Not the worst experience of places I've stayed at before, but definitely ranks at the bottom. Bottom line is if you need a place to stay and no other rooms are available and you don't want to sleep in your car, then this will do in a pinch. Starting off with the pros, it was a very quiet BIG room, the air conditioning worked great, and the bed was surprisingly comfy. I mean, what's the point of staying somewhere if you can't sleep well? Some higher-end places fail in this area, particularly being nice and quiet. However, security is sketchy, particularly staying on the back side. I encountered no problems though, but definitely felt vulnerable. I was glad to have had a personal protection device. When I got in the room, I pushed the couch in front of the door which was not well secured (a really good couple of kicks and it could be breached). After that, I felt more secure and able to relax. The bathroom was filthy. The bathtub had NOT been cleaned..and was pretty obvious. Thankfully, the hot water is really hot so I let it the shower run for awhile and adjusted the nozzle direction to really rinse everything. I showered in my flip flops. The mirror was filthy too and just overall kinda nasty bathroom. It makes one wonder about everything else. Overall, it is better than sleeping in your car and like I said, have encountered worse. Just be sure to bring your shower flip flops and perhaps some bathtub cleaner.

From the time I arrived at checkout the staff was lost didn't have my reservation ..the whole front reception area was dirty ..I was finally given a key to my room only to find out our door had no lock on it I literally had to push the desk up Against the door to make sure I was secure . The sheets were filthy with stains and dirt the bed mattress was stained with blood . The walls had blood and mold . The bathroom sink and tub were filthy , had mold and rust I literally was afraid to touch anything. I tried asking for a refund so I could leave and the staff told me that they don't do refunds . To make matters worse someone broke into our car as there was no lighting outside ..it was something out of a horror movie . Never again don't ever stay here very disgusting place

Enjoyed our stay, but had to drive to find something to eat due to no dining facility at the hotel. The manager was very nice and informative.

Non-smoking room reeked. Old, run down, small, bed sagged. Bedding may have been clean, but was yellow with age and had holes. No hair dryer avail. Really small bath towels. Do not recommend unless you are desperate.

We stayed at the Royal Inn in Abilene for two nights, two nights too many. The only positive experience was that the young lady at the check in counter was very pleasant and helpful allowing us to enter our room one hour early. From there it when down hill all the way. The queen size bed that we requested ended up being a double bed with two small unforgettable flat pillows. The air conditioner was loud and within one foot from the bed. The room needed a good cleaning. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan and the shower walls were dirty. We had two shower towels and one hand and face towel for two people. The showerhead was caked in grim. The location of the room #155 at night had a lot of exterior noise, trucks, trains, and people talking all night. Our first night we did not get any sleep. The second night we purchased two additional pillows, but the loud noise outside and the poor mattress gave us little sleep. It actually caved in the middle and had no firmness to it. The restaurant lounge that they advertise was not open. This was the worse Inn that we stayed at. [...]

this was the dirtiest hotel I have ever been to. I took pictures to send to you but can not find my camera right now.

We did not like this hotel at all. The check in area was very nice, but once you get to the room that is a whole other story. It reminded me of a holtel out of a horror movie. I did not feel as those if my spouse was to leave I could stay there by myself. I was very glad that we had decided to take our own towels, the towels provided were very questionable. Needless to say we will not be using this service again.
