The wrap around porch offers views of the river and the surrounding mountains. River access to a great swimming spot down the road and a large meadow for guests below the house. Follow us on IG @RiverView_AveOfTheGiants. We kindly invite our guests to read the entire listing description before booking. This is very important to set the right expectations

As this house is on the hilltop, there are a set of stairs to access the main level of the house. Additionally, the house has a set of stairs to access the second floor bedrooms and bath which contains a full bathtub. Behind the sliding barn door, the master bedroom has a private bath with a shower. The fully equipped kitchen is set off the living room and has an island that is great for meal prep while visiting with guests. High quality furnishings and linens, and we keep to traditional interior styling to best blend with our mountain retreat. The house is approximately 1,500 square feet of living space plus a large garage and game area on the ground level.
The sauna in the backyard is available for guests to use and directions for operation are located in the welcome guide inside the house. The washer and dryer are located on the ground level in the garage, along with a pool table The house is set apart from the other two vacation homes on the property and surrounded by trees, providing privacy. Guests have access to the entire house, the deck and backyard. Additionally there is a large meadow below the house (which has a pond/ fire pit/picnic area), and is shared with guests from the other 2 houses on the 5 acre estate.
I am always available by phone or through your booking platform should any issues arise, and usually within a 10-15 minute drive away for any issues that may need resolution in person (i.e. internet reset or power outage, etc.).
I do all the housekeeping and maintenance, so I very much appreciate that guests leave the house tidy at checkout.
One mile north of our cottage along the Avenue of the Giants is the town of Miranda, where you will find all you need to stock up for your stay. There are gas pumps at the local market, a post office, the Avenue Cafe (serves lunch & dinner), the Redwood Palace (serves dinner) and Sips Coffee kiosk
Being situated on the Avenue of The Giants, there is easy access to HWY 101, but you may also hear some noise from the highway.
Humboldt County is a rural, forested area and you may have limited cellular/data services and GPS/Navigation Will not be accurate. Please print and follow my directions.
The DRIVEWAY leading up to the house is GRAVEL and somewhat STEEP in areas. Use caution and drive slowly up and down the hill. All types of vehicles with good tires can make it up the drive, some more easily than others.
If you are pulling a trailer, feel free to park and unhitch in the meadow below, as parking and turning around is tight once you get to the top of the hill and reach the house.
The best time to enjoy river activities is (approximately) April until August. In drought years the water will be very low.
Please note that we have three listings on this 5 acre property, and you may run into other guests in the shared meadow below the house if Caraway Cottage or Pepperwood Place are booked. Have a larger party? Consider booking the entire estate for your vacation! Check out Avenue of the Giants Caraway Cottage. Listing number 23432076 and Pepperwood Place Guests booking on certain platforms will be asked to sign a rental agreement and payment will be processed through a hosting company called Hostaway. Please no shoes in the house and no food or drinks in the upstairs bedrooms. Please leave the house in the condition that you found it in; tidy up and do the dishes. We will take care of the laundry. Quiet hours at the fire pit/picnic area begin at 10pm. Please be respectful of the neighbors.

This house was a fantastic home base for us. Comfortable beds, clean, well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Showers had excellent water pressure and host thought of everything one may need. The view is amazing, quiet location at the top of a hill. Would definitely recommend.

Great property up in the trees with a fantastic view. Had a small hiccup in the WiFi and Marissa jumped in and saved the day. Very quick response. Beds were sooooo comfortable and ** bonus** there’s an air conditioning unit in each room. Kept us all at the perfect temp. Do wish the master had a king instead of a queen, there is plenty of room for it.Didn’t use the sauna but it looked really cute and rustic. Outside furniture could use some thicker cushions but I’m just getting picky. The place was perfect for my husband and I and our favorite auntie!

The house was lovely, comfortable and well stocked. There is road noise, but that just means you can hop on the freeway to some amazing hikes and be there in 15 minutes. We especially enjoyed Drury-Chaney trail. My teens loved the swimming hole right down the hill where they jumped off rocks and swung on a rope swing.

January in Northern California
We had a nice stay at this Vrbo. Great place to get right on the Avenue of the Giants, which is a beautiful drive. The house had what we needed. There is a small grocery store nearby which can give you all the basics. Beds were comfortable and I appreciated there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. On the down side, the road (driveway?) next to the property looks like the local dump. Lots of abandoned cars and junk. The property is a great place for kids to explore nature. But it’s on a hilltop so you need to be able to manage hills if you want to join them! We didn’t have the greatest weather so we couldn’t use the fire pit like we would have liked to.

Redwood dreams
River View Home is a great base for exploring the Avenue of the Giants. It's got a well-stocked kitchen and a wonderful spacious bedroom on the main floor. It's by far the most private of the three houses on the property, and Marisa was a pleasure to work with. Just don't wait until you get to Miranda to buy your groceries. And don't be put off by the small number of reviews here -- there are hundreds of glowing reviews elsewhere on the interwebs.

River view
What a beautiful house and spectacular view of the river from the dining room and master. The kitchen was well stocked and we even had fresh eggs to enjoy. The beds were comfortable and the living area was cozy. I would stay again, the location was right on the Avenue of the Giants.
