Fabulous, but check-in is painful.

Beautiful property, but needs a little work. Great staff but horrible check in, so slow. Not the staffs fault, just the system they use. Oliver’s restaurant in the hotel was excellent, a must if you like good food. Great area and many conveniences and great food nearby. Great place too if you have a dog.

Love the waterfront, pool area, restaurant, bar as well as the unique Victorian style. Did not like the service of the staff. I arrived and the room was not what I expected or wanted. Tried to change rooms and they said they never had any for the rest of our stay…. Yet I observed many people come, change rooms and new bookings during our stay without reservations… don’t like service staff who lies. Also, staff communication is a challenge … some staff are not well spoken with English. It is apparent their first language is not English. I would not have non English speaking people as receptionist. Husband also noted how unclean room was… mud on floor upon arrival… bathroom wall had dirt up the inside of door. Room was not cleaned.

While there are areas that could use improvement, the overall experience offers good value for money, earning it a solid 7/10. Positives: The restaurant at the Inn on the Lake is a standout, serving delicious, high-quality food at reasonable prices with a diverse menu that’s sure to please. The rooms are spacious, providing plenty of room to relax, and there’s an abundance of hot water, which added to the comfort of the stay. For the price, the inn is not too expensive, making it a budget-friendly option for travelers looking for a decent stay without breaking the bank. Negatives: That said, the rooms, while spacious, are quite dated and show signs of wear, with old carpeting that could use a refresh. The bathrooms, in particular, feel outdated with older showers and fixtures that could benefit from modernization. The outdoor areas could use some attention. The decks are in need of repair, and there are limited chairs for guests to enjoy the outdoor space. The tennis court lacks nets and the pool is not heated. There’s also a septic system nearby that occasionally gives off an unpleasant odor when the wind blows, though it’s not a constant issue and doesn’t always disrupt outdoor time. The location can be noisy due to nearby traffic, and making a left turn out of the parking lot can be tricky because of the busy street.

Close to the city without feeling like you’re in the city. Very quiet inn, nice room. The clawfoot tub and fireplace were unexpected and very nice. Lots of parking. Beautiful grounds.

Definitely needs TLC

Definitely needs updating. The mattress felt like it was original to the opening in 1986. The trim and doors were rough, as was the lack of room in the bathroom. Had to straddle the toilet to close the door. The exterior railings on the balcony had most of the paint peeled off and rot. The brickwork on the grounds around the pool had grass growing between them, from lack of maintenance. Inn on the Lake may have once been a wonderful place, but my first stay is my only.
