Great location and ample space in the room. Overall great value and convenience in this hotel.

I was visiting Edinburgh for a conference and decided to add a few extra nights to tour the city and enjoy the St. Patrick's Day holiday. The hotel is connected to a very lively and big bar, but as soon as you enter the hotel and your room, it's surprisingly quiet. The room was comfortable and well stocked, and the front desk staff went above and beyond to help my friend and I enjoy our stay. I am planning another trip soon and will be staying again!

Just steps away from the Golden Mile! Clean bathroom with hot water and tropical soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Marshmallow chocolate, not on the pillow, but pretty darn close. Only wish WiFi reached the room because had to go to the reception for it.

Good location. WiFi could only be accessed at reception area.

Rooms, Decor and overall place is dirty. Reception has a large stain on the carpet and chairs with peeling leather - a preview of what's to come. Rooms had not been cleaned in some time - peeling wallpaper, cobwebs and dirt. This would be great if I was filming a B-horror movie but fails as a place to stay. It has a pub downstairs, which could be nice - but in the morning for the optional breakfast service, everything is sticky. Everything. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. At least the staff was cheerful, much in the same way the band kept playing on the Titanic.

The location was great!

I can't say I wasn't warned, but I definitely had a different image in mind when booking this hotel. I knew there was a bar downstairs but was thinking more like a neighborhood pub - a fun place to have a couple drinks before bed; ok for a family etc .... this is a HUGE sports bar. If you have a family, it is a bit uncomfortable to walk through the courtyard to get to the hotel entrance through throngs of drinking, yelling futbolers. Definitely for a younger crowd. The room and elevators have the sense that a few drunken people have been there and missed the toilets (ie urine smell). I hate to sound harsh and we definitely aren't high maintenance but I guess we are just too old for that scene now :) The location in Old Town is great and it is truly a walking town - a bit far to walk from the train station but otherwise once in old town it is all within walking distance. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants in the area. We took a walking tour with Sandemanns (meet outside of Starbucks at 11 am) which was fabulous. It is a free walking tour - 3 1/2 hours and was REALLY good. the guides work on tips only. Try to get [...]!

This hotel was very disappointing. Rated as a three star hotel it failed to meet expectations on all accounts. Room was above a courtyard where the desk clerk boasted they see as many as 1500 guests on a Friday night. Needless to say the noise in the hotel was excessive as was the fraternity house atmosphere. They also failed to make a 4:45 am wake up call, nearly causing us to miss our flight.

Although the room was clean and it was in a good location, the party (at The Three Sisters) downstairs lasted all night. We never woke up rested. We would hear the revelrie until at least 3 a.m. If you want a good night's sleep, stay somewhere else.

Good location

A little tricky to find while walking but turned out to be a great location, very friendly staff and nice, clean room and everything worked great. Internet didn't work with Windows Vista but there were plenty of internet cafes down the street. Definitly located in the 'hot spot' of town and highly recommended.

Fantastic! It was a WONDERFUL location, very nice hotel, excellent bar attached...had a wonderful time!

The Hotel is in a great location, the room cleaning staff could do better and the bed could be more comfortable, but in general the staff was very helpful and went out of the way to please. could get noisy on weekends.

Bring your earplugs! Or be so beat from travel it simply doesn't matter. They have a huge outdoor TV set that plays Football games all night. Other than that, it's right in all the tourist locations and a block or so from the University. The breakfast was good. The room and building was charming. Even a small balcony to go out on. A nice sized room with a good bathroom. No one should travel without earplugs and an eyshade anyway. You can walk to the train station with luggage from it. The location makes up for a lot.
