This place was awful. We weren’t even comfortable putting our bags on the floor, so I put mine on an ironing board and my husband put his in the bathtub. The TV didn’t work and the curtains were falling off. During the night (which was very loud), cigarette smoke came through the air vent, which we couldn’t control. We would not have stayed a second night even though we booked/prepaid online, except that we didn’t want to waste any of our full single day in Edinburgh on relocating. We just left at 7 am and came back only when time to sleep. One plus was a gentleman who worked there who helped us figure out where to park our rental car.

Really difficult to report problems. Nobody answered the phone. Had to go to reception where the room was changed but only after I dragged my luggage down to reception again. Property looks neglected

Room was stinking of mould. Soon as you opened the door to go into the room the smell hit you. Bed has got to be one of the worst I’ve ever laid on, every hour waking up to turn trying to find a suitable position. Creaked like mad so if you’re in bed with your partner you either wake them up or they wake you up. Best to try and synchronise your hours so your turning at the same time. Marks all over the walls and in places I can only imaging was squashed insects. Mould on the windows, clearly havnt been cleaned for a very very long time. The stairs upto the room were in a sorry state also, paint peeling off the walls and scattered all over the stairs. There was an industrial moister catching machine in the stairwell too which seemed to be going at full speed. We were booked for 3 nights but left after 2 and just headed home. Couldn’t stand another night in the room and especially on that bed. Not usually like me, I could sleep in a Photo Booth outside Tesco on a night out in the month of January with only the fluorescent light to keep me warm and that would be (and was) more comfortable. Can’t believe they have the cheek to pay for parking too. Safe to say I’ll not be back there.

Was comfortable and clean enough. Fairly well situated for access onto Princess Street. Enough parking spaces. Could do with a few more comfortable chairs for anyone using the bar. It suited my needs for a one night visit.

Hotel needs renovating. The lifts had broken buttons with tape. We stepped out onto the top floor to be met with an area of no carpet. Carpet runner still down around the edges. No sign warning or apologising for inconvenience. Bed hard and uncomfortable. Toilet was not cleaned after the last guest. We chose to not eat there, afraid of the cleanliness of the kitchen. We seriously considered moving for our 2nd night in the city. No room service. Only positive, the river walk beside the hotel was lovely.
Top floor large area missing carpet with no sign or warning from staff.

Very tired hotel which seems reasonably clean. Decorated to the minimum. Although great central position in Edinburgh the price is similar to hotels like Malmaison and other which guarantee updated decor and pleasant facility. This is a bus tour hotel with little comfort and mediocre food. I booked a 3 bed family room to fit my trip but on arrival the staff unapologetically assigned a 2 bed bedroom and couldn’t care less with no other options offered. Second stay here and last. Only get 1 pillow per person. Blatantly overpriced for level of hotel. Don’t recommend if you want to have a happy stay.

There were no towels in our bedroom when we arrived and even after making staff aware of this I had to ask again and then collect them myself. In the bathroom there were no hooks anywhere and no towel rails at all- so where are you supposed to hang your towels let alone any of your clothes?

There should be housing keeping because when you have kids it’s not good for hygiene . Especially the garbage to collect from the room and breakfast was late at 7:30 where I feel it should start by 6:30 am because I travel and also I requested for coffee but only 2 sachets I get when I mentioned in the previous morning before leaving for my tour . But a disappointment on the amenities . Not for the stay .

This is the worst hotel room I have ever seen. The room was not clean, the heater was not working, and there was a terrible smell throughout the hotel. In addition, there are no convenient charging outlets — you can only charge your phone near the table, as there are no switches near the bed. Overall, I’m very disappointed with my stay and the poor maintenance of the facilities.

The staff on reception in the day from 9 were really great , the two young lads that we’re working on reception couldn’t be more helpful. It’s a nice hotel but definitely needs updating like some of the others have already been in the Britannia chain. I had breakfast on the first morning but was disappointed so did not on the second, the room was basic, comfortable but didn’t have a plug for the bath so had to use the soap and the room looked tired and in need of a paint job. The two reception staff saved this review really as they were lovely and friendly

The room was clean however there was damage to the wall behind the beds, the staff were welcoming even though the member of staff on reception when i checked tried to get me to pay for my room twice when i had checked in online and authorised payment. One positive was that i could walk to most places, i choose not to have breakfast at the hotel it was expensive at £24 and i found cheaper options elsewhere.
