Traveling with my elderly parents so was thankful we could reserve a spacious handicap accessible corner room with two queen beds. Staff was very attentive to our needs when we asked for more hard-boiled eggs at breakfast & towels for the pool. The closed pool sign was still up at 915AM when it was suppose to open at 8AM. A kind staff member opened it & tested the water right away so we could get in a swim before leaving!! Great variety of cold & hot items for breakfast. Comfy beds. Good service! Would stay here again!!

Room was sooooooo quiet. Worked very well for a night sleep.

This hotel stunk really badly. Ironically, I had to initial a paper that said I would not smoke, yet my room smelled like smoke and was very gross. It actually took my breath away when I walked in....to top it off, it had an ash tray on the table. I think I was lied to about a nonsmoking room.

Was pleasantly surprised how quiet the room was when we saw was close it was to Interstate & US Hwy. We both got a great nights sleep. Breakfast was good, covered all the bases. The front desk people were great always telling us to let them know if we needed anything.

The staff was very friendly and helpful throuhgout my business stay. They assisted me with my late check-in, provided me a timely wake-up call, and aidded me in utilizing their printing resources in preparation for my interview.

Stayed here with kids. Great value. Small but adequate pool. Good breakfast.

Great breakfast buffet. Quiet room, Pool needs renovation.

Clean room and good attention. Good location. Near to Duff avenue and Iowa State University.

Even though not newly renovated, the hotel seemed to be solidly built, well insulated and was very comfortable. The room is spacious, clean and surprisingly quite even though it is right next to a highway. Cleaning staff does a wonderful job. Reception staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast is average. Free Wifi did not work well.

The hotel was going through some renovation, but our room was clean and had new carpet. The breakfast was pretty average, and the pool didn't make you want to get in.

It was fine, bare bones type of place to stay, breakfast average

This was for a one night stay, got in really late, room was very clean, but smelled a little old. It had a working frig and microwave. The bathroom was really clean, with plenty of towels. No hassle checking in or out. The complimentary breakfast was plenty of food, muffins, cereal, milk, orange juice and fresh coffee. I would stay here again if need be.

Good for the price. my second time there it's good.

Since our trip was to visit Iowa State, Econo Lodge Ames is in a convenient location-right off the express way and is less than 10 minutes away from Iowa State. They serve a small breakfast to start you day and you can dip into their pool before you go to bed. For dinner you can go to the Mexican Resturant across the street or go into Ames for a variety fast food or sit down resturant. It is not a 5 star hotel but it has everything you can find in a 5 star hotel. I had an excellent stay.

Ames IA Econo Lodge provides a clean, quiet room for a reasonable price. The motel accepts pets with a $10.00 fee per pet, and there is ample space for the pets to take care of their business. Good value for the price.

First the lady at the front desk got so lost and then did not tell us the information we needed. We had to go back to the front desk multiple times as our keys did not work their was not remote control to the TV. The code she wrote to access the internet was wrong. The outside door to protect you against just anyone coming in was broken.

The check in was fast, but both at the check-in and check-out there were other guest who were not happy and asked to talk to the Manger. The Manager was never on-site and probably should have been for a big football weekend in Ames. I probably would not stay there again. It was a 2 star hotel, so my expectations were low.

I stayed in Ames for a conference and booked this hotel based on price and the fact that most other choices were already take (booked last minute). Overall the hotel was adequate, and considering the price I wasn't expecting anything super great. The room was a decent size and the bathroom looked recently updated and clean. My only complaint was that there was a slight odor (musty/smoke?) in the room which was not great.

Everything was fine. They were kind enough to let us check in early which helped with our schedule.

Very basic hotel; from the facilities to the 'continental breakfast'. Appears to be one of the older hotels in the vicinity. (Just a warning: set your expectations low and you won't be disappointed). Apart from a few other hotels, a Mexican restaurant, and a gas station, its pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Guess services directory was limited and non-informative. Though room was non-smoking you could pretty much tell that the hotel had many smoking rooms in one of the wings. As a result, the hallways and the room smelled like they had been smoked in many a time. Overall, if you have to stay a night or two (when visiting ISU or overnighting on a long road trip) its bearable but pending availability there are several other hotels in the vicinity that should treat you a little kinder.
