Swissôtel Al Maqam Makkah
1/5 Terrible
"This was one of the most unsafe and distressing hotel stays I’ve experienced, and I would strongly caution anyone considering booking here. I was injured inside the room after stepping on extremely sharp glass left on the floor, which resulted in a deep cut to my foot. That alone should never happen in a properly maintained hotel. It didn’t end there, the hygiene was equally concerning, with brown stains hidden beneath the pillow. When we requested basic items like towels and a blanket, the staff who came made us feel pressured for a tip, which felt uncomfortable and completely inappropriate given the circumstances.
What made this stay far worse was the complete lack of communication and care from the hotel. The person I traveled with and booked this stay alongside was detained by police for nearly two hours while trying to go to the masjid, due to restrictions related to Hijrah. At no point were we informed of any restrictions or advised on how to navigate them safely. No warning, no guidance, no support. We were left to deal with a serious situation entirely on our own. This was not just poor service, it felt negligent. I would not recommend staying here under any circumstances."
