We've been to Amsterdam on several occasions and this was far and away the very best place we've stayed. The reception by the host was warm and welcoming and the space is just lovely, roomy and quirky with loads of great touches (wine, goodies in the room). Our apartment was roomy and looked on to a small courtyard which was gorgeous. It's also well placed near the train station and in great slightly less tourist spot. Just fabulous!!
Excellent stay at Barangay B&B. Hosts very welcoming and forthcoming with information - offered a drink on arrival and upgraded to apartment. Decor very quirky and interesting, apartment clean. Breakfast delivered to room every morning - very good. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary - bouquet of flowers put in our room from hosts, lovely personal touch. Great location, would definitely stay at Barangay again. Thank you!
Had the best bnb experience ever. The room is very nice and clean. The breakfast were so delicious! The location is very convenient. Will definitely recommend to my friends and stay here again next time when I come to AMS!!!
Can highly recommend this B&B in a great location perfectly placed for all the city sights and only a 5 min walk from the station. Rooms are great and nothing is too much trouble and great breakfasts served to your room. Thanks guys for looking after us and helping to make it a great weekend
We stayed here for a short break in Amsterdam in May this year, and booked this B&B as the breakfasts looked amazing the reviews were very good! We were not disappointed. Although we'd booked online, they did ring us to let us know that 2 separate rooms were available over the 2 nights, so we'd have to switch rooms, but offered us a discounted rate, or to cancel for free, so we took the discount. Upon arrival we were very warmly greeted and shown to our room which was lovely. On our second day, our bags were moved to the new room for us. The location is ideal as it's just a 10 min walk from the train station and very central. Both rooms we stayed in were lovely, and the breakfasts were amazing!! We had omelettes the first morning, and crepes the next. We would definitely recommend. Thank you all! x
My wife and I have just returned from 4 days in Amsterdam (1st to 4th Oct)and luckily for us we went with the majority of trip advisor reviewers and stayed at the excellent Barangay. Firstly the directions given by the guys from the train station were spot on and we got straight there in about 10 mins. We were greeted by the brilliant Edson who was very welcoming and looked after us for our stay. As it was our first time in Amsterdam we were given a map and the main tourist areas and even provided with a card with the owners numbers on in case we had any difficulties whilst out and about. We were shown to our tropical room on the lower ground floor (be aware this is down a steep winding staircase if you're infirm) but this is Amsterdam and all places we visited had similar staircases) The room was amazing there was a welcome basket with wine, cakes etc and the room itself was better than many 4 or 5 star hotels we have stayed very spacious with tea/coffee making facilities and pretty much everything and more you needed and spotlesslly clean. The bathroom was modern and large with a lovely big showers and plenty of toilet rolls and plug points! Lovely big comfortable bed. Even a small seating outside area. My wife commented that it looked like the guys had stayed in the rooms themselves and knew exactly what was required. Edson asked what time we would like breakfast and each morning he was there at the room with the most amazing tray of food we had omelettes, pancakes and quiche on our 3 mornings complimented with cereal, toast, fresh fruit and yoghurt more than enough to start your day. We were even allowed to leave our bags as we had a late flight on Wednesday evening and on returning to get our case I think it was Wimmo(apologies if incorrect) greeted us and gave my wife a little diary. The Barangay was for us perfect and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone and already have to family and friends. Thanks guys for a wonderful stay and a very big thank you to Edson. 7 minute easy walk from Station, even with bags. Location Location you can walk everywhere. The hospitality the room the breakfast the personal (Edwin) are all to kill for. It doesn't get any better than this,
Barangay is a bit different from the three other B&Bs I've stayed in in Amsterdam. Edson, who was on duty during our visit, and the cats Billy and Moss, are terrific hosts. Edson gave us lots of good advice about restaurants and getting around the city. I'm not accustomed to having breakfast in the room, which meant that there wasn't the selection I'd had: one day had crepes and the other day had ham and cheese (both days had cereal, fruit, juice, and yogurt). You make your own coffee. Also, while our room had a small patio, that was the only opening to the outside. Another room had door access and a third room had a large window. Anyway, I think Amsterdam B&Bs might be getting scarcer than they were 5 and more years ago.
We chose this b&b for our eight day stay in Amsterdam because of its location. It is a 7 minute walk from the Central Train Station, where you can catch a train, bus or tram to just about anywhere in the Netherlands and beyond. That turned out to be a great choice, as we took some form of public transportation every day. Trains go from the airport to Central Station very often, are cheap and easy. It was an easy walk to the b&b, even with luggage. The place was nice, very clean and well equipped. We had a tiny sitting room, a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen with table and chairs. 2 televisions, hair dryer, everything you could want. Breakfast was a highlight, something different every day. The pancakes were SO good, and everything looked just as delicious as it tasted. The welcome basket of candy, cookies, wine etc. was a nice surprise. It's different from b&b's in the US in that you don't see much of the hosts, and we saw nothing of other guests. Not a problem, just interesting. We would certainly stay there again.
This is an excellent place to stay. The location is ideal as it's a 4 minute walk from Central Station and near to the main area of the city. It's also close to a street with places to eat and a walk up to one of the parks, if you are looking for somewhere quieter. If you don't mind walking, everything is within 30 minutes walk and as most walks are along the many canals, you won't feel like it's a trek. The Barangay itself is lovely. We were greeted on arrival and asked if he would like a drink. We both had a welcome beer after our flight. We were given a map and were given some suggestions about places to visit. We stayed in one of the tropical rooms in the basement. This was attached to a very small patio, but it was nice if you wanted to sit outside and have a drink. The room was decorated beautifully and the welcome basket was a nice touch. Most of the Trip Advisor reviews say about the breakfasts which are brought to your room on a tray each morning. Well, it's true- the breakfasts are fantastic! We stayed for 4 nights and each breakfast was different, apart from the standard bowl of cereal, fruit, toast, rolls or crossiants and orange juice. We were served omelette the first morning, sweet pancakes the second, quiche the third and savoury pancakes the last morning. Everything was freshly made. I do have one suggestion however. I like to eat my food nice and hot and I had to eat the cooked food before my cereal and yogurt. Maybe the hot food plate could have a cover on? As I said, it's a suggestion, not a criticism Before coming to Amsterdam, I had emailed the Barangay to ask if it would be possible to leave our luggage at the b&b until about 6pm the last day as our flight wasn't until 10pm. The owners were more than happy for us to store our cases. We were given a key so that we could collect the cases whenever we needed to. One final bonus of staying at this b&b was seeing the two cats! If I ever come to Amsterdam again, I will not look for other places to stay in. I would book here without hesitation. Thank you for making our stay so good.
