We have been in Ankara a couple of days for work and we enjoyed the Crowne Plaza hotel stay. It's a quiet place, clean and with very gentle staff. Food is really tasty. We have already tasted breakfast and lunch: excellent. We hope dinner will be also good! : )
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ankara is a good place to stay. Staff is good, and also the food. It is close to AnkaMall (previously Migros Mall). This Mall gives you plenty of opportunities like shopping and food.
was there was a night and a day , its a good hotel , just faced some issues for breakfast , rest all was fine, room was good , toilets were clean , and yes ANK mall is next door one can walk . rest all good
Stayed at Crown Plaza, Ankara 4-7 April. first impression was not so good. The hotel definetely need to undergo a serious renovation. The elevator on the far right failed many times. the room was shappy (thorn armchair, old carpets, etc.). Although Turkey is a paradise for towels, the hotel towels really suck! They should be replaced immediately! When tried the shower first dark red muddy water came! So that means the system needs to replaced! pillows & linens should be renewed too! As for the good things; the staff especially those in the restaurant were so friendly and helpful! I mustn't forget Serpil for her helpfullness and assistance. The food is OK and satisfactory but cheese section should be taken seriously since some cheese were bad! So my overall experience with this crown plaza was not regular crown plaza taste! And hope the general manager (Ugur BUR) takes this seriously and not give an outomated answer as he has done so far:))
I always stay here when visiting Ankara. The location is outside of the city center and near Ankaras largest mall. The hotel has everything you might need and English is spoken very well. Close enough to the airport, but far enough that you will never hear a plane. The breakfast buffet is amazing as well.
When I was looking for a hotel for a visit to Ankara I picked Crowne Plaza because what I read was totally different from what I got I read that this hotel was close to restaurants & bars in city centre I was disappointed to find out it was four stops on metro only Newcastle in Ankamall next door was close by but that wasn’t ideal I was also disappointed to find this was mainly a business hotel had I wanted to stay at business hotel there was others in different areas cheaper On a plus side the breakfast was really good plenty of choice and very attentive staff which made up from when I checked in the reception staff really couldn’t be bothered no info about where things were at the hotel
The hotel is next to Anka Mall which makes it convenient for shipping . At check in I presented my Visa card for the extras and I was told by one of the front desk guy that they wanted a $100 in cash !!! It sounded wired to me and I refused and they said ok with my visa at check out !! I stayed in a suite on the 14th floor , my first impression was a shock from the bad smell that was coming from the carpet , I thought , they sprayed an air freshener which hid the bad smell for a view minutes only , I had to go to Migro , a super market in the mall to buy a carpet deodorizer which helped for a while to discover later that the bad smell was coming from the toilet pipes . Breakfast was good and the staff are really nice and smiling . At check out I was told by Ali , the receptionist , that I have to pay for one night that I stayed EXTRA !!! , I explained to him that my booking was paid for , seven nights , then he said I had to pay for breakfast , again I had to show him the confirmation of my booking which include breakfast for 2 , at this point he went inside the office to get help from his boss , to cancel the extras on my bill , again they said I had 4 breakfast on my second day ! We were only 2 guests !!! . It seemed as they just want to add extra charges any way they can !!!
I recently held a training program in this hotel. The room was very comfortable- especially the black reading chair. I want to get one for my husband if the hotel shares their supplier. There is a metro station right in front of the hotel and a shopping mall next door. Quite convenient. The refreshments put out at coffee breaks were amazing. The lunches less so.
So disappointed, I don't even know where to start.... My husband and I are Spire Elite Ambassadors, and stay in IHG hotels all over the world, and have done for years. We are very loyal to the brand, and have always been more than happy with the excellent service they have provided us - until now. In fact, if it wasnt for a bell boy called ERGUL, who speaks excellent english, and helped us immensely, - always with a smile on his face - we would've checked out after one night. Upon check in, we were shown to our room, which was a junior suite. We asked to move rooms as the bath room and toilet had completely see through glass doors, and we wanted privacy. We were told by a so called "manager" ORCUN, that we could pay hundreds of euros extra and be shown to an upgraded room. We quickly agreed! When we walked into the room, the smell hit us instantly, I can only describe it as a toilet that hadn't been flushed or cleaned. So we declined the room, and were very disappointed, that they thought so little of their guests, that they would offer us a dirty room. I asked to see the hotel mgr, he was busy, of course!! They finally upgraded us to a clean room, free of charge....it was a nice big room, no complaints there, with jacuzzi, comfy bed and pillows. Clean and spacious. House keeping girls were excellent, and I loved that they put turkish delight on our pillows every night. Club lounge - do not waste your money, it is dire!!!! I asked constantly for the coffee machine to be turned on, after one whole week of asking they finally did it. I was told, "oh just go to downstairs to the lobby lounge if you want coffee" I guess the staff don't understand the reason why guests want club lounge access - is so we don't have to go to the lobby lounge bar for coffee in the mornings. Some of the food put out for the guests was still sitting there after 4 days of us being in the hotel. Fridges not turned on, so drinks were warm. Some days no water. Small selection of complimentary alcohol. Almost every day we had to go to reception as we needed new room keys - for some reason they kept expiring. Very annoying after waiting for the elevator, traveling 15 floors, to get to your room - after a long day walking around the city - to realize your key no longer works, and you have to go all the way back down to reception to get a new one. But the absolute nail in the coffin, and the reason we would never stay in this hotel again - was, once more, ORCUN..!! I went to reception to query my bill the day before check out, as the hotel had taken two payments out of my back account - and I wanted to quickly check what had been paid for and what had not. Anyway along comes ORCUN, and stands next to me at the guests side of the reception - in front of all the staff and hotel guests checking in and out, and tells me "oh you have to pay for the shuttle service you used from the airport to the hotel the day you checked in" I told him, we didn't use shuttle service, we used a taxi, you must have me mixed up with another guest. He said to me "no you didnt use a taxi - you used our shuttle service, your flight was delayed, we sent car to the airport for you" I again, told him, "we did not use your shuttle service, and my flight was not delayed" He stood at reception, and kept insisting that I was lying - and that my flight was delayed, (even though I kept telling him it wasn't us) in front of many guests, I was so embarrassed, but I kept insisting we did not use the shuttle service, and he kept insisting with me that we did, and he also kept insisting that my flight was delayed. This guy is fluent in english - so nothing was lost in translation. I was very humiliated and embarrassed that he thought I was lying, but I knew I was getting no where by telling the truth, so I asked to see the (another) manager and I even went to my room to get my taxi receipt to prove to them I was not in fact lying, and that we had taken a taxi from the airport not the hotels shuttle. Another manager came and told me he would check on his system if a shuttle had been ordered in our name, and get to the bottom of it. It transpired, ORCUN, was wrong, and I had been telling him the truth - we did not use the hotels shuttle. The whole situation caused by ORCUN was unnecessary. If only he had believed me, or checked the computer systems before insisting I was lying...!! In my opinion, in a five star hotel - this goes way behind absolute horrendous customer service. I have never ever been treated like that before in any hotel, anywhere in the world. In a nutshell, there are some excellent hotels in Ankara, I would highly recommend that you check them out before staying here, this hotel is just not worth the constant hassle.
Stayed at Crowne Plaza Ankara for 4 nights in December 2017. Depending on your purpose of visit to city the location can be either great (for shopping) or vastly inconvenient (for visiting touristic areas) - for us it was really good. We had to check in in the middle of the night due to our flight schedule and we were greeted by a rather unhappy receptionist which had a very negative impact on our first impression which is difficult to reverse afterwards. Reception Area: For a so-called 5 star hotel, reception area is quite rundown and cluttered with printers, open drawers and lots of paperwork lying around. Needs some work. Hallways: Not well lit and loose fitting and old carpet. Guest Room: We stayed at a standard room at 9th floor. In general small room, dark and not well maintained. Throughout our stay the room was extremely hot (think about 28-30 degrees Celsius) tried to fix it through AC unit to no avail and opened the window instead which did not help. Bathroom/toilet area is separated by a wall and a window with blinds but the blinds did not properly shut so we did not have any privacy at all while taking a shower etc. Bathtub was very old with some stains at the bottom and cracks round the corners and was not very practical to use ( there’s a glass panel instead of a curtain which is a good idea but the glass panel is fixed and makes it difficult to reach the knobs without going into the tub first which is rather inconvenient) Towels were not white but off-white which was kind of off putting. Event though we had a reservation for 2 people there were only 1 pair of slippers in the room and 1 tea towel for face (no extra towels) so we had to ask for the second set - we got it in the end but why did they only provide 1 set to start with? Housekeeping knocks the door at 09:05 - which is rather early and after cleaning we did not really feel as if it was cleaned as there was still dust on the floor and fingerprints on the table etc. Our water glasses were not changed 2 nights in a row. Breakfast: Good spread of breakfast, nothing in peculiar. In general, poorly maintained and sloppy in details. There are many other hotels in Ankara, we will be staying somewhere else next time.
