Bottom floor room with fireplace with ocean view. Clean room. Friendly staff. Room is a bit pricey for an older hotel...but it appears it's the going rate for CA coastal hotel properties.

We loved the first floor room facing the water and the grounds were beautiful. We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed. They need to do a little updating in the rooms. Towel bars for hand towels wood be a great addition

The room we stayed in was nice, Ocean View KIng w/patio and fireplace(we were located on the first floor) Walking into the room it smelled & appeared clean. Overall was clean except for the desk table, that had a wet residue spot from like a Large Fountain Drink and the heavy chair next to it had crumbs on it.(we cleaned it ourselves, didnt bother to tell the front desk, no biggie really). I would say was a simple oversight, the rest was clean. There is no microwave in unit, they have a microwave in the lobby, as well as free Coffee, and hot water. There is no Breakfast. The attached Spyglass Restaurant Is permanently closed. Dolphin Bay next door has a restaurant it is about 2 min walk. Inside the room, I did like that there were enough plugs for charging. Also the beds and pillows super comfy! There is minifridge. The outdoor patio is nice to sit and watch the sunset. Next time we will get the room upstairs, Just to watch the sunset from a higher spot and avoid dealing with loud upstairs noises. The outdoor gas firepits were a plus as well, about 20 steps from patio slider. They shut off at 10pm. Beach access is about a 5 minute walk north. You will follow the path & cross the lawns of other nearby hotels to get there. (Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa & The Cliffs Hotel & Spa).There is a stairway (not handicap accessible) down to sandy beach to hangout and play and also some coral areas for playing with Marine life (hermit crabs,crabs, sea urchines/ anemones, etc). Worth the $ pd

Great memories, exceptional staff, cozy room.

We booked this stay at Spyglass just about a month before our trip. We had stayed at sandcastle the previous year and loved the beach access, but chose spyglass for the lower nightly rate. We loved the firepits (run until 10 pm), warm pool and steamy hot tub. The staff was very service oriented. You need extra towels???…. They were there in under 5 minutes. Need blankets, same thing. Cute little coffee tea bar and chess in the lobby. Great shower and bath products. Beach access is about 8 minute walk and have to take a small bridge and stairs to get down to the rocky tide pool area. Spotted lots of crabs and mussels- a highlight for the kids. Downside was the small rooms, (we had two adults and two young kids), no restaurant. But we were very pleased overall and felt the staff was exceptional and really went above and beyond to get us what we needed quickly. We would stay here again.
