Hotel Ripa was a great place to stay with an especially helpful staff always on duty, and in a relatively good location for restaurants. Perhaps less so for general shopping. Great breakfast choices, very fresh, continually replaced selections of eggs & pancetta, breads, yogurt, and fruit. Go early to avoid the breakfast crowds, at least if you're there on a weekend or heavy tourist season.
