This was an incredible place! It is right next to the incredible Canterbury Cathedral. The staff were all so kind and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious I had the smoked salmon on toast. The hotel was a short walk to great places to eat & explore!

Not Great

The walls were very thin, we could hear everything in the room next to ours. There were no supplies in the bathroom (shampoo and conditioner, did have soap). Room was small. The breakfast was terrible, I can’t really say anything besides that to describe it. Location is absolutely fantastic and I think they get away with a lot for that reason, but in my opinion it was not worth the money paid.

Magical Canterbury Retreat for Two

An excellent facility in the cathedral complex which was just what we wanted. We love the cathedral and it is so central to everywhere we wanted to go. At night the floodlit building is magical - photo is from our room window.

The property is gorgeous given it’s located right next to the cathedral. Parking was a touch confusing as the entrance is a 2 way entrance with only a single lane. The security booth isn’t quite within reaching distance. The rooms were adequate, clean but no frill. Feels dated but the lobby and dining option onsite are top notch.

A great room in the annex with views of yhe cathedral. I thought the garden area was particularly nice and a great place for a coffee. Location in the cathedral grounds is ideal. Only draw back very difficult to find the way in by car!

Nice hotel in great location in Cathedral grounds

Very nice hotel right in the grounds of the cathedral. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good. My only complaints are the directions to the hotel and parking arrangements both of which were a tor nightmare. Otherwise a very pleasant stay

Wonderful location, excellent staff, breakfast was good. Hopefully bathrooms will be remodeled at some point. They are not dirty or old but the sizing of the fixtures needs to be addressed.

A great short stay - highly recommended

The location is fabulous - literally inside the cathedral grounds. The staff were so helpful and friendly, they couldn't have been better. The room was lovely and clean, the bed comfy and it felt really nice. There was a good view of the Cathedral from our room, and it was wonderful to be so local to the places we wanted to visit. The breakfast was really good quality and I'd happily stay again. There's a water bottle station on the ground floor where you can refill your own bottles, or borrow a glass bottle for your room. Staying at the lodge meant we didn't have to pay the £17 per person entrance fee to the Cathedral, and we were able to park in the Cathedral car park for the duration of our stay. I had left it quite late to organise parking, and it wasn't guaranteed on our arrival - but we were lucky to be able to park there. It was a £10 charge for the parking, but that is very cheap I comparison to the local public car parking which I believe is limited and can be very expensive (though you can buy a 24 hour permit from the hotel for £12 and it allows you to park in selected local car parks) Getting to the lodges in the car was the only thing I felt uncertain about, and I didn't know how to get into the car park off Burgate - it is the very first turn on the right once you enter Burgate, into what looks like a narrow one-way street (but it is not). It's between the pub and the British Red Cross shop.

Wonderful hotel and people. Just made a mistake in booking an “accessible” room when we didn’t need it, and did not ask for twin beds when we needed them - as Queen size too narrow. Will know next time.

The perfect location to visit Canterbury and the cathedral. Smallish room but perfectly fine for an overnight stay. Breakfast was great and served on the outside terrace on a beautiful sunny morning.
