Excellent rental

Excellent location in Rapid City where there is plenty of shopping and things to do. Rental was located within reasonable driving distance of many attractions including mount rushmore, the Badlands, Jewel cave, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse. Also close to the excellent reptile gardens which we took advantage of on a rainy day. David was an excellent host who gave us many suggestions of things to do and strategies on how to do them best and most efficiently. We even got to do a little stargazing on a clear night less than 20 minutes from the rental. I would definitely recommend this rental to others.

Comfortable, roomy, had lots of extras in the kitchen area, beds were also comfortable, parking was easy, owner was awesome to work with before & during, would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Great place to stay in South Dakota

This little 3 bedroom condo was perfect for our short trip to the Black Hills. It was close to everything we anted to see in South Dakota. The owners were very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. If we ever came back, we would definitely say here again!

Worked Perfectly for Our Family!

The owner reached out from the moment we booked the home, until we left, to be sure any questions were answered. The home was clean and in a very quiet part of town in an culd-de-sac. The neighborhood felt very safe to take morning or evening walks. The home is a four-plex but very sound, so don’t worry about hearing the neighbors. It was close to a gas station and not far from two grocery stores which is very convenient. Overall an amazing host and a great home! Will be back!

No surprises

Idlewild Pines was exactly as advertised. No surprises. David, the property owner was a dream to work with. Everything was clean and cozy. We were meeting up with family that we haven't seen in years, and we all had an amazing time ❤️. I highly recommend Idlewild Pines to anyone wanting a relaxing stay.

Great stay!

We found the location of this property to be great for all the locations we wanted to visit—Mt. Rushmore, Badlands, Custer, Devil’s Tower, Hill City. deadwood’s and more! Had we known how beautiful the local lake/park was we would have allowed time to enjoy it as well! The townhome had comfy beds, adequate space, local sites highlighted in the decor/art. The beds were comfy, nice to have a washer and dryer, and it was appreciated to have soaps, shampoo, etc provided.

Perfect location and super quiet

This townhouse was perfect for us and we would definitely stay again. Everything was very clean and well equipped. We loved that two of the bedrooms have king size beds and the beds were very comfortable. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout and the location was super quiet. The owners were very responsive and helpful when we had a question.

Perfect location

I think most importantly is Dave’s complete detail of places to see in and around Rapid City. The condo was comfortable, and clean. I brought my own grill and specialty food from home. The outdoor space was idea to setup, Dave mentioned he didn’t have a grill set up and I agree it’s not needed. Our daughter missed Dad’s Mexican food (pollo, carne, chorizo, beans etc. thanks Dave and VRBO

Loved it!

Last rental on a weeklong road trip. It was great! Comfortable and clean. Room for all 6 of us. The owners gave us a great list of places to check out. We didn’t have time for everything we wanted to do so and will definitely come back.

Rapid City Retreat

From the start we felt comfortable with our choice to stay at Idlewild. David was communicative and accommodating. We only had time in our travel plans to stay the one night but would have definitely stayed longer. The house was clean and just as described. You could tell it was newly renovated. David provided us with recommendations for dinner and we stopped at Murphys Pub and Grill for dinner before we checked in because we were running late. Great choice. Food, drinks and atmosphere was spot on. Food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and service was quick and friendly. Idlewild is in a nice neighborhood; even spotted a nice buck mule deer with a few does on our way out in the morning. Thank you for providing a great guest experience.

The best experience all the way

I have rented the facilities through VRBO many many times in the past. I would rate this one as one of the top one to remember in a positive manner. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. The owner was very friendly and available. The house was spic n span when we entered. Kitchen was well equipped for every necessity you may need. If I ever visit this neck of the woods, I will certainly try to rent this one again. Five Stars all the way!

Clean centrally located property with fabulous hosts

The property is centrally located for seeing all the sites! David and Leslie provide an extensive online guidebook upon booking to help guests make the most out of their stay in Rapid City. Upon arrival we were welcomed with with gift basket with snacks and bottled water. We appreciated this and the other little extras provided by the gracious hosts. The 3-story townhouse was clean, the towels were fluffy, and the beds were super comfortable. We cooked several meals in the well stocked kitchen that even included spices. I took off one star since minor repairs are needed (Need handrail for stairs leading to the basement. Basement bath door sticks. Face plate for a couple electric outlets do not fully cover the wall opening. Second floor bath toilet seat, shower head, and shower handle were loose.) The property has central air conditioning (not window air conditioners as listed in the property description). During our summertime visit the main floor was comfortable, the two second floor bedrooms were too warm, and the basement bedroom was too cool. The basement registers/vents were stuck open so closing them was not an option.

Best Host Ever

While the home offered all we needed, including a great location to all we had planned, what made this one of our best vacations was the hosts! David reached out to us immediately after booking and helped us consider areas to explore we had not considered. He gave us continual access to answering questions via text so that we could maximize every minute. Leslie even came to the house while she was in town to replace batteries in thermostat. It was a pleasure getting to meet her in person as she also shared additional ideas. We followed the suggestions of both David and Leslie and are grateful to have had them. They know the area well and want to ensure everyone grows to love it like they do! You will not be disappointed! :)

The house was clean, comfortable beds and the extra touches were nice. Variety of coffee, snacks, waters, etc The air conditioning was set too warm when we arrived late at night and took some time to cool down, especially upstairs, but the owner was super responsive. It is central air, not window units. The travel guide he provided was helpful and informative.
