W Atlanta Midtown4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed here about six months ago and gave it a poor review due to the fact that the property was old and worn out. I just returned this week and was happy to discover that the remodel has been completed. The hotel is by no means perfect (there were only three working elevators serving 26 floors) but the upgrade makes a huge difference. I am a Marriott Titanium member and got only a small upgrade (just to a park view king) as they were pretty full so sadly no suite was offered but the room had been remodeled and was very nice. If you want to stay in midtown either this property or the renaissance are the best Marriott family hotels now that the upgrade has been completed.
My recent experience at the W was average: - Clean, good-sized room, but had no drawers or bureau for my clothing; had to get dressed out of my suitcase each day - Restaurant was closed the evening I had a business dinner planned; the Lobby Bar was very loud (pulsing music) though the food was good - Service was OK; had to ask twice to get a bar of soap for the shower - I was charged for minibar use though I never touched or opened it (they removed the charge when I called the next day) - Relatively expensive (over $400/nt. with taxes)
Will not stay here again. My flight was delayed-spent 5 hours at airport and arrived at W Atlanta Midtown around midnight, very tired. Was told my two bedroom was changed to a one bed room bc of “alot of cheerleaders” for junior competition. So what????! Did they not make a reservation a few weeks ago like I did? We took it of course bc we were tired. They offers absolutely no extras or cheaper cost due to the inconvenience. Nice valet for our luggage for us. As we got into elevator we had the rudest man, with a friend who said nothing, get in. He gave us dirty looks, attitude, belittled is, mocked me and gave my daughter a dirty look. I refrained from getting a fight-too tired. 8:35 AM woke up to loud, LOUD, thumbing base rap music. I love my rap music too but know bringing my own speaker and playing it loud in a hotel is plain disrespectful. I called to have it shut off. The front desk obliged. I was told manager would be in next day to talk about room. When I asked for him they said he wasn’t there (yeah right). So I checked out and made sure I didn’t get charge for reserved 2nd night. I did not. They apologized. The total of three staff members were nice. The other hurts I came across were not. Their guests will definitely cost them business.
I stayed here for the Super Bowl over the weekend. It was my third time staying in this hotel and easily the best. The room was decent sized and comfortable. The location is close to a lot of restaurants and a reasonably close walk from the train. I can't speak for price since my company picked up the bill. My interactions with the staff were positive. I will say a worrying trend I'm seeing across multiple hotels including this one is there was not a lot of storage space. Basically a couple drawers and the closet was above the drawers so there wasn't a lot of room to hang things. Generally a positive stay.
The worst W I have ever stayed...and they are my favorite SPG brand. I stayed in Dec and realized I was charged for two nights when I only stayed one. When I noticed the charges I contacted the hotel and they stated they would check the keys to confirm they were not used. I did not hear anything for two months- while I contacted them at least three times. Two months later, they are still charging me for two nights. The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations in the lobby area and very noisy. I do believe the renovations are complete. I also stayed at the W in Fort Lauderdale for New Years. Upon checking out there was a $200 in room dining charge that was not mine. They at least removed the charges the same day. Check your bill as there seems to be some dishonesty going on with the W brands.
Extremely expensive. Shower didn’t work, food so so. Bar Restaurant loud. No quiet place on property. Construction going on. Come only in 6 oz. way to expensive. Not even capacity to make coffee. Nothing near by. Altogether horrible. Never again.
Stay away. Booked a room for an early check in. Called in before to confirm. The room was not ready. Management was in disarray. Promised a room within an hour. Management forgot all about it. Two hours later the room was not ready. Got no sleep.
I stayed here 1 night for a wedding that wasn’t too far away. It is a little pricy but you are paying for the location. Staff was extremely friendly. Great view on the 21st floor facing the park. I would have given 4 stars bc there is no coffee maker in the room, but the staff made up for it.
We stayed here over Christmas while visiting family. Since we were staying a full week, we wanted a hotel with public spaces that would allow us to unwind when back at the hotel. When we arrived much of the hotel was a construction site. We had not been informed beforehand that that was going to be the case. Luckily we’re early risers so the banging wasn’t too disturbing. But there was very little public space, and the advertised fitness room was closed, which we only discovered the next morning when we went down to use it. That had been another reason we chose the hotel. Staff recommended walking a mile or so to a fitness club they had a deal with, but we weren’t really interested in doing that every day. So I’d say don’t trust the website or management to be upfront about current conditions in the hotel. Every place needs to renovate sometimes, but not informing people booking rooms is pretty dishonest.
I was here for a recent work trip and disappointed would be an understatement. The lobby and bar look good but that’s where it stops. Parking is overpriced. The elevators are so slow it is faster to use the stairs even from the 16th floor!. The room itself was lacking basic amenities such as a kettle or coffee machine. The tv was huge but was not even level on the wall. The building site provided the best alarm clock, even when I wanted to lay in. A robe eventually turned up on day 3 and half of the time the supplies where not topped up. If you want a good nights sleep and to save a few hundred dollars you would probably be better placed in a crown plaza or the embassy suites.
