This is a new hotel with a slightly quirky (very personalised) service ethic. Basically they're running it like an exclusive club or private lodge. It can bottle-neck a little if there are several guests requiring attention. At base, it's a great idea. The rooms are well-proportioned (probably the best shower I've ever had in Europe) and really comfortable. The hotel is in beautiful condition in a lovely area - close to the city and easily accessible by tram. Amsterdam (and the Netherlands generally) is probably best accessed by rail/tram/bus. Get an OV card! The 7.50 Euro additional charge is worth the cost.
Amazing stay! The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It's a 5-10 min walk into "central" Amsterdam, but my traveling partner and I appreciated the location. We still walked home late in the evening with no concern for safety. The rooms were great, quiet and very dark! My traveling partner didn't realize it was well past 10am one morning! Def recommend staying here!
Lovely, no beautiful, little hotel. Staff were great and very helpful and chatty and the facilities are first rate with lovely touches. The hotel is largely brand new so hoping they keep right on top of the maintenance. Definitely stay there again next time in Amsterdam.
We loved staying there so much we want to tell you more. Opened at the beginning of 2017 so not yet in the guide books but book well ahead because the secret won’t be kept for long! Located in the peaceful, upmarket Museum neighbourhood next to Vondel Park. There is simply a solid front door, so easily missed. The welcoming young woman Manager describes it as, “A new kind of hotel for today’s traveller”. The building is historic and the conversion has transformed it, so that the interior works well within the historic context. The original twisting staircase is there but the dark grey panelled lift is used by everyone. Bliss from the moment we arrived. The staff are young and nothing is too much trouble. There is an immediate feeling of calm comfort. The colours and fabrics chosen create a serene atmosphere, soft grey and green and dark blue. The hotel will appeal to creative people especially, because it displays thoughtful quality with a modern edge. Breakfast at extra cost is worth having. No buffet table, everything is prepared fresh just for you. It appeared to be produced effortlessly and with pleasure. We had the impression that freshly made to order food was available all day long in the “Living” area where you can relax, read the gorgeous books and glossy magazines or go out to the garden. Truly a heavenly place to stay. A few minutes walk to the park, the Rijksmuseum or the number 1 tram.
Just two days before my stay (that I've booked over a month ago), hotel Pillows Anna van den Vondel has cancelled my booking without any explanation. And they did it through Booking.com, without even bothering to contact me in person. I think it says more about their attitude to their clients than anything else, let alone that I had to reshuffle my trip plans and book new hotel at much higher rates and with limited selection of available rooms. I therefore wish Pillows to go out of business as swiftly as they deal with customers' requests and obligations, and make room for professionals that have integrity and adhere to higher standards.
I took my 11 year old son to Amsterdam and we stayed at the all new Pillows Anna van den Vondel. Wow, what a truly nice experience. It felt like entering the house of friends. Wonderfully decorated living room where we enjoyed check in with a free welcoming drink. Breakfast was first class: no buffet but fully served by the friendly staff. Sure, I could still sense the hotel is new and things and staff have to find their way but every detail is very well thought out and the team is so friendly! Finally the room. So nicely done with a more than lovely bed. This hotel will be among the top in Amsterdam; it deserves it. Will definitely return!
I was here for a 4 night stay and the place looks wonderful. The price was somewhat on the high side but the hotel does look pristine. Our issues had more to do with the service more than anything else. I think there was a large group being helped during check in the same time we were. However, I've never had to wait so long and the employee seemed somewhat dismissive of us. On the 2nd and final night of our stay, our rooms keys didn't work. On the final night, I actually had to go back downstairs twice because the replacement key didn't work either.
I was very excited to visit this hotel. The location is awesome and after reading all the reviews my expectations somehow high. I got the downstairs room which was small, but comfortable. The bed was super nice and I thought I would get a good rest after a day full of meetings an conferences. Nothing was further from the truth. My bedroom was just under the stairs and I could hear every step of all the guests and staff. When I let the staff know in the morning they didn't know how to handle the situation and they seemed very uncomfortable. I just let it go, but I was sad, because this hotel has so much potential.
I recently spent one evening in the bustling city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I stayed at the Pillows Hotel, a boutique hotel and dining experience in the heart of the risqué city. Immediately, I knew I was going to love my stay as I was met with creatively coordinated green interior colors and designs. It was infectious to my eye! I was extremely tired from all my travel that day, so when I laid down for the evening in the hotel, I was not disappointed by the quality of the sheets and the down comforter. When I awoke, I was met with a quaintly adorable breakfast that really emanated the personality of the Dutch to me. Since I was only there for 1 night, on my way out, I definitely promised myself I would return again sometime soon.
I had a room at the hotel with a friend of mine who was visiting Amsterdam. Rooms were clean, amenties were better than I thought they would be, staff was very nice and overall she enoyed the place as well as I
