This is a modern facility in San Jose, right near the beautiful park. The staff was very helpful and in particular, Luis, one of the Bell Hops,was our culinary advisor. Pointing out.Social as a nearby walkable restaurant serving good Costa Rican food. The only downside I saw was that in the 21st-century, not having easy access to charging ports near the bedside, a so-called modern hotel like this, fell short.

The tricky lady at the front desk tried to charge us twice for the breakfast. Parking place is a nightmare, always closed, dark, alone and you must go out of your car to ask (almost beg) for somebody to walk and open the gate. They offer amenities like a hair dryer. Lie. You must call and wait a long time for it. It was a good expensive hotel. Now its only expensive.

Great location in front of the park and easy walking to museums and shopping. Staff everywhere were wonderful and quick and responsive, except in the bar in the evening. The bar only had one server, who was very social, so we had to chase them for service and it was slow. Rooms are being renovated, but the most important areas were addressed - we had a lovely room overlooking the city with big windows. Comfy clean bed, hot water (which is a premium in Costa Rica as Tico's don't appreciate our northerners habit of taking hot showers). A relaxing, great stay overall.

Rooms are comfortable and generally clean, food and drinks are good, but the property is VERY old and outdated. Staff is very inconsistent, ranging from welcoming to just out right rude! Bar Palma has a wonderful and friendly bartender, but the breakfast receptionist (can't call her a host:/), at the resteraunt seemed irritated each morning of our stay, she was rude, rolled her eyes at us and made us feel very uncomfortable to eat breakfast during our stay of 5 days!!
