A wonderful place to visit with a group or as a couple! Can't fault the amenities and the service. A special mention to the wonderful John and the incredible Sam. You guys made this experience fabulous for us all. Breakfast and pre dinner drinks and canapés were amazing! We were all pampered and felt very special the whole time. PS the standard of cleanliness and the linen service was beyond amazing!!! Thank you delamore, we will see you again!!
As a getaway for my partners birthday, this was the best experience by far. Past birthdays have been overseas but this year work commitments dictated a domestic special treat. Delamore lodge exceeded my expectations from the minute I stepped off the ferry from Auckland. People have different views about luxury experiences. Delamore offers understated luxury with attentive bespoke service. The room was beautiful and captured the best of the view and maintained privacy. The bed comfortable and luxurious. The amenities were great. We have the dinner with Brian. Which was fantastic. Food amazing coupled with excellent service. Nothing to fault. A partnership of Luxury and value. Having read other reviews I think some must have stayed at a different place. All I can say to end is thank you for making this birthday difficult to surpass. As I write we have one more day at Delamore. It will be a wrench to leave.
This was such a disappointing place. We had been looking forward to a treat after traveling around NZ for a month. Unfortunately it was easily the worst place we stayed. Firstly we were fighting mosquitoes all night. The a/c points directly at the head of the bed, so we couldn't really crank it up to freeze them out. The walls have the tell-tale signs of many squashed mossies on the conveniently dark wall paint. There was no a/c in the second bedroom and the kids were eaten alive. Having a look next day for where they were hiding or nesting I found quite poor hygiene in the room - dirty corners and cobwebs on the walls. Secondly, we had the the very expensive dinner in the hotel - it was very poor. We were served duck with some pate on the plate. We asked for some bread with the pate and were given partially defrosted supermarket bread. My kids were served very undercooked chicken. It was visibly raw. The waiter apologised but nothing else. On checkout I asked if the manager had heard about it - she hadn't. She offered a small reduction in the price of the kids meal ( I think ten original price was $75). Just before we left we were told that actually the chef said it wasn't raw there was just a burst blood vessel. And that only one of my kids hadn't eaten it. This was simply a lie and quite beside the point. The pool is absolutely tiny. The two stars are for the views.
If you are going to Waiheke (and you must go to Waiheke - it's simply beautiful), stay at the Delamore Lodge. The views are spectacular, and the food and wine are even better (if that's possible). Hospitality is fantastic too.
Wife and I just arrived from a long day's travel from the USA the 3rd week of March 2017. Took the Half Moon Bay car ferry over (a pleasure -try their "cheese and onion toasties" they're delicious), and were really delighted with my choice to splurge and stay here at the Delamore Lodge. Concierge Angie was a delight with checking us in. She was also very responsive and helpful via email with our planning and booking here. Loved our room with stunning views. Exactly as advertised. Comfortable, clean and updated. That's what we like. Where this small boutique lodge shines and I was pleased to discover is the level of quality of the food that the staff 5 star chef Brian provides. A true gourmet breakfast is included in the rate. We decided to reserve in advance his dinner with wine pairings for our first night of arrival. Wife has Celiac, and that presented no trouble here for her meal's adjustments. Wow, what a wonderful dinnerl! Intimate and just wonderful presentation, flavor, and quality....this was a memorable meal, and I highly recommend you take advantage of this as my photos tell all. It was like having your own staff 5 star chef prepare your superb meal and served as if you were having it in your luxury home. Wife and I also ordered massages the next morning which were excellent and recommended as well. They have an oversized clean indoor jetted spa that I used and enjoyed. The attractive infinity outdoor pool was appealing and even though it was heated, it wasn't quite warm enough for my preference as the weather was getting chilly and rainy at night for Autumn. And I really can't fault it for not being warm enough considering the current chill. We decided to try a bit of hiking on the coastal trails surrounding the lush and beautiful property. Loved being able to drive our rental car around Waiheke, seeking out wineries to taste responsibly and have orders shipped back home. Waiheke is an easy to navigate island, and well worth exploring and driving to the more remote areas on the other side.. We had lunch at Mudbrick and a dinner at Cable Bay Vineyard, which were both quite good just a little too intensely touristy....but all in all I regret not having that second night's dinner prepared intimately just for us by chef Brian. That's a luxury travel feature I value greatly. We would definitely recommend the Delamore Lodge to all, and we would certainly stay here again in the future. This visit was a highlight memory during our wonderful 18 day trip though NZ.
This is luxury at its finest: extravagance, comfort and class without the pretension. My wife were guests at this establishment a few months ago, and it is truly one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at. Beautiful rooms with picturesque views, punctuated with professional yet personable staff and custom gourmet meals, made this one of the highlights of our vacation. Whenever people ask us if we prefer the North or the South island, our pleasant memories of Delamore Lodge and Waiheke Island give us serious pause. Wholeheartedly recommended.
This is a cut above; architecture, location, aspect, bay and gulf views from Auckland to Little Barrier, Great Barrier and Coromandel. Well appointed superior suites with everything required. And nice little touches like milk in a little milk bottle (rather than a UHT PCU). Service and attitudes were great, it's somewhat like sharing an expansive, high quality residence with friends, but the friends look after you.
We had 2 nights in the Moana suite which is absolutely beautiful. The views from all the suites and the living areas of the lodge are world class and you have to pinch yourself that you are here. Go to their website because what you see is what you get. The architecture is Mediterranean and the luxury lodge is set into the hillside. Swimming in the wet edge pool overlooking the ocean is a must. However can get crowded if all the guests want to use the pool at the same time as there is only enough lounges for 3 couples at any one time. Eddy is wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. The owner takes you to your room and then you don't see her again which is very different from other luxury lodges we have stayed but I guess is good if you want absolutely privacy. Like most lodges you usually click with one other couple which makes for terrific holiday experiences. The library needs some urgent attention as this is the kind of place you just want to sit around with a good book and relax and take in the views. Breakfast in the downstairs dining room is great however we didn't partake in the dinner option as we thought it overpriced at just under $200 each plus drinks. Pre dinner drinks and canapés are served on the terrace which was absolutely delightful. Many delightful vineyards in the area. We tried Mudbrick which was very nice and again great views.
For that kind $$$$ better be amazing place ... and lodge and pool was . The guest room was bit tired furnishing a wee bit on Lower end for price . But view / location and overall property were top notch. Just a little older ... But luxury properties are About service ...The guys , Eddie and Sam were like having your own staff , no request too big or couldn't be managed . Both worked long hours, so I expect might burnout and move on , but if they still there, Delamore is worth the price. If not maybe not . Small high end hotels in NZ has become very small but profitable niche market . Catering to guests who stay and use to Four Seasons level of service ... Guests when we were there had or were Staying at NZ top small Inns .Where does Delamore rank ? We didn't see anything better in Waiheke, but shade below Some rest . Eagles nest in Russell , Eden in Nelson , eichearts in Queenstown , But with Sam the " make everything Work guy " and Eddie the chef ( former boat chef ) you felt very pampered . Infinity pool was small but had breath taking view ... Delamore Lodge worth a look . Best wishes to guys!!
A group of us were fortunate to stay at the lodge for friends 40th birthday...wow what a treat...this place is truly A-MAZ-ING...! We stayed in both the two bedroom apartment and a couple of separate rooms - so essentially had the entire place to ourselves. The "cave like" spa / sauna area was something like I've never seen before - so don't forget your bikini. The pool area / view was as like a postcard unfortunately due to weather conditions I didn't get to take a dip :-( Waking up and enjoying the most incredible breakfast EVER...lost count of how many delectable fruits were on offer...this was just for starters we were also offered a hot cooked breakfast however there simply wasn't enough room...!! If you get the opportunity to stay in this gorgeous place go for it.
