What a great place to come to for a getaway. My wife and I spent several days taking in the Fall colors. It has been many years since we visited Burr Oak and at that time it was showing its age. To our surprise, the lodge has been remodeled and is now in great shape. The rooms were very nice and the staff was wonderful. Everyone working at the lodge was very nice and thanked us for coming. We ate several meals at the lodge restaurant and it was very good. The staff was very friendly and caring. The restaurant also has a great view of the lake which we enjoyed very much. Needless to say, we will be coming back to Burr Oak in the near future. If you love trees, the lake and a quiet setting this is a great place to visit.
The lodge is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! It looks like a lodge in decor with a big fireplace in the lobby and an antler chandeliers. Our room had a great view of the lake and plenty of space to spread out and relax. Everything looks clean and remodeled. The large shower with a rain shower head was a treat after a long day of hiking around the hills. Loved the restaurant also! Great food for lunch and dinner but we were most impressed with the large and delicious breakfast buffet. It's not free but well worth the price! Definitely plan on returning soon!
We are campers and Rvers and are ok with rustic accommodations. I am not ok with dirty. Crumbs on the kitchen table, potato chips on the kitchen chair, trash under the couch. This was a pet friendly cabin and perhaps to management that means that unclean is ok. Not to us. The two patio chairs on the deck were so dirty looking that we did not want to use them. As I said, old is ok with us but probably not to some. The cabin needs a lot of maintenance but a good cleaning would be a start.
This state park is amazing!!! The lodge is beautiful and the rooms are great!! The restaurant has wonderful food--not a single complaint!!! Nothing but compliments and our main server, Flora, was phenomenal!!!! They prepared the fire pit for us and it is also beautiful!!! The lake is so pretty and we rented pontoons and spent the afternoon boating and swimming...lovely!! We think this place is fantastic!!!!
We stayed in a Cabin at Burr Oak this past weekend with our 3 kids. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the hiking paths, pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, putt putt course, and playground. We also rented a Pontoon boat from the Burr Oak Marina (Dock 1) for 4 hours for only $125, highly recommend. We ate dinner at the restaurant Saturday night which has great views of the lake and food and service were decent. Kids had a blast and we will definitely be back. However, we will not stay in the cabins next time. WAY overpriced for what you get. Let’s put it this way, there is a reason why they don’t have any interior photos of the cabins on the website. For $200 bucks a night I expected a lot more. Ours was very outdated, smelly and dingy. Also was promised a lake view. Cabin was adjacent to lake, but no view of it. If it was $100 a night, I would say you get what you pay for, but until they renovate they should drop their prices drastically.
We had over 30 relatives from as far as California come here to celebrate my parents anniversary. The Lodge we stayed in was a little cramped especially the bathroom, but other than that the room was clean and comfortable. The lake view was nice and the wooded area is very quiet and relaxing. We only had breakfast at the lodge which was nice. We gathered at the cabins the others rented and brought food and sat around the camp fire to visit and reminisce. Overall a great weekend.
We've taken our two grandsons, ages 5 and 8, two different times to stay at Burr Oak Lodge and they absolutely love it!! The first time was just before school started back up in 2015 and the second time was during Christmas break of 2016. They loooove the pool AND the game area in the loft above the lobby/lounge/fireplace area. AND the rooms! They love that they have their own room and also the patio area outside our room where we can have a bite to eat, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner or snack time. The view of the lake is so wonderful. The facilities are immaculate and so inviting. We WILL be back! :-)
A weekend get away in the woods with a good restaurant and comfortable accommodations. Stayed in a cabin with kitchen, two bedrooms, TV and screened in porch. Quick walk to the lodge if you want a restaurant. Very reasonable prices.
Burr Oak Lodge has been remodeled since I was there in the 90's. I remember it looking like I was back in 1969 before. The suite room looked great and update. It had two flat screen TV, two bathrooms, fridge, microwave and more. The pool was very nice and clean along with the workout room. There is not many eating choices around Glouster but the lodge has a very nice restaurant and bar. Well worth checking out and even more if you have a boat. Boats with engines over 10hp can only idle around the lake.
We have been to several state park lodges in Ohio and this one is the best so far. The rooms were very clean and updated. Bed was comfortable too! Enjoyed our stay. Great place to stay while in Hocking Hills. Restaurant at lodge was also good.
