Although we just stayed one night, we loved staying here! The hosts are so friendly and helpful, we even didn't had to take TukTuks, because they drove us to show us some spots like the sea turtle sanctuary or a local tea shop. The room was very spacious and super clean and the breakfast was also very delicious. Also it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. We definitely highly recommend the location!

Its not only a place to stay like any other hotels. In Walauwa-Villa a whole family cares for your well-being. The apartment is furnished traditional in a very comfortable manner for all your needs on a high standard. You can sit on the veranda and view the beautiful garden, animals and coconut trees. In any problem during your journey you will get help and advice from the family including inside-informations of every kind. They will organize Tours fo you at reasonable prices, which I did for example to Kataragama and Anuradhapura inclusive a substantial guidance. The breakfast is good authentic food of many kinds, everyday a bit different, fresh sri lankan fruits included. The same is dinner, which you can order for the evening: Every day you will be surprised about fresh and local sri lankan curries, seafood and meat. I was very sad, to leave this place of happiness after three weeks and I hope to come back soon!!

I stayed at the Villa of this family run guest house for 2 nights / 4 days in late November. I enjoyed my stay very much and I gladly come back when I get a chance. Recommend to other travels who want to experience great Sri Lankan hospitality in green and very quiet surroundings. What makes this place stand out is the kindness of the host and the nearby picture perfect beach . If you want to party at night (I did not), search elsewhere. If you consider an onsite swimming pool, spa, AC and other luxury essential (I did not), search elsewhere. The retired Walauwa couple who owns and operates the place is very friendly, knowledgable; gives suggestions and warns of tourist scams and touts when asked. Great example of Sri Lankan hospitality. The nearly 100 year old colonial villa consists of 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room, bath, and kitchen. Furniture is old style. concrete floor. Everything is well maintained, functioning, and clean (but don't expect luxury interior). The Villa is surrounded by a lush tropical garden and is located within a quite and peaceful residential area 500m off the Galle main road towards the beach, no views. The beach is 300m, where there is also the nearest restaurant at White Villa resort. The Villa has no AC but well working fan and mosquito nets. Besides the Villa there are I think two apartments on the same property. The Ahungalla beach is some 2km long. There are a few smaller resorts and one 5-star resorts located along the beach. When I was there in late November the beach was nearly empty. There were waves but not too high for swimming. The host mentioned sea can be rough at this beach during monsoon season. The Ahungalla train station is approx 1km, but only a few local trains on the Colombo - Galle route stop there. More practical are the frequent busses that operate on the Galle road, use the Ahungalla town bus stop near the rail station. Bentola is 12km, <100LKR by bus. Galle can be reached within 1-1.5hours by bus. The family organised my transfer from/to the airport, which worked very well.

Fantastic location and a great place to stay. Helpful staff and a beautiful hotel set on a long sandy beach . The hotel was spotless and the food was fair. Good location for tourist attractions such as the river tours. We will be back!

the lady of the homestay was very helpful , she gave us good advice on travel prices so that we was not getting ripped off by tuk tuk drivers, she was very accommodating, everything you could ask for from a host, the rooms were spacious and the garden was lovely and relaxing, we sat and listened to the birds in the trees in the mornings and even watched the monkeys at night , i would highly recommend staying at the guesthouse , if i was to visit sri lanka again i wouldn't hesitate booking this place, ver good value for money.

The family who run this villa are so helpful and care for their customers.Ahungalla is a little resort where there are a couple of upmarket hotels and a few villas offering mid price rooms, Walawauwa is set in a jungly type environment but less than a minute from the huge beach and offers amazing value. We stayed in a large room with 2 double beds with a kitchenette area and a nice spacious bathroom, outside there is a large terrace. The owners will also offer advice on local things...especially the insistent hawkers!!

The staff was not honest and the breakfast poor and on the second day not enough and too much paid. When we stayed longer we made the deal that breakfast was included. but when we got the bill they want us to pay 1000 LKR a day for breakfast. They said we did not make a deal and the son even became aggressive and wanted to fight. After so many traveling around and nearly one month in Sri Lanka this was our worst experience Ever ! The woman also went in our room and turned off the electricity every time as soon as we went out. The diner she made us and was very poor and very dry to eat. Better go to the restaurant on the beach. Also the site gives you the wrong ideas of what this accommodation, it is not correct and shows too much things which are not theirs.

We stayed at Walauwa. Beauty and her hustand. They Are the sweetest couple and They Are very kind and helpful. They Can help you with almost everything. The bungalow you stay in is only 4 minutes from a The lovely Ahungalle Beach. The bungalow has A/C and is clean and there is a kitchen and a fridge. Wifi is good and fast (we watched Netflix during nighttime) Every morning Beauty made The best breakfast for us. Fresh fruits, juice, omelets and lovely Sri lankan specialities. The bungalows Are located next to Beauty and her husbands house. There is a really nice garden with Sri Lankan herbs, coconutpalms and cute monkeys. Very local. Would defently recommend this place- also to smal families (we travelled with Our 3 year old boy)

The best place to stay in Ahungalla.Close to the beautiful beach only 2 minutes walk.Beautiful garden for rest.It the best place.Very very amazing.Very good facilities and very good people. Please book this place.Highly recommended!

The hostess is very friendly and the hospitality we got is amazing. The location is very close to Ahangulla beach. It is a colonial style old home with good garden. We had home food everyday for breakfast and the food was delicious authentic srilankan food. We were a group of two and were doing a short (4 days) and budget trip to Srilanka. We stayed all the 4 days here and covered most of the places between Bentota to Galle in this duration. We had rented a bike from Negombo and hence traveling was not a problem. Home stay is always the best choice when you are on a shoe string budget. And this place is a steal for the price (its cheap :) ) P.S: This is a very good place to keep as base location if you plan to explore the scenic Colombo-Galle coastal highway and the places in between.
