We loved every minute of our 4 days here. Fabulous central.location, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, wonderful breakfasts on the roof, thoroughly clean and lots of atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for more.
We loved this small boutique style hotel, located in the heart of the Plaka. Metres from Hadrian's Wall and within a short walk of the Acropolis, it ticked all the boxes for us. The room was generous and well equipped, and our bathroom was enormous. Brekky on the roof top terrace was excellent, as was the view of the Acropolis. We loved that everything that you go to Athens for, was within walking distance. We found the staff to be lovely, super friendly, welcoming and full of all the information that the tourist needs.
We loved staying here. The rooftop breakfast was amazing and the area has stunning views. The staff was so friendly. Each room in the hotel is named after a famous Greek poet. Our room was one of the smaller ones but it was still really nice. Lots of street noise which didn’t bother us as it was Easter weekend. And lastly, the location was as good as you can get! A 10 minute walk to the Acropolis. And a block away from Plaka.
My recent first time stay at Home and Poetry (fourth visit to Athens) was great. I picked this boutique hotel because of the location, short walk to Acropolis entrance , to numerous shopping stands, cute little tavernas. I like the history behind this building and inside decor. Can not beat delicious, generous breakfast on the rooftop with stunning view of the Acropolis. Such a treat. Thank you ladies working the breakfast area for making our fresh eggs and omelettes from scratch. Separate thank you to the check in team and especially THANOS ! So welcoming, so friendly, trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We had a little hick up the first night, and Thanos resolved the matter in the BEST, professional manner i am so grateful Thanos. Many thanks to you. Because of it, i would stay at Home and Poetry again and recommend this cute boutique hotel to others. Very good value for the price (and i stayed in a quite few hotels in close proximity ). Taking this opportunity, i wanted to recommend taverna Saita 5 min walk from the hotel. This was recommended to me by the bartender at Brettos (another MUST in Plaka if you like good ouzo or wine, they have extensive list) and boy did we enjoy. Locals eat there and it’s family owned and operated, that baked Aubergine is out of this world. Felt like at home among the family dinner. And there is cute little Greek Orthodox church right next to taverna. Yamas !
The hotel is in really fantastic location, with plenty of restaurants, shops and museums around. The Acropolis museum and entrance to the Acropolis are just around the corner. The staff was very friendly but did not offer any recommendation for restaurants, what we found a bit unusual. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the water pressure in the shower was not very good.
Perfect location in Plaka, a block from Hadrian's Arch with partial views of the Olympieion. The rooftop terrace has views of the southeastern side of the Acropolis for a good breakfast and for evening drinks. The rooftop staff were excellent and very friendly. The hotel is very quaint and a short walk from restaurants, the Acropolis Museum and metro stop. Only improvement would have been the shower water, which sometimes switched between uncontrollably hot to uncontrollably cold. We adapted by making sure the shower head wasn't pointed directly at us. On checkout, the manager said they could have fixed this issue had we reported it but we hadn't done so as we were too busy enjoying our trip and, based on our experience seeing this elsewhere, could not imagine a quick maintenance adjustment fixing this type of issue (but perhaps we were wrong to assume that).
This is a hotel that bought a bad review for keeping my $200 without even trying to provide a solution. Stay away from them, there are many better hotels with better customer service and more friendly.
Thank you to our wonderful hosts at Home & Poetry. Good selection of vegetarian breakfast options which set us up for the day. Wonderful location and views. Room was quite noisy as faced traffic on 2nd floor, but can’t fault the hotel apart from this. Thank you to the staff who helped to organise a taxi to the airport after we were evacuated from the local metro station! Much appreciated during this stressful time.
