The hotel isn't as bad as people make it out to be, the rooms were very large, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean, the room we had came with a basic kitchen with a fridge. There is no air con in the bedroom only in the lounge. There was no wifi in the room. The pool was clean although they could do with buying some new sun beds.
We stayed in 2 Cheerfulway Valmangude Jardim Apartments from 15/9/17 for one week. I phoned a few days before arrival to request ground floor apartments and this was granted. Our apartment was spacious but dark, dated and in need of some decoration, but was clean and was swept every day. Situated near a busy road,we found it noisy at night. Safe was 3€ per day. Towels were only changed once during the week, beds were made up daily. Pools and pool areas were disappointing, (pools cleaned only twice in 7 days) - with bird droppings and broken/cracked tiles, gardeners cutting grass and bushes during the day - all potential hazards. "Sunbeds" were in such poor condition that the vast majority of them were not usable! There is no Manager on site. Location is ok being about 10mins. from The Strip, 15mins. from the beach and Old Town. We used the Road Train to get about (5€ per person all day ticket) and the nearest stop was about 5mins away. Rail Station is 10€ Taxi ride away and we used this to travel to Lagos for a day. This complex has potential but appears to be "run down" at the moment with no positive signs of improvement and in my opinion should be rated as a 2 Star property at best.
Hi have to say just back from this hotel/appartments. Have to say when i read the reveiws, i was in two minds to go or not. Please to say we didn't listen to reveiws. I think u have to see for ur self, plus we have stayed here before. When we got there, Antonio was there with a smile on his face nothing to much for him to help u. Rooms great big size, had all u needed for ur stay. But must say the place needs new sun beds badly as the ones there are well pass there sell by dates. There was all so a group of English fellas who were over the top in the way they acted, no Respect of any kind for other ppl by the pool & the mess they left, poor Anna had to clean it up. Doesn't take much to put things in a bin. So please don't go on wat some ppl say about this we jem of a place. We will be back next sep. It is close to strip & old town, no taxi needed. BUT PLEASE GET NEW SUN BEDS.
Very run down from the dodgy wall sockets to the seat less toilets.Out side pool in need of attention broken tiles inside and outside of pool.grounds themselves nice and well maintained.decent snack bar at reasonable prices.
we stayed here for a long weekend without the kids. rooms were massive but very dated and basic which was fine for us as it was just somewhere to sleep. the hotel was virtually empty which was also good for us as there was no need to get up early for sunbeds. now for the bad points : staff are so miserable. pool area was never cleaned in the days we were there. most of the sunbeds are ancient leaving you sinking through them. Pool bar dark and dingie. cleaner leaves you with no toilet roll. Hotel bar only open once in our entire stay. No atmosphere at hotel what so ever. all the things above didn't matter to much to us as it was just a chilled out few days away. But if I had taken my kids here I would have been gutted.
We arrived on Sunday family of four after Being transferred from Other overbooked hotel we paid for originally. Rooms Are dated but clean. Major problem with room cleaning service ! If you won't go to get fresh towels or toilet roll to reception yourself you won't get any !!! Cleaners knocking on the door at9am every morning to clean the floors!!!!! Even tho asked every morning to do their jobs when guests are out and about during the day . Pools are ok - Good for children and quite clean. Bar by the pool very expensive don't bother ! And last- wifi they are offering is not really working so forget about free access to the internet ! Great place for breakfast lunch and dinner just opposite hotel called Bella Cannella with great kind staff
We arrived at the hotel at 5pm, so well after the check in time and we were told that our room wasn't ready but if we wanted to put our bags in we could so we did. We got to our room only to find out that the door was broken and you could easily break into it with a credit card by slipping the lock. We complained to the receptionist and told him that our room is unsafe and totally insecure, so we were moved to another room which was just as worse, the sofa bed was broken the room was dated and in disarray, and the sheets looked as though they had not been changed, we complained again and was provided some new sheeting but our sofa bed wasn't replaced even after being promised. The place is noisy as hell the young Dutch kids that stay party all day and all night, and basically take over the pool, they slam doors run around shouting and they have no respect for other residents If you have a young family and enjoy clean sheets, towels and some peace and quiet then don't stay here, in fact I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The place needs a total refurb, a new everything.
Great location. cheap and cheerful.. we booked a double room but it ended up being all one room nice and spacious tho but our bed was a pull out sofa which was really hard and uncomfortable to sleep on and barely enough room for 2 people.. Pool area and bar was really nice and had everything you would need nice cold drinks and decent food..The staff in the bar/pool area do a great job.. we did have to ask for clean towels a few times.Think there was 1 iron in hotel so maybe a laundry/ironing room would be an idea..Lots of young people partying at pool so be perfect for that type of holiday.Overall i would give these apartments 7/10 and we had a pleasant stay here you get what you pay for 😊
This hotel is far from cheerful , unless you are Dutch 18-30 don't want to sleep and trash the joint this is not a hotel for you. We booked this hotel as it advertised a kids pool and play park so assuming suitable for families, On arrival we were greeted by 20 Dutch checking in so we knew this was not fir us immediately, When we entered the room we had no bedding , pillows (well there was 2 stained not suitable for a dog) or towels. And broken door locks on both apartments, Now 11:30pm our kids were shattered ! Went to reception to talk to quite possibly the rudest women in the world to basically shrug her shoulders and says laundry is broken !!!! We had to go and buy our own pillows so we spent 80 euros within minutes of checking in , we used our pool towels to sleep on the vial filthy beds and our beach towels to dry !!! We lay awake listening to girls screaming boys shouting being drunk and dragging of furniture!!! Finally went quiet around 4:30am but at 5:30 we were woken by wait ,,,,,,,the receptionist letting himself into our room , my husband shouted at him he said sorry I didn't think you'd be in ! The kids were petrified, We asked to speak to a manger to be told there isn't one !!!! It goes on and on , our locks were never fixed the whole week , no hot water (to which the staff said what do you want us to do about it ) we were offered 2 hand towels fir 8 of us half way through the wk ! this place is a disaster , the only decent member of staff is Antonio , he's the nicest man who is far to good for this hell hole. The people in the onsite snack bar are great too but we only used this on our last few hours as we were waiting to be picked up , Please if you have booked this place you need to seriously re think !
Complete disaster! No management on site and staff who can't be bothered to sort an issue. Out holiday started off quite uneventful and upon check in at the Cheerfulway Valmangude Jardim we were booked into room 312, the room looked clean (well so we thought. the A/C was most definitely not working, we made the staff aware and they said they would get straight on it. By Friday, after someone coming to have a look at it on the Thursday and Friday they made us aware that their own maintencance persons could not fix the issue and someone with more "knowledge and experience" (To quote in their own words) would be coming Saturday. I at this point asked to speak to a manager and was informed by the rather rude staff member who only seemed interested in chatting to men and smoking Outside in the front doorway whilst guests were walking in and out that the management do not come to this hotel they are based at a larger premises and infact had not stepped foot in the hotel in over a month. I asked her to ring them so I could speak to someone over the phone and she said to me they do not work after 5 or weekends so I would have to wait until Monday. I asked to change rooms and she said this was not possible as this hotel was full, I asked if it were possible to have a fan so I could at least keep my children's room cool she said they do not have any fans. I said to her that I could see 2 fans in the little office next to the reception area and she said that they were broken. I would like to point out that the temperature on this Friday was 36 degrees and on this Friday night the temperature in the room was 28 degrees this is by far absolutely not acceptable for adults let alone children. On the Saturday morning after a sleepless night by having to keep the balcony door open and getting eating by whatever exotic bug this rather awful hotel housed, the hotel confirmed that the A/C would now not be looked at until Monday and that as compensation the hotel would offer us a fan. When I went to the reception to speak to Antonio he went and got one of the fans from side office by the reception desk. I was absolutely disgusted I said to him that I was told they were broken yesterday and he said no they were not. This was just another added lie from the useless incompetent woman from the night before. On the Monday I went down to reception to ask to speak to management, the woman behind the desk Helena Vianc was truly helpful and tried for over half an hour to get a manager to speak to me they all refused. This basically sums up what organisation this is by the lack of empathy or willing to resolve an issue from the managements perspective. With temperatures in the high twenties every night all we had was a measly fan to fan 4 of us. The next event all I can say is I'm glad happened on our last night because I would of got a taxi to the manager myself if it had happened on another night. My 4 year old woke up on the Tuesday morning with horrendous bites all over her legs. Because of having to leave windows and the sliding door open. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anybody. Intact if you have booked ring and change it. This hotel is most definitely not a three star by any standards. The cleaning of the hotel is not even cleaning, I can only guess that they are only allowed one bucket of water to clean all the apartments? As the water was black by the time it got to our apartment, see pic.
