Great Location
This property had a great location downtown. Parking downtown is difficult to find so we walked to the downtown area and that worked out well. We had very fast responses from the property manager. I will say this location would be best suited for those who plan to eat out most nights as there is not a microwave or a standard coffee maker on the property. The sofa bed is also better suited for only one adult. It could not fit two. Great place for those who plan to be out most of the time.

Perfect for a couple, but not for more than that.
This unit is charming and in a great location, quiet and safe. This would be perfect for a couple, as the couch in the living room is not actually a double (we measured it at 48 inches) and so we had difficulty finding places for all of our family of four to sleep. We did receive a 7% discount from VRBO and Vacasa for this issue, but it was hard to get a response. There is also no door on the downstairs full bathroom which can make privacy an issue. For a couple? Great! If your party is more than that, I would look elsewhere.

Cute place - no central air/heat
Overal my husband and I did enjoy our stay at Bootleggers cove. The space is cute and eclectic and a great location. However, we did not know that the only heating option for this two level unit was an upstairs fireplace. While we did eventually get it working, it has the usual drawbacks of a fireplace in that the heat it puts off is unregulated so we had to turn it off at night and when we left else it would get way TOO hot. Since there was no heat downstairs it was pretty miserable our first night there given that it was December in Alaska. The property manager was helpful the next day in getting us a space heater for downstairs which was a good solution. None of these were dealbreakers, but they were really frustrating things to learn late at night when it was going to get down to single digits. Hopefully in the future, clearer details in the listing can set better expectations for others.
