The Mountaineer Inn

Very comfortable and convenient to Asheville attractions. Good value. Breakfast was basic grab and go but there was a good assortment of donuts. People in office helpful but not overly friendly. Room was clean but showed lots of age. Beds were comfy. Parking good.

I am ultra sensitive to pets and smoke. [allergies + asthma] I got a nonsmoking room, but apparently there had been a dog or cat in there. I asked for the room to be vacuumed, and they took care of it immediately. After they did I was fine. Mountaineer Inn -- I will be back!

This is a wonderful place to spend the night and slow down a bit. In today's times people have a little difficulty sometimes slowing down This place makes it easy to do

The front desk staff was ok. Wifi service bad, tired rooms, old tvs had to be manually turned on and off, room was not cleaned each day, breakfast was donuts and coffee. Room was not insulated so had to turn old heater on and off thruout th night.

The stay at the Mountaineer Inn was very pleasant. We were here on business. The staff was very polite. Highly recommend if you want to stay comfortably at an affordable price.

Check in was super nice and friendly. The room was older and dated, beds fairly comfortable, tv and wifi provided. The big issues (which i didn't notice till we got back from dinner very late) were some stains on the sheets, only 1 bath towel provided for 2 guests, when i went to the office to get another one, they didn't have any available and just gave us 2 smaller towels, and a hole in the tile above the shower that was very unnerving. Floor was not vacuumed properly, I could see some very large dust bunnies in the corner by the bed. I chose not to bring any of this up when we checked out (there were guests checking in) but probably should have. The free breakfast and coffee looked good but we had breakfast plans.

Very good deal and clean. It had a quaint air with the key locks and check in desk.

Swimming, almost right downtown. Nice continental breakfast

Super nice staff! Very cozy- oldish, but lends to the charm!

It's a little dated, but in the best possible way. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, breakfast was good, and nothing bad happened. A great find for someone who enjoys kitsch. If you want a Sheraton, go find yourself a Sheraton.

Though the room was non-smoking, it was undoubtedly a room for smoking once upon a time. A few of the buttons on the remote did not work, but we spent most of our time outside the hotel and in the city. The staff was extremely courteous and regulars to the inn were friendly as well. For the price of a nightly stay, the quality of the room and service was more than acceptable.

The hotel was in a good location and the staff was friendly and accommodating but the place is old and there were a lot of sketchy characters staying here, tatoos, cigarette smoke, the rooms on the back side felt like an alley, the rooms on the front had no air.

This was one of the most inexpensive motels in Asheville, and it was perfect. If you aren't looking for a super nice, brand name hotel, this place is perfect. We were just looking for a place to sleep after a day of hiking and eating/drinking, and it couldn't have been better. Yes, the carpet and sheets had some stains. But I wasn't expecting anything better. Definitely will stay there again.

This hotel was the dirtiest hotel I've ever been inside of. There was a swarm of gnats above the sink. There were crumbs all over the seriously stained carpet. It looked as if no one had ever cleaned the carpets. It was disgusting. After 15 minutes or so in the room, we left. We checked into the Holiday Inn down the road. In all of my years of traveling, I have never left a hotel because it was too dirty to sleep in.

Ok, I booked this through a package deal because I was only there for 1 night to attend an early business meeting. I see it was rated at 3 stars and didn't follow up on the reviews. Everything in the room was out dated (TV must have been First Generation Color TV by Zenith). Remote worked, but not the on/off or Volume. Room was nasty (Dared not to walk around without sandals) I must add, it did have good water pressure. So if you missed or wondered what the 70's was like, please book a room and get your Groove going and bring your platform shoes and French Dress Pants and Silk Shirt or Blouse..

We knew this was a budget hotel thus had a lower expectations but what we found was even below our expectations. The first room that was given to us had a problem with door and the AC.The carpet was stained. The bedsheet seemed be worn out.Once we complaint about the AC our room was changed where the door was even worst.I ended up hurting my finger once trying to close it.The bed was squeaky and almost felt like it's going to break. We have stayed in budget hotel before but never had such experience. Definitely not going back or recommending ti anyone. But yes staffs were nice probably thats the only good thing about the place.

Great price very clean room but no microwave are aby way to control the climate in our room but it was a good stay very quite and conformable

Do not waste your money. The showers where flawed, toilet broken, sink overflowed twice at night from a leak and damaged a couple of electronics, smelled like sewage and had NO HEAT on New Years .

Messed up the reservation and kept me standing in the cold while the desk lady got more confused. Icky room. Cold coffee.

It's a very basic hotel but a great value. It's clean, has a great view and there are lots of great places to eat and shop near by.

Thank you for the nice review. I am sorry if the office staff did not seem friendly. Usually we are bubbling over with hospitality but everybody has a bad day once in awhile.
