Great stay!

We loved staying here! It had everything we needed and was convenient to all the places we wanted to visit on the Big Island but also very private and out of the mainstream. Would love to stay again!

Very comfortable

We enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable and roomy for 4 adults. Location was perfect especially since Kilauea erupted the day we got there. Being a few minutes from Volcano National Park was great!

Family Vacation

We had a wonderful time staying at Halehikiola. We had plenty of room for everyone to have space to relax after long days exploring. The house was well stocked and in a perfect location for easy access to the park.

Forest house

Our family liked waking up surrounded by trees and ferns. The area is very quiet and there was plenty of space.

Great home and location

This home was in a great location for visiting Volcano's National Park (Literally 12 min away) The house was extremely comfortable, with a huge tv and many special touches.

Great Family Rental

Hands down, the best equipped kitchen of all the VRBOs I’ve stayed at. My family is big on cooking and this was huge for us. It was very comfortable for the big group and close to everything we wanted to see.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 10 had an amazing time in Volcano. The house was very roomy for us to gather together or to find a quiet spot to enjoy. The location was great to access the volcano as well as check out the nearby black sand beach with turtles.

Excellent Big Island vibe!

My husband and I and our grown daughters and boys in tow visited Big Island Volcano after Oahu and Kauai for 4 nights in May! We did it all, hiked the volcano, day in Kona, coffee and chocolate tours, black sand beach! This house was awesome! Greenery all around, frog and insect sounds and rooster calls all day and night, magical! Great family table, love the bugs

Cozy, comfortable, relaxing.

Our group used this property for a strategic planning retreat. The house was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The home is thoughtfully kept, well stocked, and an overall beautiful space. I would highly recommend Halehikiola. Mahalo for a great stay.

Island Getaway

The house was beautiful, clean and had everything you could need. Communication was easy and Jolanta was quick to respond to any questions we had. We live on island and look forward to coming back soon. Perfect getaway

This was the most unique and beautiful property. We loved its vibe and being able to pick some flowers from the yard! The only thing I would comment on is that there are many local roosters- nothing they have any control over. Some would love this feature but it does make it tricky to sleep on the morning!

Excellent home

We booked this place because it looked like a “Hawaiian home”. It far exceeded our expectations! It was bigger than we thought, cleaner than anticipated, and very comfortable. The attention to detail was superb. We had everything we needed and more, and it truly felt like a home away from home. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking to stay on the east side!

A beautiful place and a nice change of pace

My sister and I brought our families on a combined family Christmas vacation to the big island. We spent the first week in Kona, and the 2nd week here in Volcano. After the first week of beaches and lots of people, our stay in Volcano was perfect. The house is beautiful, with plenty of room to accommodate our party of 9. The grounds were gorgeous, and the neighborhood is very quiet. Any small issues we had were quickly addressed by the property manager. We were fortunate enough to be here when the volcano erupted as well! A wonderful property, I highly recommend it.

Wonderful & Peaceful Home

This place was awesome! Very well put together and with everything you need. The location is quiet and private and only 5mn from the Volcano National Park. It made it so much easier to be able to come home for lunch and then head out again. I would stay there anytime while visiting the park! The house is clean, comfortable and easy to get to. The huge living room was great for hanging out with everyone, and we enjoyed the serene deck, and the extra sitting nook inside. Definitely rent it!

Beautiful location!

This house was tucked away in what felt like our private forest. We went to sleep with the frogs and woke up to the roosters. Enjoyed reading on the porch. Perfect family room for movie watching. Did some great hikes in volcano national park which was 12min drive away. We thought we might be able to walk to where some other family members were staying- but this is not really a walkable area- just want others to know. For future renters.. salt and pepper available, coffee and fixings too, no measuring spoons, no oil/oil spray otherwise well stocked kitchen. We ate at lava rock cafe after a long day of hiking (and after realizing the brewing company was “ coming soon” )- burgers were great. Overall great rental.

Wonderful "treehouse"-like place!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I loved staying at this house. She said it felt like a cozy "treehouse." Of course, it is not a treehouse, but it has a unique layout with loft bedroom overlooking the entrance and dining area. We really liked relaxing in the great room, which has vast seating in the comfortable sectional couches and large TV. Excellent location in a rural setting. Ten minutes from Volcano NP. Not too far from Hilo, maybe half-hour away. We used this home as a base to see Volcano NP, Hawaii Botanical Gardens, Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Laupahoehoe. We were on the go so much that we didn't get to enjoy the outside spaces, but they were inviting.Host was great to work with. We had everything we needed and felt welcomed.Great place to stay.

Beautiful stay, lovely surroundings

This is a lovely 2 bedroom with nice privacy away from the street and gorgeous plants all around. The back deck and hot tub were much appreciated and my kids absolutely loved the tv room with a ginormous tv and wrap around couch. We only stayed here for one night, would have loved to stay more. It’s very close to volcano nat’l park, allowing us to go into the park at night to see the lava. The only issue was that Volcano is chilly (hard to believe in Hawaii, but it’s true) and when we came home after our long day in the park hoping for a nice warm shower, we found that there was no hot water! Freezing cold shower. Bummer. These things happen, and the property manager was responsive and tried to make it right. I think it’s a lovely place but I can’t give it 5 stars bc of that issue and bc I found it pricey for what is actually only 2 bedrooms (lots of extra twins/couches if you have kids though).

Luxe Gem close to park

Our family of 4 stayed for a week to explore Volcanoes National Park. This house was a true gem! The art and furnishings were luxe. Lots of little touches throughout to make us comfortable and entertained. Comfortable beds, a huge entertainment room, really cool art throughout, and even a fun fish hook game in our favorite spot - the covered porch. It was fun to have the chickens and rooster greet us at the end of the day when we returned from our hikes. There was a nice, big dining table to lay out our plans for the week, a washer & dryer including soap and dryer sheets also stocked with drawers of awesome dvds though we were admittedly too exhausted to actually pop any in at the end of the day, a stash of books too which is always appreciated! Great location for getting to the park as well!

Rainforest Hideaway!

This is a very cool house tucked into a neighborhood in Volcano, HI. I was not prepared for how chilly it was there in summer but it was a welcome change! The decor in the house is funky and the landscaping around the home is incredible. It was a great place to relax when we weren't exploring trails in the nearby Volcanoes National Park (which we also highly recommend). The living area is spacious and the hot tub is very nice. I will state a couple of caveats - there are little frogs in the rainforest that come out and "sing" at night. I thought they were delightful and they didn't interrupt anyone's sleep. However our sleep was disturbed by some nearby roosters early in the morning. Next time, I'll bring some ear plugs but I'd definitely stay here again!

Rainforest Heaven

The pictures do not do this place justice. Inside was very well maintained and had tons of decor which add to its uniqueness. The area is very quite and private. We loved sleeping with the widows open and have the cool breeze blow in, hear the rain and the coquis at night. The huge couch was so comfy while we watched movies at night on the massive tv. We were able to cook every morning and had a BBQ one night on the deck. Sitting on the back porch while being surrounded with beautiful trees and flowers was amazing. This is a definite must book!
