Staying here was a once in a lifetime experience! We were just steps away from the ocean which was breathtaking to view from lava rock cliffs. Our accommodations really set the vibe for this part of the Big Island. It was very tropical and like living in a rain forest with the greenery and fragrant flowers. The outdoor shower was a refreshing experience ( though an indoor shower is available, this outdoor shower is a must-do). Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided, many little thoughtful touches. The accommodations were very clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They are very passionate about living on this part of the island and eager to share their excitement with you. Breakfasts are delicious! Especially all of the fresh fruit. The lodge is a destination in and of itself, not just a place to sleep after seeing other places on the island.

The staff is wonderful, delicious fruit for breakfast and amazing views. Valerie is a wonderful host at this resort.

We chose this B&B because of its excellent reviews and it's proximity to Volcano National Park. The manager was accommodating by letting us change our room to a larger one because we were 3 people. However there are quite a few things that went wrong: 1. our room wasn't air conditioned- it was hot in August 2. Promised daily breakfast- we got a basket of a few items but it wasn't re- filled on the second day- so we had to go out to buy breakfast on the second day. 3. Very noisy - we had to sleep with the windows open - due to no ac - very loud birds making noise all night. In addition at 4 am both nights a beeping started every minute- the manager said it was the gate. 4. No instructions about how to get provisions, ice, .... 5. They do not come in to tidy the room . You get a clean room when you arrive and that is it. As a result, we didn't sleep both nights we were there. They charged us over $600 for 2 nights and we feel it was a waste. There was bugs everywhere. Thankfully they let us switch to another property.

Great property with even a private rainforest trail. Lots of maintenance effort to make this place a great home away from home. Room is perfect, feel like living in a forest.
