We chose not to stay at the house after finding several issues with it.First off, upon arrival, the stifling was the first thing to hit us. The house has an AC unit but it was non-functional. I have AC in my own home and confirmed that the thermostat was set correctly and that a breaker and/or shutoff switch was not the issue. This alone wouldn’t have been a deal breaker, however, the house also had the very strong smell of cigarette smoke despite claiming to be a non-smoking unit. Two of the friends travelling with me found it too nauseating to remain in the house for any appreciable amount of time.The cherry on top was the cockroach we discovered wandering through the kitchen.Further inspection of the house found the mattresses to be stained with unknown substances and various other issues of disrepair that could have been overlook were it not for the AC, cigarette smell, and cockroach issues.Upon making these findings, I immediately contacted the host, Elizabeth, who, admittedly, was surprised and offered to have the AC issue investigated but was defensive about the rest of the stuff. She also stated that if we were not comfortable in the place that we were free to not stay there and that she would provide us a FULL refund. This was the preferred option for us so we made accommodation arrangements elsewhere. Despite several follow up messages to Elizabeth, I have not received my refund and she has stopped responding to me. It has been 12 days now.
