From the payable but large carpark the hotel doesn't show it's cosiness at all. Once inside however there is this cool quality atmosphere in tasteful decoration and lighting.Very friendly reception staff. It was a nice summerevening so I drank a Bitburg beer next to the pool - I felt on holiday- although on a business trip. Very nice room - modern refurbished- minibar- free wifi- walkin shower - high quality bed and that all for a reasonable price. Extensive Breakfast buffet at 18€.
The hotel was comfortable. The newly modernised rooms were bright and cheerful. The staff helpful and informative. The hotel is well placed for walking to the town centre, thermal baths and the football stadium. It has plenty pf car parking.
This would have been a good hotel. Unfortunately they now take large youth groups (very large, taking up most of a floor, and partying noisily and beerily in and between rooms until 2am, while I was there). Bad luck that I was on that floor perhaps, but I think they could be heard throughout the hotel, which is long and low and only has 3 floors of rooms. While I understand the need for late-teenagers to enjoy themselves - this appeared to be a school-trip that was badly supervised - getting only 4 hours sleep when one has to drive long distances the next day is dangerous. If it is now Mercure policy to take such groups, adults and/or those who need to drive the next day would do best to avoid them.
Misleading ad. We booked for paying at the hotel, including the possibility of canceling. However, the payment was charged immediately to my credit card and after my claim, they would consider a refund. Up to today the refund never took place. I'm very sorry this happened, since for many years already we are staying at IBIS hotels all over Europe with great satisfaction.
I have stayed here before and would always return. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I am not sure about the room make overs perhaps more light in the rooms. The breakfast is an outstanding delight
Preparation was quite good, the attention in all the services was at high level. Nothing bad to mention. I encourage to maintain the same level, refurbishing of the rooms is also at a good level. Congratulations
Stayed here on business trip as the company I visited are located nearby. It is a little off the beaten track, albeit only a few moments walk from Julichestrasse, one of the city's main arterial roads. The city centre is a "brisk" 15 minutes walk away. Room very clean and tidy, fairly well sized, nice soft bed. They have an outdoor swimming pool too. Breakfast was sufficient and staff very good. Overall a good budget hotel.
I stayed in this Mercure because it was very close to where I needed to be. And, it's quite well located close to the highway as well. The hotel has it's own parking lot (upon arrival I got a parking ticket I could use during my stay). So all pretty good from that point of view. However, where most Mercure's are excellent hotels, this whole hotel is old and ... well, a bit sad. Unfortunately that was true for the restaurant (it's really not so much a restaurant as a bar with some bar food), for the breakfast room and lobby and for the rooms. Everything was clean, but everything also breathed "I'm old". Which is not quite usual for Mercure hotels. Now, granted, this hotel is undergoing a renovation (which is supposed to be over soon, so I'm surprised not more could be seen to be honest). And I can only hope that my room hadn't been renovated yet. Now, this "old" is a matter of taste of course. But the noise level (the lack of sound insulation) is not. And neither is the fact that the key-card system gives out keys that stop working if you put them too close to something else. Yes, I know that can happen with keys, but frankly it's five years ago I've had that problem the last time. I'm assuming most other hotels have moved on to a better system that isn't so sensitive... Would I stay here again? I might if I need to be in the same place as the location was very convenient and probably more convenient for a business trip than other hotels closer to the city center. But that's also the only reason I would consider that.
poor room and restaurant quality part of the hotel under renovation, so noice from the workers starting at 7AM breakfast was moderate but dinner meal quality poor staff quality moderate location is good
Stayed for one night on our way home to UK from Germany. I would stay again. The room we were in was exceptional value for money and although as yet not refurbished, was a very good clean room. My only criticism is that the pillows were designed for Bilbo Baggins and not a 6'4" man. They were tiny!! There was a bit of noise intrusion on Saturday afternoon from the building works going on beyond our room. The reception staff were brilliant and their English is exemplary. It is a 15 Euro taxi fare into central Aachen and the reception were happy to organise a cab for us.
