Super 8 - Algona

Pretty typical Super 8. Hall smelled very strongly like an old cigarette smoke. The room was only slightly better smelling. It did have a fridge & mic, which was nice. The work desk was big, but the chair was way too low, with no way to adjust it, making it useless. A major pain was the lack of outlets. For everything I needed to plug in, I had to unplug something else. Don't they assume that travelers will need plug-ins? One other annoyance was the bathroom fan: extremely loud - sounded like it was about to fall apart (or explode). Like I said, typical Super 8.

New management is trying to do everything alone(no employees). Front desk/housekeeping/management appears to be one person. Speaks very little English. The smell in the hallway is not good.

Bad customer service and very unclean out of date rooms, had to cancel the 2nd night of our stay and was supposed to get money back that was never returned.

Do not stay at this hotel! We stayed there 1 night and woke up to massive bug bites all over our necks, arms, legs, stomach, back. We reported it to hotel staff right away but the gentleman at the desk said "we don't have bed bugs". Sorry but you have a severe problem and my son and I are horribly miserable today. Not to mention my son has a congenital heart defect which puts him at a high risk for infection from the bites. Yes we have contacted the doctor already. We have reported this also to Wyndem Customer Service also. Be very careful!!!

This hotel is old, but it was suitable for our needs for 1 night. The main complaint I had was it was very humid in the room all night, almost to the point of not being able to breathe through all the humidity. But again for 1 night it was fine. You can tell they are trying to update it which is a plus. I had a room on the bottom floor. I didn't hear anyone walking above me or toilets running ect like mentioned in other comments. Also the room had lots of light coming from the window, almost too much since the curtain didn't cover the entire window, but not really that big of an issue. I would stay here again if I needed to, but if it was for more than 1 or 2 nights I think I might try and find a different place to stay. The room we stayed in had 2 full size beds which is a much smaller bed then my family is used to, but we delt with it. Overall it was a good place to stay. And the Mexican restaurant was excellent next door.

While this hotel is better than the burr oak, bug infested dump down the road, it has its flaws! It is nice looking in the room but it does have issues and the rooms are very small! The manager is easy to work with and very nice though! We did have a few issues here and there but overall it was a good stay! Again the rooms are nice just smaller! It is updated and the furniture is nice! But if you stay extended he is very touchy about the sheets being washed and the towels so I went and bought my own! Also the cleaning staff works very slow, so I wouldn't get my room clean until evening time!

This motel seems to have been around awhile but it was quite clean and the staff was friendly enough. It's located near the street but traffic noise did not interrupt our sleep which was great! Restaurants and some shopping was nearby.

This Super8 is a bit dated but a very clean place to stay. We enjoyed our stay on August 29, 2015. Our room was a bit dated but the bed was comfortable and very clean. It was quiet and the staff was very nice!

We arrived early so we couldn't check in. We were lead to a small but good food. Not your McDonalds or Pizza Ranch. Which they do have in the town. Our stay (2 days) were spend exploring the area. Nice people and great little shops, farmers market was nice. We found all this with the help of the person at the front desk, many thanks!

We spent a couple days here on our way to Sturgis..Just OK and somewhat reasonable at $80 per night..rooms were updated but hallways were old..Our room was sub-grade and Air Conditioner was old and poor working order. no laundry and not to good of Wi-Fi..good Mexican restaurant next door.
