Visited for the first time this past weekend and was extremely pleased. Helpful, friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable bed, and great location! What more can you ask for? Will definitely be visiting again as my trips to Athens will become more frequent. They definitely ensured I will be booking here again!
Brought my son up for some music lessons with the music department as he is considering UGA next fall. We always stay Marriott when we can and the location of this hotel is perfect for walking downtown and to the campus. Being a Marriott it is always clean and well maintained and this one held true. But I would like to give a shout out to Shareka in the Starbucks Bistro of the hotel. I was there for a video conference early and stayed until my son woke up. She was very friendly and checked on me a number of times for more Coffey. Even brought me a free donut! She was great and made me feel welcome! Great job! I hope we will be back often if my son chooses UGA next fall!
Wonderful staff. The hotel itself is not quite up to Marriott standards. We had a gift card, so decided to try this hotel. We were somewhat troubled because even with the gift card we would still be spending about what we typically spend when visiting our college student in Athens and staying at a lesser priced hotel. But we went with the Courtyard. We've been just as happy/comfortable in other lesser priced area hotels.
This was my second visit and it was still clean. Moved from a king room to a suite and LOVED the space! Starbucks and food were good and easily accessible. Friendly staff and super helpful. Used the weight room too and liked that there were ear buds.
I rent the Holbrook once a month a month for business meetings. Sometimes the rooms are not set up properly which can make for a stressful beginning. The staff at the hotel are always soooo accomidating and happy to help in any possible way. I want to give a special shout out to Ms. Shareka Little - this lady is always smiling and working hard to make everything perfect! If I have an issue, she is always the person that comes running to help! She is an amazing employee that shows a passion and willingness help others! Great Job!
I don't know what this property was originally, but it is bizarrely set up. The single elevator is in the middle of the building with almost no signs to find it. It was broken the first day we were there anyway so we had to lug our luggage up a flight of stairs (fine for me, more difficult for my 84 year old mother who refused to let me carry her luggage). Dennis was kind enough to take her luggage up all the while complaining about his bad knees. Mostly the property looks clean, except our room needed a good dusting. Our beds were comfortable which is the most important hotel feature for me. The maids never straighten the sheets in the 4 days we were there so we had to keep remaking the beds. There were several electric plugs, but one of them was broken on the desk and the ones by the bed lamps were so loose they wouldn't hold the plugs. There is a small wardrobe, but no microwave or fridge. The small bathroom is fine, although it could use a fan. The TV sits on a set of 4 drawers and works fine, although most of the channels are either news or sports. They have a ton of sports channels. The free Wifi worked well for us. Unfortunately, our room looked over the pool and people got a little noisy at night. The front desk people were pleasant and got us settled in, but we were put in a room far away from the room with our other family members.
Stayed 4 nights. Very disappointed with this Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Athens, Georgia. Have stayed twice previously but this time the facility was shabby and run down. There was an insect of some kind in my bed at one point and another couple said they had actually been bitten. The enthusiastic staff could not make up for the depressing experience. As a Marriott club member I assure you I will not be staying there in the future.
This hotel is one of the worst Courtyards I've ever been in. Didn't come to TripAdvisor first because I was in a crunch with the hurricane coming and needed to change work travel plans and did the reservation over the phone. Well I was stuck here and would have rather gone anywhere else: I paid too much, had to deal with the no free coffee and bad bistro food, and the rooms are in poor condition. It's a strange layout for a Courtyard with doors that open to the outside. The carpets, furniture, paint, etc are old and beat up. My room smelled musty and the air conditioner was clearly not enough to remove the humidity of the room. There's the standard overpriced, poor food in the Courtyard bistro that you have to pay for. For the price, this hotel is a ripoff--it's about a $55/night hotel. Recommend avoiding this hotel until they totally remodel.
How this property is still able to be listed as a Marriott shocks me. Doesn't meet any of their standards. Rooms are old and musty smelling and carpet is very dirty. Great location but horrible property.
Where do I begin? First, read my other reviews, not a troll. This is at best a one star hotel. Marriott should not associate it's name with this property. Arrive at 9pm. Get to my room, toilet clogged with barf residue in it. Room is out of date, semi clean and stuffy. Maintenance fixed the clog. Next day, no hot water. Love working out and finding that out. One treadmill, one stationary bike. Bad workout equipment and small. I still have 36 hours left in this dump. Don't stay here!
