Stayed because of proximity to the Grand Casino event center. Didn't realize that the building is a repurposed nunnery! Lots of character. Sweet little bar on site. Beautiful stained glass. Our room was on street level, so noisy. Bring earplugs! It was a bit musty, as well, but clean and comfortable. Modern bathroom with walkin shower. I would stay again!

My only complaint was how noisy it was outside. You are right by the light rail and it kept me up all night. I barely got any sleep.

Room was spare but comfortable, clean and very roomy; appropriate since it was a converted convent. Breakfast was good. The building is very nice and has kept most of the original features of the convent, which was a welcome change from the typical hotel experience. Close walking distance to restaurants, churches, and other features of downtown St. Paul.

Check in and out was very easy. The hotel and room were very clean. The hotel itself is gorgeous and well decorated. Breakfast had a lot of choices (eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, muffins, etc) and was cooked well. The gym is small with a few necessary pieces of equipment. Our room could have used a small table with a couple of chairs (there was only a desk and 1 chair). The sliding door on the bathroom seemed unnecessary and it doesn't shut out steam and other undesirable things. The bar was beautiful and the bartender, Alan, was cheerful and pleasant. He had a lot of tips of where to go and what to see. Oh, and he makes an excellent gin and tonic! But, beware, I'm not a big believer but I thought I saw someone walk into the bar and when I followed in there was no one there. I've heard it's haunted!

It's a hotel with a history, which always feels special. The decor is classic with a modern twist. Our first room smelled a little musty, but Todd at the front desk was very hospitable, understanding and accommodating. He quickly found us another room with a lovely view of the capitol. The lobby bar was a welcome respite after a long day's ride, and the bartender was charming and knowledgeable with local recs. Breakfast included was a nice touch too (and non-dairy milks in the case!). Would recommend choosing a higher level room if you can. Def recommend to anyone staying in the area!

The Celeste in St. Paul was great! Tucked into a beautifully restored old convent. You can still feel its history, from artwork by the nuns and stained-glass windows, to the original hardwood floors. My room with a Juliette balcony and a fireplace was fantastic! The only drawback was the breakfast. Advertised as a hot breakfast including eggs, potatoes, and breakfast meats. Sadly it only included cereal, fruit, toast, and frozen breakfast sandwiches and a microwave. Would definitely stay here again, but will most likely not plan on having breakfast at the hotel.

This hotel is very pretty and has a great breakfast. The employees are friendly and I believe if we hadn’t stayed on the ground level our stay would have been amazing. But they have a moisture issue in the ground level rooms. It was hard to breathe in there and our sleep was disturbed by the smell of dampness in the air. If you’re going to stay here do not stay on the ground level; people can also see Right into your room from the sidewalk.

Great idea, terrible follow through

Hotel has a lot of character I enjoyed all the historic touches and the beautiful upgrades. However the front desk was clueless and originally gave me a room that someone else was already in. The bar closes at 9. The charcuterie board was sausage, Swiss cheese, crackers and olives not worth the $24! Finally good luck with parking!

Immediately after parking an individual was having an altercation with police outside parking ramp. There were what appeared to be transients outside the main entrance. The room had a musty undertone, covered up by wallflower. The floor was rotten next to patio door. The pigeon fecal matter was everywhere. There was hair on bathroom floor and no shower gel in dispenser. Fire station 8 was busy and the sirens went off hourly. The pictures are beautiful, however not a real representation of the facilities. The potential is definitely there, but the maintenance is lacking. We definitely wil seek other options in the future.

The hotel, a converted property that once served as a rectory for the church across the street, exudes a certain charm. However, the overall feel is that of a dormitory. That said, the beds were very comfortable. The staff is very casual, and the surrounding area is not particularly appealing. It appears to be in a rougher part of town.

Beware of garden rooms

Reserved a double room, and while it was listed as a "garden" room, the photos were incredibly misleading. Window size and daylight had been altered significantly. "Garden" was a stretch: basement/prison was more like it. It was daytime in this photo.Checked out immediately. The other rooms were probably fine.
