We got here after a terrible experience with another hotel from where we had to go after a nightmare night, so we kind of choose whatever it was available. But, it turned out to be a good choice! Hotel is located to the end of metro line 53. It might look far from the city center but it is not! You have the M station right to the hotel and you spent less than 20 min to be at the Amsterdam Central Station. People from the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We got there in the morning, and even if the room wasn't ready and we didn't pay for the breakfast on that day, we were invited to get a coffee or a tea and serve the breakfast with the other hotel guests, free of charge. The rooms are small but clean and nice. Bathroom has bath tube and they are clean and have soap, shower gel and whatever you need. It has TV, and machine for hot water + free tea. Breakfast it's very good, served in a nice saloon with good music and nice atmosphere. Good food, fresh oranges for juice, good coffee, quality products. The are is very nice, right to a beautiful park and 100 m from the Metro station.
Even though the location is quite far from the center (30 mins by metro) but all the transportations are easily accessible from the hotel. The room quality is just around average. However the wall is quite thin and you might get easily disturbed by other room's activities. Our overall experience in Campanile is just average.
The price for the hotel is steep compared to better hotels elsewhere. We decided to stay in this hotel as it is next to the metro station of Gasperplaas and very close to our place of work. This was the main highlight of the hotel! The hotel is located next to a park and the locale itself is very picturesque. A spacious parking is available right in front of the reception. We were offered a ground floor room with view on the parking. However, we were not happy with this location and the room was very small. The reception obliged us and we were offered a room on the 2nd storey with view on the park and ponds. The corridor leading to the rooms is open and not well kept. When it rains the whole corridor is drenched and if you happen to be in the corridor at the time, you will be drenched. The room itself was very small and basic. We had a double bed, with a small table and tv. No wardrobe is available. The toilet and bathroom is very basic. During the time we spent there, around 2 weeks, the temperatures were around 10-12 and with the park next to it, the room tended to be freezing at times. The heater was not functional at all and it was indeed a terrible 2 weeks, despite our complaints to the reception. On the other hand, room service could be ordered and the food was not bad at all. Prices were also very reasonable. Otherwise there is a food caravan next to the hotel where decent food is available. The people at the reception were all very nice and helpful & this is really a redeeming quality of the hotel.
Went there on a night stay because of an early morning meeting near airport and free parking. The check in experience was good. The room is comfortable and could get a good night's sleep. As I had to check out early in the morning, I had to face a front desk staff who was clearly not happy to be deprived of his sleep. He spoke partially in French, so did not understand what he was saying, but would not want to start my day talking to such a person. Location - 8/10 Check in experience - 8/10 Room quality - 7/10 Check out quality - 3/10 Return - probably NO
This hotel is very basic and in need of a facelift. Our room smelt of stale cigarettes and the shower didn't work properly and was in need of a good scrub in the bathroom the tiles were filthy. In the right up it states that there are bars and restaurants around the area we couldn't find any. The only good thing was being right on the metro so you could get into Amsterdam Central easily.
Good decent size room with satisfactory facilities. Housekeeping cleaned our room every day and always topped up our tea/coffee sugar etc. Bathroom was ok and television had various languages to watch. Only room for improvement would be provide 4 pillows for a twin room, rather than 3.
Stayed here in December with my boyfriend for three nights and was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is for the price! It's cheap because it's outside of the city centre but it's a two minute walk to the metro which takes you straight into the centre so it's definitely worth keeping clear of the centre to save some money! I think a day ticket for the metro was €7, and they had an option that worked out cheaper for 48hours etc so it's really no problem if you're going for a short break in dam. The hotel itself is an easy drive from the airport, we pre booked a taxi online but I think you can get the train or metro directly from the airport. It looks like an American motel from the outside but the room was really nice and spacious, and the staff were all really friendly. There's a heater in the bathroom but you can only turn it on for 15 minutes at a time using a dial which sits above the toilet. The hotel lobby has a range of maps and discount cards, which you can use during your stay which will save you money if you're planning on going out in the day. Overall it was a really good stay and I'd recommend the hotel to anyone purely because of how convenient it is and how much money you'll save!
I have been staying at this hotel on and off for nearly 20 years now and it is testament to Lisbeth and Eric who have been the managers here all that tine. It is always a pleasure to stay at the hotel and all the staff from the bottom to the top work as a team and nothing is ever a problem them for them. OK , you get what you pay for and the place and the place could do with a lick of paint in places but you cant fault the place for location and friendly staff
Okay, for the record: I'm a scouts girl so I'm okay with no hygiene. If you choose so. Seen as you pay €80 per night, I think you are entitled to a working toilet at least.. The beds were okay but.. The cushions were so small as if they were for children. There was only one plug so you can't load the batteries of your phone and camera simultanously. The window can only be opened if you are big (luckily my partner was there to help), there was a lot of noise outside but also in the other rooms and you could hear everything. There was no fridge. It was really hot in there etc.. (I can go on.) But the worst? The toilet didn't flush so you could go but you couldn't flush and then your room takes over that odour. And the sink didn't run through so we had to brush our teeth above the shower which was hard to do because the bathroom was so small. When checking out I told the lady at the desk about the toilet and the sink (the rest is not so bad but just something you have to live with for a couple of days). She said 'okay I'll pass that information' and we had to pay full price. Okay they are a budget hotel so they shouldn't care about customer satisfaction. But really they should because that's what modern marketing is all about. Well doesn't matter. I won't go there again, I hope you won't either and if you go there I hope you get a better experience. :)
I work for a coach company and stay at this hotel twice a week. I come here on my own after dropping passengers at Amsterdam. I find the rooms adequate and the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I've walked into reception at 8am and at 1130pm, and the staff have always welcomed me with a smile. The trip into the centre of town takes approximately 20 minutes by train and the station is literally across the road from the hotel. It's not a 5 star hotel but you get a comfortable bed, nice shower, tasty breakfast and lovely dinner. Recommended!,
