Hotel is very central easy to reach by car , Clean and good parking , tram 11 is around the corner and brings you in 10 min downtown
We had a 'ok stay' at Tryp, not exeptional because when you look around the hotel had his time and needs a refreshing update. Everywhere the lighting was very poorly and in different collours or did not work at al, the paintwork was damaged everywhere you looked and even in the rooms where waterstains due of several poorly solved waterleakages. Our room was located at the backside, with a nice view over Antwerp but if you opened the window there was a windowopening until our knees and we could fall from the 6'th story very easealy, not save though but the first hotel we had where you could open a window for fresh air, 1 point for that. The bathroom, ... wow... that realy needed a update, two colours of light , water stains on the wall, a bath with damaged emaille and a very poor fabricated wall on top of the bath so you had no space to move normaly under the shower and a wobly thin plastic toilet seat. But everything looked clean though. The bed was ok, but the huge pillow as a sort of headboard, that was a bit of a design fail because it made the bed at least 25cm shorter, so I had to move the bed otherwise i had cold legs and feet all night. Breakfast was ok, not special but 'everything' was there. Only when we arrived for breakfast the scrambled egg was already finished and would not be refilled, why ? it was 9:50 ? and us was told breakfast was from 8:00 untill 11:00 (?) The lady who was cleaning the tables was very kind, and after she managed to get the cook make some new scambled egs we where happy again. A big applaus for her, she looked very busy but managed to keep everybody and especially us very happy with fresh baked sweet breads. So overall our stay at Tryp was ok.
In my experience, room service is very poor of this hotel. I requested to something for room but the guys replied that sorry we are busy. This really disappointed me. Breakfast was good of this hotel but other as per my experience was not good.
Sunday breakfast advertised till 10:30. At 10am I was told I could not have breakfast due to an upcoming event. I was not informed, leaving me hungry. I paid for the breakfast and was only offered an express breakfast.
Stayed in the TRYP for two nights on a business trip stop-over. The reception staff I dealt with were all excellent and were happy to help me with any queries I had. I arrived two hours early, and I expected to have to leave my bags and come back later, but they offered to check if a room was available straight away. This was particularly welcome after a seven-hour drive! Unfortunately the rooms are showing wear and tear, the carpets in particular are very stained. Perhaps pale yellow wasn't the best choice for a heavy-use carpet! Despite the stains, everything was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and modern. The water pressure and temperature was fantastic. The rooms have a coffee machine. I came by car, and was lucky to get a space in the underground car park. If you are planning to park, bear in mind that there are only about eight spaces in the car park. However plentiful parking can be found nearby. I've booked the hotel again for my stop-over on the way home. Positives: very friendly reception staff; clean bathroom; comfortable bed; nice bathroom; easily reachable by car; Velo stations nearby; good value Negatives: very stained carpets; black, peeling corridors have a brothel vibe; on a main road (mopeds and beeping) P.S. Buy the breakfast at the hotel, it's cheaper than when it is included with the room ;)
The hotel is located on a quiet road with easy access to the centre of town and the diamond areas. For those who don't mind walking, this takes no more than 15min s of leisurely and pleasurable walk. Services at the hotel are good and the staff were helpful and pleasant, with the exception of one or two female staff at the restaurant. The rooms were cosy and the breakfast was superb. Overall, the hotel affords a mixture of good value and quality, and I would gladly return whenever I am in Antwerp.
Very nice hotel ! Unfortunately the soundproofing was bad due to a door between our room and the next one. Also, the hotel is pretty far from the city center.
Terrible carpeting in Room 322. That room had a dirty carpet with stains allover. Not sure how this could happen at a Whydam hotel.
This hotel definitely has potential, but currently looks rather run down. The artsy details and decorations are fun but the big piece of a renaissance woman's face above our bed was a little awkward! Location is good, especially if you're using the city bikes as there's two stations right next to the hotel. Would stay again, though it's a bit expensive for what they're offering.
Good location 10 mins walk from Antwerpen Centraal/Shopping district. Cool square behind hotel with cafes including Zeezicht...worth popping into for the pea soup! 10 mins walk through quiet neighbourhood to De Roma concert venue.
