Attended a conference here, the site was great once I got up from slipping in oil in parking garage. The parking garage is kind of dark and I did not see the oil until ot was too late. Not injured more than a bruise or 2. Conference was wonderful.
Nice atmosphere with good food. College town with a few surprises. Be sure to catch the soul food buffets on every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. The price is a bit overrated but the food is still good.
I booked a room from TA back in the month of May. They withdrew money from my bank account in June. When I took my daughter back to TU this past week, I was so disappointed to learn (when I called to confirm before flying from California), that the system went down in May and all reservations had been lost. Thusly, I did not have a reservation. Did I mention, that my money was withdrawn in June. I was given to hotels in Auburn to consider. Very disappointed. I contacted TA by email. There was no customer service phone number to call. I received back an email advising my issue was resolved???? What??? When???
We reserved a room through TA for when school wasn't in session and I think they didn't really mean to be open. We were probably the only guests in the hotel and the elevators were out of service. The very helpful desk clerk helped us with our luggage up to the 2nd floor. Our room was clean enough, although there was an empty peanut shell under the bed, which I found very amusing in light of the George Washington Carver connection. We didn't find it to be as unpleasant as some people reported, but the hallways did smell musty/moldy and the continental breakfast wasn't too great--but better than nothing (rolls, bagels, juice, coffee, apples/oranges)
I'm sad to say I did not have a good stay at all. I called a day in advance to let them know I was arriving late so they wouldn't give my room away and they lost my reservation. I was on hold for over an hour. Luckily my son goes to school there so he was able to talk to them and re-book a room for me. But I was not given the same price that I was given at the first rate. When I arrived at the hotel it was 2am. I was tired, the person checked me in, but the room rate was different from what I was given. I was tired and he said he would adjust it. The wifi password that they gave me was working for a bit and then shut off I had to keep logging onto it. And it was some timey. It worked sometimes and not others. The elevators were broken for the two days I was staying there. I had to lug luggage up and down the stairs.Walk up and down each time I needed to go somewhere or back to my room. I was on the 4th floor all the way at the end of the hallway. The air conditioning was not working in the hallway from the room to the stairs. The lights to the stairwell were out on the 4th and 3rd floors. It was a real inconvenience for not only me, but others in the hotel. I had a person who came down for the TU graduation in a wheelchair. He had to be carried up and down the stairwell, since there are no rooms on the first floor. They did not want to give me any kind of discount for all the inconvenience.
I don't even know where to start. We booked AND confirmed 2 rooms. When we got there, they only had one room. Next, front desk staff was too busy talking about their paychecks to help us solve our room problem. When we did check into our room, we found an empty water bottle. The mirrors were not even cleaned. The elevator was "broken" so in order to get it, I would have to walk down to the 1st Floor and send it up. (If I could do that then why would I need the elevator? ) We decided to check out a day early since we were dissatisfied with the service. Come to find out, they had us scheduled to check out a day earlier than we reserved so we were going to be kicked out anyway! Long story short. Find a hotel in Auburn!
The one thing this place has going for it is that it is located conveniently on campus of TU. Otherwise, it's just a hot mess. Rooms are old and worn out. The beds we're lumpy and lopsided. No fitted sheet - just regular sheets on the bed. They weren't even made up properly. Bathrooms were just gross - old and mildewed and shower curtain was dirty and stained at the bottom. And like the rest of the folks mentioned, no housekeeping!!! No wonder this place is bordering on being a dumpy hotel. Wifi doesn't work in the rooms, parking garage in disrepair, poorly lit hallways and entryways from parking....They need to DO BETTER. On such a beautiful historic campus, they should really upgrade this facility.
I had to go to a funeral and some of my family booked KCC. This was the only closet hotel available. Their continental breakfast was not a good one. I was looking for a hot breakfast and all they had was cereal, water, juice, milk, fruit and danishes. There were no microwaves to warm anything up. Some of the rooms were not clean. They were going to try and charge me a higher price than the amount I booked for. We all stayed on either the 2nd or 3rd floor. The hallways smelled like mildew, including in the lounging areas. They need to do better. This was my first time here and will more than likely be my last. It was pitiful.
The location and lack of other options in this area is the only reason that anyone may have for staying here, and even then it's not worth it. The lobby is deceiving as it is the only area of the hotel that looks like its been touched in the last 50 years. The whole rest of the hotel is very in need of some renovations, updates, a little TLC and a whole lot of paint. Weirdly, the televisions were on when we entered our rooms and there were some room keys left inside the room. The furniture very scraped, drawer handles completely off and walls, scratched, peeling and dingy. The rooms are very unimpressive with very basic beds, bathrooms and tubs that look like they are from the 50's. There are NO refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms, just one sad little microwave in the lobby area outside the elevators for the whole place. The beds were uncomfortable and my daughter even asked me to check for bedbugs when we arrived, as that was how rundown the place looked. Didn't find anything thankfully. The staff is very lackluster and uninviting. They don't greet you at all and honestly could seem to care less how you are faring. Housekeeping knocked and without any wait, immediately entered my room at 9 am, unapologetic for the barge in. Thank God I was dressed and ready to leave and never return!
I return to the Kellogg Conference every year for their annual veterinary conference and I was unhappy every day at the KCC. First of all the hotel was at capacity with people and that in itself is no problem, but the restaurant was not open for breakfast other than a continental breakfast which sucked. I had to leave and go to the student union to get breakfast every morning. The lobby was hot as heck like the HVAC system was not working. The bar only stayed open to 10 and was not open at all on Friday and Saturday. It is crazy that a hotel this big was so mismanaged. I never saw the maids nor did they clean my room and they had the nerve to have notes in the rooms saying they only clean the rooms every other day. They did upgrade the rooms but downgraded the service. They know that is the only place people can stay and have access to the conferences. Someone needs to go there and teach them better customer service.
