Convenient to downtown and ferries. Great restaurant Lord Nelson pub right around the corner

Location There is no housekeeping and breakfast is terrible !!!

We stayed on the very top floor and had the beautiful views of Auckland and the tower .. there are a lot of constructions going on the streets, the hotel is a few steps from shopping strip.. love our stay .. we have our own kitchen, laundry stuff .. the room is warm, no AC but they provide portable AC which is sometimes not enough to keep the room cool.. we would stay here again

Nice suite in downtown Auckland. Close to everything.

I really wanted to like this property - but with multiple fails, I just couldn't. The room came with a portable cooler / heater, which was incredibly noisy and located as far away from the bedroom as possible. Even with keeping the door to the bedroom open, the warm (it was never hot) air didn't reach the bedroom, and I woke up multiple times with cold hands. The internet service allowed exactly one device to be logged on at a time - impractical for a room for 2 people. The worst part of the stay, though, and one of the primary reasons for booking, was the washer/dryer. I did a very small load of laundry, followed the instructions in the manual, and after the 3-4 hour cycle the laundry was still very, very damp. I called the front desk late at night (11?), and nobody answered. I googled the manual online (on my one device that was connected to wi-fi), confirmed the instructions, and tried drying my clothes for another hour. Still wet. Dried them one more hour. Still wet. Tried just drying one t-shirt, one pair of socks, and one pair of underwear overnight. Woke up and they were still wet. Called again, no answer. When I went to check out, with my wet laundry in my suitcase for my 14 hour flight home, I was going to let them know the dryer wasn't working. There were *9* people waiting in the lobby and nobody at the front desk. Another guest just looked at me and shrugged his arms. I dropped my key in the "express check out" box and left disgusted.

This was a great location next to Sky Tower, a casino and tons of restaurants. The suite is spacious and has a nice full kitchen with dishes and everything you need. Very convenient washer/dryer for doing laundry as well. Very happy with our stay and would stay there again.

Great hotel with great location. Staff went out of their way to be nice. Rooms comfortable and for the most part clean. The only 2 negatives I could share is the rooms were hot and they provide a portable AC Unit in the Living room that was totally inadequate, it rarely worked. Had to leave the windows open and if it’s had not been cool outside I would have checked out early and went to another location and they are aware of this and haven’t addressed the issue apparently. Second which is beyond the hotels control is Hugh Construction Project across the street which was crazy loud

The check-in was very efficient. When we checked out, the hotel staff stored our luggage for us as we had a late evening flight. After concluding our sightseeing, we returned to the hotel, picked up our luggage, while the hotel staff called a taxi for us. They got us a firm taxi price as well.

The Barclay is a comfortable & clean hotel right in the center of Auckland. The guests & staff are pleasant. The major drawback during our stay was the construction outside the hotel. The Barclay sits right in the midst of the new transportation hub construction which had the streets closed off to traffic for large earth-digging machines! It was noisy, dusty, and not easy to reach the hotel, although the business did its best to remain available. If I had known, I would not have chosen to stay at the Barclay this time.

Don't let the rather austere lobby bother you. What they don't spend on lobby and hallway decor, they use for the rooms. We had a 2-bedroom suite for 4 of us, and it was great! Spacious, comfortable, and close to everything.

Pros: -Great location: walk to ferry terminal, fish market sky tower, queen st, cathedral or anywhere in CBD in minutes. -Countdown grocery is less than 5 minutes walk cons: - Living/common space and bedrooms are small/cramped up. (Very little space to open the suitcase in the bedroom unless you put them on the bed) - No AC (though 2 fans were provided) - very little loading zone if you want to drive-in/off and want to load/unload your luggage

GREAT location, nice set up with all the amenities, perfect for a home away from home

central location, walking distance to harbour & skytower. Many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. suites we'll appointed with full kitchen,washer/dryer in bathroom and good wifi.

This is a great home base to stay for a night or a week. Great location in heart of CBD, suites with room to spread out, outstanding value and very helpful front desk staff. Harbor view rooms are worth the upgrade.

The hotel was fine and it was near many fun places to explore in downtown Auckland. The problem for us was that we had asked for something close to the airport and this was really downtown instead. Parking was fairly expensive. If you are looking for a downtown location it was a bit noisy but nice.

Great location. Fabulous view from top floor. Great for family. Internet was spotty. Would definitely stay there again

Accomodations are not fancy, but are fully adequate and we really liked the apartment - instead of just a room - with kitchen and even laundry facilities. Staff friendly and efficient. Very good value for the cost!

spacious, convenient and quite adequate; good location for the price

Location and all conveniences including washing machine. Only one person at front desk who was always busy only downside.

Comfortable beds and furniture in the two bed two bath apt made traveling with our sons, ages 19 and 20, very pleasant. The kitchen was helpful to economize on some of our meals. Easy walk to Sky City, Aotea Square, U of Auckland, and the wharf. Countdown is a grocery store around the corner on the block. Banks, exchanges, restaurants and shopping everywhere!
