The Highland Inn

We spent several nights at the Highland Inn on a business trip. The hotel is old and not really updated, especially the bathroom, but reasonably comfortable. The staff consists of young hipster guys who are pretty relaxed and casual, but nice people, and willing to help-- kind of like living with your adult children for a few days. The breakfast offerings are typical of most run of the mill hotels, and there's a good coffee shop a block away if you want better coffee and breakfast options. The price is inexpensive, and just fine for what you get. It's a great neighborhood with a large choice of restaurants and bars. During our stay there was a 3-night comedy festival in the downstairs ballroom which was a good entertainment option. I'd stay there again-- it's definitely for travelers who don't want a generic, corporate hotel experience.

We stayed for one night. Our room was all the way at the end of the hall; it was actually something like a suite with two rooms and a kitchenette; clean. TV only in one room. It's an older building and gave out that old historic feel. Breakfast was pretty basic but ok. The staff was disinterested at most. Not welcoming at all. No smiles; no "have a nice day". Don't even say "hi" until you call out to them. Probably the most unfriendly of all hotel staff in my life.

No hair dryer in room. Hot water is slow but eventually comes. Fun historic hotel!

Welcomed by a large cat perched on the check in counter. (That's fine for cat lovers, but I am not one them.) Smelled bug spray upon opening the door to the room and spotted a water bug in the hallway. There is one mirror (for face only) located in the room.

This hotel is an older hotel, but it was very clean and the staff were very nice. The only bad thing is that parking is very limited and the area isn't the best, but it's no different than anywhere else that close to downtown Atlanta.

Perfect small hotel. If you're looking to relax on vacation this is perfect. Very quiet. Great hotel

Stayed here for 1 night because it was close to my friends apartment and it was only 1 night. Wow! What a dump. Floors hadn't been vacuumed in what looks like years. Hot water cut off in the middle of my shower. Then I open the fridge only to find reminants of the last guests chicken sitting in there. To top it off the fridge wasn't even plugged in. I couldn't wait to get out of here.

If we knew we were going to love our stay that much we would have stayed longer but we only had the room for one night.

Wish we would've known in advance that the lounge isn't open every night, but it was a beautiful old hotel with great artwork all over. Great central location!

For the price it was nice. Close to freeway. Ouiet, clean and they have a sweet black cat.

It's more like a zoo with cats running around holes in the wall so I know they have mice I'll never stay here again

I felt safe, the rooms were comfy and clean, and the cat would hang out with me! Loved it!

This is an old run down hotel in desperate need of maintenance. The room we stayed in had huge cracks in the ceiling and walls. The furniture was broken and torn. The bathroom had mold growing everywhere. Paint was peeling off the walls. The door jamb was split and the dead bolt did not engage properly. Curtains and carpet we're old and dirty.

Hotel is great for travelers that aren't looking for any frills. Free parking, quiet area, walking distance from little five points and marta, and nice employees. The rooms are nothing exceptional but I was very comfortable and it is in a very safe area. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! (Don't plan on eating the breakfast, just go down the road or next door to one of the great options they have in the area)

Great experience!! Walking distance to lots of neat restaurants!! Close to downtown. Very quiet. Very "SoHo" type of hotel!! Will gladly stay there again :-)

I wasn't expecting much, i was looking for an inexpensive hotel to spend one day. But i like this hotel. It is small and old, but very maintained and unique.

We had a great stay. The only downside was lack of water pressure and temperature consistency. Small inconvenience for a reasonably priced hotel in a great location.

I would stay there again. My son wants to give it 5 stars. I know my wife would not like to stay there. It's a conundrum. Perfectly located. Really perfect location. Great restuarants a few steps away. Parking is good. I was comfortable. Local artists displayed in halls. Very clean. But... Shabby. That's the friendliest word for it. Know how far off the typical corporate chain hotel you're willing to go. This hotel that I would go to again is far from that (but just as clean).

We went during Dragon*Con for the event. The staff was friendly, wifi worked amazingly, parking lot was always full but we never moved our car. Overal the experience was nice and our room was clean. They served breakfast and it was fairly good.

I use this hotel often when I need to be in the Highlands area first thing in the morning and do not want to fight traffic, its nothing modern and fancy but does the job well for the price, always friendly staff, comfortable room.
