My first room had dirty pillow case and bedding. The front desk gave me a new room in a terribly noisy floor (8th floor). The room wasn't clean (dirty window, hair in the bathtub that weren't mine...) and the wall really needed painting (holes in the walls). I barely slept due to the noise (some kind of machine). I tried to complain to the person at the front desk when I did my check out but the man didn't care about what I had to say. I'm obviously extremely dispointed and irritated by this adventure and shall never come back to any trip hotel, one time is enough !!!
We arrived after servingtime from the kitchen, The Staff hjelpes us with gjetting food delivered. Polite staff, and clean environment. Even with Windows against the street the noiselevel was ok. Therese is allso an alle behold the hotel wheelshop we manager to park our big van (7metres)
If it wasn't for the bad noise insulation of the building I would have given a better rating. Yes, it's NOISY at whatever hour of the day or night, you hear the next rooms peoples and if they are young and they are there for partying you got a part of I too. For people who want to rest in the night at a decent hour, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The rate is good, but a good night's rest is better. The personnel at the reception and at the bar are nice and ready to help. A metro station is not far away and there is a bus stop right by the hotel.
Pros + Staff seemed nice enough + Bed was comfortable (not that you will be able to sleep though) + Breakfast was okay but expensive Cons (where do I start?) - Paper thin walls - you can hear everything! - Crap windows - if you are unlucky enough to be on the front side of the hotel the traffic will keep you awake - Gap between door and the frame - I could see the corridor from inside my room - Room stunk of sewage - Scuffs everywhere on the walls - Tiny bath - Dingy and dark interiors make the place seem a bit seedy - Air con was rubbish and I was so hot! - Room keycards were crap and the alarm noise will also keep you awake - Noisy alarm at 7am for some mornings
The door handle at the bathroom and one hanger were broken. The bathroom door could not close properly. On the ceiling there was something like small holes or ink. The room in general look in bad shape. On the bright side, the mattress was really comfortable.
Good services, better to reserve parking. Cool view from the windows on the back side. I enjoy staying at this property. Good luck.
everything was ok, except at 6h30 the big noise, like a fan or air co in the room and the hall of my floor. Cannot sleep correctly.
I enjoyed everything about the hotel (the bed was awesome) except I could hear my neighbour laugh at night and his TV when it was on
The Tryp Hotel in Antwerp just seems like it has seen better days, but now just needs a lot of maintenance. The main lobby is ok, and other than the brown tones is somewhat pleasant. Staff at the front desk were very nice and polite. The room cleaning staff were in the halls early each day of my 3 day stay, and were very loud, and repeatedly knocking on doors to see it the room was vacant and ready for cleaning. So it was not easy to sleep in. The halls of this hotel, as noted in other reviews, are dark, paint on the walls is chipped and scratched, and the look is generally very shabby. My room (#718) seemed to continue the snappy experience of the halls. The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet, an access panel under the sink in the bathroom would not shut, the towel hooks on the back of the bathroom door were falling off, the walls of the room were again all scratched and chipped, the curtains on the windows did not fully cover the window, the curtain rod was held up with duct tape to the ceiling, and the heating / cooling did not work so the room was very hot even though I turned off the unit. In a lot of the other reviews for this hotel over the past year or so the response from management was that they were refurbishing the room and fixing deficiencies. I guess this is one room that was missed. And clearly the room attendants do not report issues, or if they do maintenance or management does not act to carry out repairs. This is just not a good place to stay in Antwerp.
Don’t be fooled by the pictures on their website. They are fake (?). I posted some real ones. Where to start... noisy rooms, noisy housekeeping, broken TV in room, doll house size bed pillows, airco not functioning, major renovation necessary, no facilities like coffee maker, and the cherry on the cake, no hot water when we came home after a party. Take away coffee at bar was 3 euro and undrinkable. We had to spend three nights here (work related). Never again. Management says they are renovating for years now see other reviews on Tripadvisor
