having to pay to park in a car park- this really upset our trip as we have to keep returning to the car park to add new tickets- not the relaxing break I hoped for. The accomadation was nice but the listing on booking.com needs changing as they know they have limited parking.
Decent price, basic hotel with a fab location - about 10min walk to main water front. Great eateries and bars pretty much on the doorstep. Laundry service offered too which was ready the following day.
This is a typical decent hostel, not worth staying with my girlfriend even being in a room with a private bathroom. The facilities are very simple and the room and bathroom are to be desired. The bed was horrible, any movement made some spring jump and hit hard against the body. We spent the cold even with the window closed, since there was a gap through which the cold wind came. The service at the front desk was okay and the hotel is fairly well located. But maybe a little more investment you get to stay in a better hotel.
This is my second time I stay here and this time they gave me an upgrade, really happy with this place. I talked to different staff and they were all very friendly. Amenities are good. Price is low for this nice hostel. Main attractions (Sky Tower, pier, bus stops) are reachable by foot.
Reception staff was friendly when we first arrived; room was clean and neat and tidy, no complaints whatsoever. Plus point is that the place is near city area, super recommended place to stay!!!!!! :)
Stayed on the night of 10th October. I Checked in at 9.00pm after a 3 hour exhausting drive to Auckland. After The guy behind the desk took my payment for the room he then asked for my license which i had forgot. HE THEN ASKED ME TO LEAVE AND THAT I WILL NOT BE CHECKING IN. I have stayed here many times before and my profile was even on the system. Obviously this staff member is not trained in reading let alone customer service. He then apologized to another guest for my behavior which was not in all disruptive. Its a shame one staff member can ruin the reputation of the place but this was beyond rude and as management I would hope you act fast on this before you get many more negative reviews. You would get better service at a one star hostel down the road. This place has sunk. I'm ashamed that I have recommended Jucy to people before.
