We were a little unfortunate to be given an apartment without a sea view because we were expecting this having booked with Jet2holidays, however the apartment was clean and comfortable and the beach was amazing. Swimming in the Atlantic was challenging but also exhilarating and the water was warmer than the pool. Lovely holiday with good restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend Lacorne Indian restaurant.
Nice hotel in a good location. Went last week of October holidays and hotel wasn't busy. No problem with sun beds etc Nicely equipped room. We were self catering and managed fine - plenty of choice out and about for a week Pool was a bit cold but we still went in I would go back there
Stayed here for a week at the end of October. From the moment we arrived and were told we had rooms in block 2 with sea views we knew we were going to be in for an excellent holiday!! We arrived a few hours before check in so left our luggage in their secure room and strolled down the hill to the beach where this is a good choice of restaurants for varying tastes and budgets!! Back up the hill to check in and it was worth the wait.......see pictures!! The room is a little dated but the complex is now closed for a full refurb so this won’t be an issue and certainly wasn’t an issue anyway!! The room was bright and airy, black out curtains in the bedrooms and a lovely balcony!! Fully equipped kitchen, fridge with Ice Box etc everything you needed for self catering!! We didn’t eat at the restaurant or bar but the prices seemed to reflect average hotel prices and weren’t overly expensive!! The pool area and bar were lovely, recently renovated with plenty of sun loungers!! The pool isn’t heated so was ‘refreshing’ but the kids never seemed bothered!! The Animation Team were particularly good, morning, afternoon and evening sessions with lots of different activities!! We joined in with then karaoke and quiz night!! Adriana and Diago were particularly good!! We also hired a car, after getting a couple of prices in the town, we went to reception who contacted a local firm which were cheaper and delivered and collected the car from the hotel!! Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again!!
Pros: Lovely views from the restaurant. Nice spacious, modern apartments. Fabulous long, long beach (safe enough for toddlers on low tide - not so much at high tide) Great reception staff. Nice pool area. (although sea was warmer than the pool in October) Food – we went half board. - Breakfast - Good but fairly typical (although poor machine coffee – recommend getting a black coffee and adding your own milk). - Dinner – Lovely views if you sit in the balcony area, good service, food was fine if a little unimaginative. Good quality salads but maybe a bit basic. Desserts typical for half board. The restaurant was very, very quiet in the evening when we were there in October but an evening buffet suits us as we have fussy kids. They cant make much money in the evenings but the drink costs must help them break even. (4E a pint) Negatives: Apartment bathroom a bit dated although the shower was good and had endless hot water. Lounge sofa beds mattresses not great. Not really much else bad really – I guess the apts could get noisy depending on your neighbours – we were in block 9 off the water front. The steps to the beach is simple and quick but not ideal for buggies (not that buggies can be used on sand anyway) Could do with more things for teenagers such as a table tennis or a pool table. There is a tennis court which my two enjoyed. In summary – I’d recommend this place if you like this part of Portugal. I doubt we will be back as we found this coast a bit too commercialized for our taste.
Booked through Jet2holidays holidays with a free child place in October half term. From start to finish the service was excellent. The hotel is fabulous. The views spectacular. The pool and the beach, amazing. The local bars and restaurants are very good. Please note that this is a very quiet area, so if it's party time your after this isn't the place for you. Family area yes. It really is a fantastic find. The only downside is the entertainment s Team. They aren't very entertaining and won't let you be. I wasn't interested in darts, quizzes or water pollution. Wish they would learn what no means. Reception staff excellent. Bar staff too. Maids superb. Thanks for a great holiday.
POSITIVES: We stayed 11 nights in early October - our first time in the Algarve. We certainly landed on our feet with the hotel. It's very unusual to feel that website pictures don't do a hotel justice. The communal area is modern, stylish and well maintained and the pool area is bigger than we expected from the pics. The apartments could do with redecoration but were perfectly comfortable - our 1-bed had good sized bedroom and bathrooom, well equipped kitchen and large comfortable living area with feature fireplace. Strange, then, that we couldn't open the wardrobe doors and drawers fully as they were blocked by the bed and bedside cabiinet. We paid for bed & breakfast and loved the breakfast with lots of choice but felt the price when paying locally was high (see also "negatives" below). The hotel sits on top of a cliff overlooking the sea with great views (but only even numbered apartments have direct sea view) and there are well-maintained but steep steps down (not great for anyone with any physical difficulty) but we only used the beach once as the sea was more suited to surfing and sunbeds cost 15 euros a day. We stayed most days by the pool although it gets very crowded (usually we were able to get a decent swim at some point in the day). The local town is more traditional than many nearby towns (despite still having a lot of modern development) and has plenty of traditional type restaurants plus a Chinese, an Indian and a Thai/Japanese restaurant (we stuck to the traditional places). Most places, including bars, are within a 10 minute walk downhill. There's a good supermarket 10 minutes away and a large Hypermarche 20 minutes away. But this means uphill on the way back of course. NEGATIVES: The bar, snack bar and restaurant prices seemed high compared with local bars & restaurants (4 euro for a beer compared with under 3). We prefer to eat out so this didn't bother us but buffet dinner was about 24 euros per person without drinks (discounts given for multiple pre-bookings). We rarely paid even the discounted price WITH drinks when eating out. Despite lots of notices around the pool saying "No inflatables", no notice seemed to be taken by guests with children. These take up so much room it's difficult to get a decent swim when there are several in the pool and they can be dangeous. Staff say nothing and the shop attached to the hotel even sells the things! Very few parents with children seemed to use the separate childrens' pool area!!
We have just come back from our half term holiday here and want to book another! It's such a nice place and the staff are very friendly. The hotel is situated by the beach, which you can access from the hotel down some steps. The hotel is very nice, the food is lovely, even the toilets in reception and by the pool are exceptionally clean! The pool is great with an entertainment team doing activities throughout the day. There's entertainment of an evening too although probably not as much as there would be in the summer. We visited Zoomarine (about 98 euros for 4 people) which is worth a visit. We also went to the wonderful beach. You can hire beds 15 euros for two or the sand may suffice. There's decent toilets and showers (1 euro) and a nice cafe. The hotel rooms are quite decent with a good balcony. We were fortunate to have a sea/pool view. Cleaners came most days. There's a short walk from the hotel to eateries, going left or right at the bottom of the street. We liked Calibra, San Martino and Palace Indian. We were not at all fussed on Pinochios. We were self catering so we went out most nights. A couple of times we ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant and one night ate dinner there and the food we thought, was very nice. You need to book 24 hours in advance to get a slight discount. All in all for our first visit to Portugal, we were very impressed. I really can't fault Falesia Mar or the staff and really hope we get to go there again!
Lovely place, beautiful views. Animation team very friendly and they encourage you to get involved but are not forceful. Bar prices are expensive compared to other bars in the area for alcoholic drinks, but the cans of pop are cheaper, 1 can did 2 measures of gin,no pop on pump. The views are worth the extra though.
I recently stayed here with my 3 year old and she loved it! We went self catering and ate breakfast down the road everyday, full English for about 5 euros!!... there’s enough restaurants around the area to eat in! The entertainment at night was basic but fun and our 3 year old loved dancing to the music! The view from our room was amazing, only Problem is if you have a push-chair there’s no lifts. We also visited the zoo marine theme park which was also included in the holiday price! This was brilliant. All in all we had a brilliant time and would deffo go back!
We stayed here earlier this month and found the resort to be great, far exceeding our expectations. The facilities in the apartment were great (we were in block 12) with a newly refurbished kitchen with everything we required. and modern bathroom. Air conditioning was very effective and new large TV in the room. Balcony had a view of the garden and, at a stretch the sea. The resort reception looked brand new and staff were very helpful regarding check-in, even though we arrived very early as a result of our flight. They were also great on check-out as we had a late flight back. The pool and pool bar area was very well maintained with more than enough sun lounger, clean and spacious pool and hot tub. The animation staff provided regular activities but were not too pushy. We did not eat in the restaurant but it looked nice. The whole area around the bar/restaurant/pool looked great with fantastic views of the cliffs and the sea. The steps down to the beach were definitely not as bad as some reviewers made out. The resort is situated close to the village, just a few minutes walk down hill, and close to a number of nice bars and restaurants. I'd recommend a visit to the Black Cat Jazz Bar in the village for a unique and unforgettable experience. Don't miss the other beach - not down the steps - but down the main road through the village as it is an excellent beach. All in all I would have no difficulty recommending this hotel to others. Great staff, friendly atmosphere, well maintained grounds, good facilities, great wifi. Definitely would merit another star. I'd definitely return.
