The hotel located along a quiet street but there is a direct city bus stop from Kyoto station thus making it super convenient to take bus even with 1 cabin luggage. Enjoy the room as it's really clean with 2 separate super single bed plus simple kitchenette. The bathing area & toilet are separated too. Looks relatively new thus will be back again.

Nicely located hotel in Kyoto, very pleasant staff and nice rooms. An additional bonus is a special system for drying clothes in the bathroom, which can be very helpful if it gets wet while sightseeing. The bus stop is a few steps from the exit.

There weren’t many dining options around the hotel, but was a 24h open supermarket and bus stop was relatively close by. Hotel was very clean and quiet, stylish, nice layout.

Stay SAKURA operates a few hotels around Kyoto. Staff was friendly and attentive, and the hotel was modern, clean and well-appointed. The room was a little small for our family of four, but the units are beautiful and beds are comfortable. Location is about 7-8 minutes for some convenient subway and bus stops, convenience and grocery stores just around the corner, and a few good food options nearby. Kyoto station is walkable (15 mins).

Room was dirty with hair and trash under the bed. Hair in bath and around sink. Reception area stank of rubbish. Aircon could not be turned off and was noisy. Blind on the window was broken. Room guide book was out of date. A pot and stove was provided but only paper bowls to eat off. Asked reception and was given tiny ceramic bowls, too small to be any use. Room was very dusty, with dust bunnies around the doors and all over the vents. Gross!

Sakura season stay

I stayed in a twin room with my mother. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were firm but comfortable. We loved the bathroom with the different heating and drying options. We hung up our laundry and it was dry the next morning. It was handy having the small kitchenette in the room to make breakfast. There is nowhere to site other than on the beds though so I recommend that you bring your food downstairs and eat at one of the tables in the lobby. There is a small Fresco supermarket around the corner on the Main Street. The number 50 bus stops very close outside and goes directly to Kyoto station. There are more bus options around the corner and the subway is a 7-10 minute walk. A tip for Kyoto, if you want to see any of the main tourist sites (Fushima Inari, the bamboo forest, the Philosopher’s path in Sakura season, etc) without all the crowds I highly recommend getting up as early as possible (at dawn) to visit them. Especially if you want to take decent photos.

Room was very clean and beds really confortable. The shower room was all for shower, Japanese style. We liked this and having the toilet and washroom separate, so 3 people could use shower, toilet and washroom in the same time, being all in separate rooms.. location is close to Kyoto train station with only bus service. We used the free shuttle to get to the hotel from Stay Sakura Guest service, and after we mainly used taxi for the 2 days we stayed there, to save time and since no subway station close by. Overall we liked the room, bigger then in Tokyo and price really reasonable, and we also liked the girls from the Stay Sakura Guest service, who tried to answer all our questions my email and in person, once we got there

Kyoto stay

My stay at Sakura Kyoto Higashi Hongan-hi was a comfortable and a clean environment. I came from Canada to travel a few days in Tokyo and a few days in Kyoto. Although I wish the layout of the rooms were better. Tight kitchen space but specious bathroom. It’s close to convenient amenities like the Fresco (grocery store) and bus (Goji station) and Kyoto subway station. You get what you pay for.

Convenient self-service apartment/hotel in Kyoto about 20 minutes walk away from main Kyoto station. Clean room. Microwave and induction cooker available in the room but no cooking utensils if you wanted to use it. Small supermarket 5 minute walk away. Has a self serve coffee machine in the lobby of the hotel. The reception is only manned during certain hours of the day. Pleasant staff but not very helpful with information about Kyoto area/activities.

The place is in perfect condition, larger rooms than your average Japanese accommodation, very clean and neatly presented. The concept is that there is limited staff in these properties and room service is only provided upon request. Consider the working hours presented in the property details because there's nobody in the front desk out of that schedule. Location-wise, it is very close to the Kyoto Station, 10 min walk, and in the surrounding areas there's a variety of places to eat, and there's a little coffee shop in front of the hotel perfect for breakfast.

Adequate but could have been great

Overall the location and room were fine, and the beds were comfortable. The room was on the small side and we had to move the beds slightly before we were able to open the fridge. The check-in process was confusing as we were instructed to go to a different location to check in before going to the hotel, but there was a receptionist at the hotel so I don't know why he couldn't have checked us in directly. The room is not serviced during the stay, which would not be a problem for me, except that there is no detergent or cloth provided for cleaning the dishes and the kitchen area, and nowhere to leave the towels after use. Although there are a microwave and a cooking element provided there is no pots or cooking utensils so these useless facilities take up space in an already crowded area. An electric kettle was provided, with cups, glasses and small plates - breakfast was not included so we ended up eating cereal out of the glasses, but had no easy way to wash them.
