Beautifully built, intriguing and unique abodes, tucked away in the magical forests of Volcano. Danny & Shannon were fantastic hosts, very welcoming, accommodating, very helpful with vital local knowledge and tips and they went above and beyond to make our Hawaiian trip fantastic. All hand-crafted, these forest homes will not disappoint any visitor- full of charm, character and uniquely Volcano-themed. We highly recommend staying here on your trip to the Big Island.
Stayed just one night. Very close to Volcano National Park and nearby Volcano Village restaurants...nice and cozy, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and very nice breakfast in our room...lovely bread, butter, fresh fruit, cereal, coffee and creamer.
We visited for 7 days. As we drove into this hidden oasis, I felt as though I was tucked up under God's wing. The beautiful exotic plants and flowers that lined the driveway and all around were gorgeous. Entering this quaint 2 bed 1 bath efficiency room prepared and awaiting our arrival, soft Christian worship music was playing, everything was so inviting & restful. Even though I had physical limitations the Fisher's bent over backwards to make sure I was comfortable. And we were. They were so accommodating, helpful and attentive. This is a place to be experienced. You will enjoy it.
We stayed here at the end of March in order to be next to Volcanos National Park and get more time in the park. This is a wonderful lodge to stay at with friendly owners. It's just a couple minutes from the park. Our kids loved staying here, enjoyed petting the bunny, thought the treehouse was cool, and we all thoroughly enjoyed touring the lava tube on the property. The breakfast they provided was very yummy and the beds are super comfy. We highly recommend this lodge to anyone coming to Hawaii!
We were looking for somewhere different in Volcano, and this was it. Perhaps not the height of luxury, but clean and comfortable, with a great welcome and good in-room breakfast. The Lodge is close to Volcano village, where there are cafes, stores, gas stations and a launderette.
We were staying in Kailua Kona for our vacation and booked one night here to avoid having to drive there and back in the same day, while also maximizing our time at VNP. We booked online through their website. It only asked how many adults would be in the room, not children, so we assumed our 5 year old son would be free. This was not the case and we were accessed an additional $15 upon arrival. We stayed in room 2 and found it very comfortable. Noticing we had a small child, they provided extra breakfast items that were more kid friendly. We all enjoyed staying in this rainforest type location, and it was very convenient to the park, and other things (restaurants, winery) in the area.
We headed over to Volcano and found the lodge fairly easily. The entrance is a little tight due to an over hanging palm but adds to the retreat in the rain forest. The upstairs apartment we had was very spacious. The decor is somewhat alternative but interesting. Breakfast was included too. The apartment was beautifully quiet in the forest. I would definitely recommend a stay but remember this is not and is not supposed to be 5 star. It is a rainforest stay on an active volcano.
Roomy, comfortable, clean, quiet, beautiful all describe this unique spot just a couple of minutes from the visitors center. We loved the personal artistic touch of the construction and decor. The rooms are neat and well maintained. Convenient breakfast, sweet bread, yogurt, cereal, drinks all stocked in the room for an early departure.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. The Room was very spacious and clean it had everything , the beds were great. We really enjoyed of the hot tub and our visit to the lava caves was really exciting. Hosts are very hospitable and seem to really enjoy what they do. I highly suggest the couples suite. We didnt stay in it because we traveled with kids, but it looks really amazing. Also really great location.
I looked online and read the reviews and ended up booking two nights at the Aloha Crater Lodge since we decided as a family to explore the volcanoes of the Big Island before we relaxed on a beach. The confirmation from the hotel read that they would be there with keys to our room from 4-6pm. This sounds reasonable except for the fact that our flight, which I informed them of, was landing at 4:10pm and it takes at least 2 to 2 1/2 hours to drive there. (Think: get luggage, rent car, then drive-no way would we be there by 6). Aloha is apparently owned by a family and no one wants to take responsibility for checking people in. There is No lobby, No front desk, and No keys if you arrive late. (“Reception” area picture attached: including Beware of Dog sign. With rain, we arrived close to 9pm and I had called the owner who informed me that our room was open. We had two bedrooms that looked like they were modeled after fraternity house bedrooms, complete with missing light bulbs, seemingly dirty sheets, and a closet. We were exhausted, so slept in them, but felt more like we were camping. I could not believe we were paying for this! Breakfast was in the room, meaning in the cabinets, in the refrigerator, get it yourself. Flavored sodas, instant coffee, cereal in mason jars and mini banana cakes referred to as banana bread, but appeared to have been made in an Easy Bake oven. Horrible place, don’t book it-you’ll regret it.
