This hotel is located in the desert location of liwa about two hours drive from abu Dhabi. Roads are excellent. It sits on top of a hill overlooking a great expanse of desert and is unlike many of the city hotels in abu Dhabi and Dubai because of the quietness of the location. Rooms were good. Food excellent. The only slight disappointment was the lack of heating in the pool. Staff very attentive and friendly.
The good: - Spacious rooms - Room ambiance and decorations (old style) - Huge balconies with large sofa - Refurbished/new furniture and toilets - Cheerful staff - Nice food (try their Pizzas) - Good breakfast buffet (specially the omelettes) - late checkout for both rooms was very easy to get The Bad: -Pool is not heated, which for this time of the year is really bad. it was extremely cold -Flies,FLIES and I Mean LOADS of FLIES, I guess due to the good weather and the fact that the place is surrounded by camel farms. still something needs to be done about that - One elevator, too small
It’s nice to stay in a quiet hotel. Some hotels are quiet because the rooms are well insulated. Some hotels are quiet because the guests are considerate. This hotel was quiet because I was the only guest. Ok there may have been another couple came and went during my three day stay but I never heard or saw anyone. THE GOOD NEWS. Its definitely quiet. It’s in a great location- marvellous rolling sand dunes all around and the Moreeb Dune area 25kms away along a scenic drive. The room is fine, huge balcony. THE BAD NEWS. It’s overpriced. By the time they’ve added on 3 different taxes I was paying well over a thousand dirhams for 3 days. Breakfast costs 70 dirhams. Ridiculous. It’s slightly too faded for the price... it’s not as good as it thinks it is, though it’s perfectly clean and comfortable. MY FOOD SOLUTION. In little Liwa town there’s a mini Spar run by a couple of friendly guys, I stocked up with breakfast stuff, cereals, milk, bread, cheese, crisps etc. Fifty metres from there, towards the gas station is a cafe style place which does all kinds of stuff at cheap prices. I recommend the Kraft with honey, a sort of pancake, 5 dirhams. There’s an Indian restaurant in the shops beyond the police station which does biriyani ( mutton, chicken, vegetable. ) I paid 15 dirhams for a bottle of water, two bowls of Dahl, a side salad and a huge main course.
After a long drive to- and from the Highest Sand Dune, the Moreeb Dune (hill of horrors), this was the perfect place for a stop and we got in for a treat. Placed on a Hill, offers great vista of the Desert and large selection of food and beverages. The Pool area is very nice, with the terrace a true oasis feeling. We only did a stop over, but the impression was very good, friendly and helpful staff, good food and apparently there are some Motor sport activities offered like Dune bashing etc.. Seemed a great place to stay to be away from the bubbling city's.
Shopping and skyscrapers ain't my thing..so this place was great. Quiet and relatively hidden. Food was good and happy hour in the bar was worth the effort of finding the bar. Later we sat outside on a terrace and ate - very pleasant. Visit the nearby dunes.
Restaurant is excellent. Food is excellent, staff very friendly, cleanliness excellent. Nice view for desert sunset. Prices are surprising for UAE. Very nice pool as well. Overall great experience and i will defenitely go again
If you want to escape from the city and experience some adventure at the same time relax this is where you should go. If you are traveling from Dubai it will take about 3 and a half hours to get there but it’s all worth it. The hotel staffs are friendly, helpful and will recommend places where you should go. They have a sight seeing tour including Moheeb Dune, one of the highest dune in the UAE, camel farm, date farm, etc. Since we stayed there on a weekday we just drove ourselves to Moheeb Dune. The hotel only has one restaurant and for us food is not bad. If you are ordering pasta you can share it for two actually if you don’t have problem with sharing. They have complete facilities, pool, gym, sauna, steam, spa centre, kid’s play ground, tennis court, bar, jacuzi and at the back of the hotel there is a passage to the desert, which is really awesome. The hotel seems old but rooms are big, clean and well maintained i should say. On our way back, we’ve seen some other attractions we were not able to visit, so if you are planning, it is better for you to stay there for 2 nights. P.S. the hotel offers other activities, you can check this on their website.
First of all the staff are extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. It’s the first ever hotel I’ve been to where they offer stuff to you before you even ask for them. From the simplest which is approaching us to offer towels when we were swimming to the difficult ones like setting up lights for us while we are doing the barbecue. We never asked, they themselves approached us and offered. Everything we need they anticipate it and they check on us like we are VIPs. Everyone is nice and polite. The rooms look beautiful - designed to make you feel the arabic ambiance. It has a very spacious balcony for family stuff. The pool was big and the outdoors had different amenities to cater our needs. There is also a view of the dunes which was amazing. The breakfast was good - there were a lot of choices. I could not think of anything negative to say because everything was just amazing. Even if it’s a 4-hour drive from Dubai, we would definitely come back here. One night is just not enough.
The hotel is a real good value for money with spacious rooms, huge swimming pool, nice garden, everything clean. You might want to pay attention though especially if you buy your stay on Groupon. Our reservation was cancelled at first and we were only informed the day before we were supposed to arrive, 10 days after we made the booking (!). Than at check in we were told that there were no activities eventhough it was included in the price we had paid. After we insisted they did organize some tour for us which was great afterall. Our driver was fenomenal.
Spent 3 nights here over the Eid Mubarak holiday. The hotel is on a hill with lovely views of the surrounding area and the famous Moreeb Dunes are about 35 minutes away, so making this hotel the ideal location to visit the dunes. The rooms are very spacious with large balconies which face outwards so none of them I believe look over the pool. As stated before in reviews, they do look a bit dated due to the 'brown ' furniture but they are clean and functional with the added touch of jellied sweets every day!! The breakfast consists of a buffet type meal which has the normal for a hotel such as cereal, fruit, yoghurts, bread and pastries and hot food such as eggs, porridge, bacon, sausages and bacon to Indian food. We ate our dinner at the hotel as well, although this wasn't included in our package and for a shared starter, main meal each and a soft drink plus wine and beer came to just 330 AED with including tax. The menu has a wide variation on so plenty to choose from for everyone. One of the evenings it was a BBQ buffet which consists of BBQ meats and then a choice of salads, cooked meals such as spaghetti bolognaise, curry, vegetables etc. The gardens are quite large which house 2 pools, one for children and then the main one. In the gardens there is also a lovely play park for children which has everything a child would want to go and also roaming around are some peacocks, geese and turkeys. There are a few aviaries as well and all we could see was a duck in one , so not sure what the purpose of these aviaries are for? All in all a very nice hotel which is ideal for seeing the dunes and desert. There is a fort in Liwa and also a date factory which is about 5 minutes drive in the car from the hotel. The staff at the hotel are all male and we found them all to be very helpful and courteous and nothing seems to much trouble for them to accommodate you.
