I, like many people reading the reviews on here was very worried at what to expect! But honestly its really not that bad! We arrived early morning, was greeted by a lady on reception, checked us in and gave us a map to our room, a room maid saw our confused faces and happily showed us where we were staying. No smells greeted us, apartment was clean and spacious, yes old fashioned but fine. Big living room with small balcony but big enough for table and 3 chairs. We only booked a 1 bed apartment but were given a 2 bed (double bed in one room and 2 singles in the other) Pillows seen better days but everything clean. Bathroom clean, yes the flooring was chipped and the bath was marked but no big deal. You get what you pay for and for £40 a night it really wasn't that bad! We literally used it to get ready and sleep! Kitchen had everything you needed, we didn't use anything but the fridge though! Pool nice, lady in the pool bar really lovely and worked very hard all day. Don't take your own drinks to the pool! Only thing I would complain about is that the rooms were very dark, one tiny light in the bedrooms and locked shutters on the windows prevented you from opening to get more light in. Strip literally down the road, reception charges €1 to phone a taxi and a taxi to the strip costs less than €4. Give it a try if your going for afew days, its cheap and cheerful and not that bad! Its what you make of the time away that counts and this is just a base. Would i return again?? Yes why not :)
Was a concerned as a lot of people have been with the reviews. But as some recent reviews have said not to bad at all. First its not a hotel !! It is a series of apartments which all back on the pool/ gardens area. Which is fantastic, the pool bar/cafe area is manned by a lovely lady who cooks serves drinks and does it all with a smile. Prices here are very good beer and food excellent. Now the room we had 220 end of one side of the area on the corner of two roads. We were shown where this was by the lady in reception. She was happy to guide us to are room as it was dark once we asked her to. I can see why people may think they are not helpful, but i believe if you ask you get. On entry to the room (top one of 3) it was very retro !! but huge there was just two of us large bedroom lounge are balcony area. The apartment was clean and tidy. Once we had got back from a few drinks we got back and slept well. Now it was a bit noisy with passing cars lorries during the night but nothing awful, A couple with a baby were below us and again no real noise. There was a mix of people a group of girls and a couple of groups of four or so lads, some couples and family with young children they were all fine and quite entertaining around the pool the girls and lads played a nice mix of music which was great. and not too loud. We enjoyed our time around the pool, Were this complex comes into its own is its position ten mins from The Strip, so close enough but not in the middle of all the noise!!. The beach is about 20 mins walk away too. Overall this place is great value for money as long as you remember its not a 5 star Hotel. However I would say the only problem i could see would be the other people who stay we had nice people so were lucky.
Arrived late Friday (22nd) given a map by reception to locate our room which was very confusing to say the least , after eventually finding what I would consider a very nice room with everything we needed for a very pleasant week there were no complaints from us , don’t be put off by negative reviews. Only down side was having to pay an extra 32€ to keep our room for an extra few hours , it’s a rip off to have to pay for room you have already paid for (I did not pay half price for the last day so in effect you get charged twice ) it’s something the hotel should look at because it is wrong. Local area being reconstructed so expect a bit of noise but overall the area is a great place to stay , Erin’s isle is just around the corner for some decent entertainment and food and main strip about 15 minuets away. I would recommend a trip into the old town during your stay for some great restaurants and bars .
We booked to stay here, but after reading the reviews decide to try and cancel and get our deposit back. Fortunately we got it back and booked elsewhere. When we did go on our holiday, nearly the whole end of the strip near this hotel was dead and closed up, largely because the Montechoro hotel is being refurbished. Glad we didn't bother in the end.
Im not really sure why people have got it in for this place and scaring off potential visitors. Okay, its not 5* but then, did you pay 5* prices? No. The balcony is huge and has a basic table & chairs and 2 sunloungers - all fine. Its also a great little sun trap and far enough away from the pool to not be disrupted by the noise. Kitchen had an oven, washing machine, tall fridge freezer, toaster, microwave and lots of storage. Again, its not a chefs kitchen, but it is clean and everything works. Managed to make our own cooked breakfast each day despite the limited pans! Yes, we did notice a smell when we arrived, which was due to the washing machine having not been used. So we put it on a cycle and problem solved! I am super clean and didn't feel comfortable until it was up to my particular standards. There was a mop and brush etc there, so gave it a once over which gave me peace of mind, but thats just me. There are no cloths or Fairy there either, so you will have to buy those. Bathroom is large and has no lock on the door, but it is clean and hot water was in plentiful supply. Also plenty of storage and towels as well as soap and shower gel/shampoo which do get replenished. Rooms again had lots of storage. Beds were a bit on the hard side but the linen was clean and extra pillows etc in supply. Living room has a table and chairs - a bit rickety but fine. Also a couple of seen-better-days sofas but again, both fine. There were no dodgy electrics or insects scuttling into corners. I also met a group of girls who were staying in another, larger apartment, so went to see it and that too looked really clean and spacious. Cleaners came every day to change loo roll and take rubbish. Towels were changed at least twice in the week, and bedding once. Staff were fine to me. They do charge a Euro to book a taxi but 50 cents to print your boarding passes, which was really handy. Also Wifi only works in reception which can be a bit inconvenient. The pool is the place to be! Its really beautiful and sunny and the snack bar is reasonable with a really nice lady working every day! There were a couple of stag dos around the pool, but they were fine, at least they were having a good time! We also spoke to other people around the pool who were also at a loss as to why the reviews were so bad on here. Everyone was actually really happy with their accommodation. The place is a ten minute walk from the strip, but in reality the bars & restaurants start way before you get to the centre. There is a supermarket 5 mins down the road, a friendly Irish bar that can get a bit rowdy but the staff are uber friendly and at least its there if you need it. Chinese buffet etc, all in the vicinity. BE WARNED: The strip isn't for everyone. You will get hounded to go into bars and there are drug pushers there as well. Found a nice cocktail bar there though and lots of live music. The beach at the end is nice and full of little caves and things to explore and nice places to eat. 5 Euros will get you into the old town, which some people prefer for a night out. Plenty of places to eat for reasonable prices. I found it a bit Brits Abroad, so if you want more culture, do a bit of research. All in all, we had a great stay. DON'T be too put off by the moaners if you have already booked. And just bear in mind what the Manager said in another review: If you want 5*, then pay 5* prices. If you want functional accommodation with enough facilities for a pleasant stay - you could do a lot worse for the price. Its absolutely fine.
Just arrived here today , worried by previous reviews , can we just say , reception young lady was lovely , gardens and pool clean and pretty , apartment large clean and with pool view , don't know what we worried about , don't be put off it's really nice , I would come back for sure and I am fussy
Visited here after originally booking their sister hotel, and was then 'upgraded' by travel republic to this place. After reading the reviews we were disappointed and was expecting the worse, however we couldn't have been happier upon arrival. Big villa all to ourselves (5 lads). 4 big bedrooms, 3 superate bathrooms, kitchen, garden area. Nice and clean. Didn't use the pool but didn't hear anything you would class as bad or see anything untoward. Really happy with the accommodation. 10 min walk from the strip and in a quiet location. For the price we paid we were well happy. Would highly recommend
Stayed here for 5 days and thank God it was no longer. Arrived at 22.30 given a map off reception to find our room, searched for 20mins couldn't find it went back to reception and was tutted at. Finally found our apartment but upon opening the door we was met with a god damn awful smell so much so it made me heave. The floors were filthy inside and out, the electrics were a big health hazard. Our apartment had no plugs for sinks/bath, did ask for 1 everyday as I had a 3yr old who hates showers but never got 1. Rooms are very outdated and definitely in need of a refurb. The pool area and gardens and pool bar are well maintained shame they don't look after the rooms the same. We found it very quiet with not much around that particular area but for 5 euros you get a taxi into albuferi. Towels are changed twice a week bedding once a week.
I don't normally write reviews but feel like I need to with these apartments. I was massively anxious after reading such awful reviews on here weeks before we were due to go 😳 I tried to cancel three times and they would not allow it without a 50% charge so we just went and thought we'd deal with it when we arrived. Much to my surprise our room was ready at 4pm, yes it was old fashioned but it was clean, tidy and even had towels and shampoo etc layed out on each bed! The pool wasn't too busy with a few families and one hen do who were no trouble! I can understand why people are angry though, on our last night a group of girls checked in right underneath us, why would they do this? Surely they should have families and couples on one side and large groups on the other. Luckily we were leaving as a group of about a twenty idiot stags turned up jumping in the pool in their jeans and leaving their shoes on the restaurant tables!! 😷😷😷 the receptionist in the day was lovely, although the one in the evening wasn't helpful, I asked about the small train and she had no idea lol, I googled it. I would recommend in the week but avoid at weekends if going with family.
My friend booked this hotel for a hen party. 6 girls arrived (2 of which were pregnant) at 12am to find ut they had given our room to someone else and had no space for us. We ended up squatting in the lobby for 2 hours as the not very helpful guy on the reception (who also seemed to find it funny) phoned around other hotels to get us a room. Trying not to ruin the whole weekend we tried to make light of the situation however we were not getting a very positive response on there being anywhere for us to stay. 3 hours later we ended up staying in the Cheerfulway Cerro Atlantico, a sister hotel of this one. We didn't get to experience the hotel and I'm not thankful we didn't. Absolute shambles!
