The government buildings are some of the country s best examples of Georgian, neoclassic and modern architecture. At the core of the district are the National Mall and the Smithsonian. Here, between the Jefferson Memorial and the Capital sit some of the world s great public art displays. The Smithsonian museums offer a variety of exhibits and are free to the public. Neighborhoods like Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan and U Street are popular destinations for the District s young upscale crowd.
