Great location, near the main square with plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. The staff is excellent, very friendly and extremely helpful!, the breakfast is delicious with plenty of variety.
What a great place! The staff was all very friendly and helpful from checkin through checkout. We had a complimentary drink on the rooftop terrace which had amazing views of the city and volcanoes. The location is superb and only one block from the central square. The rooms were very nice with soft comfortable beds. Very quiet inside the room and dark so I had a good night of sleep. Bathrooms are large and spacious. Breakfast was included and very good. This place is a true gem and we will definitely stay here again.
My daughter and I loved this hotel. It is small, quiet, and friendly. The location is perfect, very near the Central Square and some great restaurants. The garden is lush and beautiful - a lovely breakfast spot. Our room was well-equipped and restful. The staff booked a tour for us to Pacaya, and also arranged our cab back to Guatemala City. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Antigua.
This is a gem of a small hotel! The staff, headed up by Marco and Beatrice, were very friendly and accommodating. I hurt my knee walking on the cobblestones and they let me keep a cold compress in their freezer and retrieved it for me as many times as I wanted. My room was lovely, with magnificent furniture and a very comfortable bed. The courtyard has breathtaking foliage and breakfast, which is included in the price, is delicious and elegantly served. My favorite thing was their rooftop terrace, with a spectacular view of all three volcanoes: Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. I went up at sunrise and sunset most days and was treated to the sight of Fuego erupting one morning. They have 24-hour door service, which is very helpful. When it was time for me to go to Lake Atitlan, they allowed me to store my luggage not needed for the lake (even though I wasn't going to stay at their hotel after), and permitted my son to leave his bike in their parking area. Very gracious, warm people. I practiced my Spanish with them, and they delighted in my son's excellent Spanish. I highly recommend this hotel.
I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel on February 16, 17, 22 & 23 of February 2017. The staff and the property is just lovely. Staff were very attentive to our needs at all time. The first room was nice but the second room we stayed in was fabulous very luxurious. Th location is optimal and I would stay there again.
To Live the history this is the right place in Antigua which by the way is a great town to visit. Very good location, good service, comfortable and clean rooms. You do not want to have a room on the street side though: street noise!
This is a lovely small hotel, only 9 room, less than a block from Pargue Central. This was the family home of the owner and she converted it to a boutique hotel. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The courtyard is beautiful, and there are couches and chairs, with throws, for relaxing and keeping warm in the evening. The breakfast is tasty and there is also a 2nd floor patio. The rooms are clean and bright and the staff is top notch. I will stay here when I am lucky enough to return to Antigua.
Hotel La Catedral was a a very nice, beautifully appointed hotel, close to central park and within walking distance of many of Antiqua's sites. We felt well cared for, safe, friendly staff, good breakfast. Relatively small with beautiful little garden, roof top tables. We would stay there again without hesitation. Not inexpensive, but good value.
The hotel is just a block from the main square, which made it convenient to walk to the church on the square and local businesses. The facilities are just as described and as shown in the photos. The open central garden is beautiful and facility decor made us feel like we were living in the midst of Antigua's history. The staff was friendly and helpful, and secured parking is provided adjacent to the hotel. We appreciated the freshly prepared fruit and pancake breakfast. The thick walls shielded the room from street noise and window shutters darkened the room well after the sun had risen. For a couple in their mid-fifties who wanted a quiet, historic, and convenient place to stay, Hotel la Catedral was perfect. If we return to Antigua we would stay there again.
The location couldn't be better. One block from the central park so you can walk to and from all the popular spots after dark safely or easily return to the hotel during the day. The rooms were of a decent size, clean and with relatively hot water. It is a small hotel, I doubt if there are more than 6 rooms. One review said it was noisy. We were in a room on the busier street and once the wooden window cover is closed any noise that there was didn't bother us at all. Breakfast was excellent and included in the price. It has a very nice courtyard garden and a terrace patio to watch the Volcan de Fuego. It could quite easily be described as a 'boutique hotel' - as with everywhere in Antigua it isn't cheap - but it is the overall best location / quality combination that I have stayed at in Antigua.
