I checked into room 201. I was told the heat was not turned on to the room. If I was chilly ask to have it turned on. You’d think they would check it first themselves. Then after a couple hours the TV quit, so was given another room. Room 204, I had to clean the bathtub as it was dirty. Also the smoke detector was covered with tinfoil, not sure that is safe. In both rooms the one chair is in dire straits. Needs either repair or replacement.

Already from the entrance to the main lobby it was dirty and smelled terrible. The room was not only old and not updated but that wasn't important but being clean was. There was a huge spiderweb with dirty walls and the bathroom is better not to mention. Breakfast is included but only what they say otherwise it's an extra charge and my children are not included only 2 adults can have breakfast the children pay and it's not very health I will prefer McDonald's. Heating in the room not even mentioned. I don't recommend it for families. Then it calls itself a hotel but it's just a motel. It says 2 stars but I don't even give it 1.

Breakast was good...a standard breakfast....not much choice, but it was good. Room was in a separate building from the main part. It was dated but very quiet. No elevator. Room had a balcony overlooking the parking area.

The bed was inviting and comfortable after a long drive. My only suggestion would be a reminder for housekeeping to clean the bathroom door.

not so happy

The hotel is affordable, but honestly, we couldn’t sleep properly. There were kids outside playing games on their phones in the middle of the night as if they were regular guests at the inn. You could also hear knocking from the neighboring rooms. It’s not convenient for families with kids since you have to walk to the reception outside. During our stay, the reception wasn’t even aware that I had extended my booking. After the first night, our key card stopped working at the entrance door, so we had to go back to reception with the kids, walk outside again, and get it replaced. When we finally got back to the room, the key card didn’t work there either. It was such a hassle and really disappointing. Hopefully, this review can help them manage these issues better for future guests.

The rooms on the main floor are quite comfortable but both times I stayed there noise from other rooms comes through the vents. Thus time it was music someone was playing continuously in their room. You can not adjust the room temp yourself so the upstairs rooms were too warm and there were no fans. The breakfast this time only had two pieces of bacon on it? When I ssked the front desk about it I was told the breakfast is different from the one advertised on the board that you can purchase. The first time I was there 3 pieces of bacon were on the plate. The upstairs rooms were full of long term guests, and there was debris and garbage sitting in the hallway. One of those guests also moved a mat to wedge open the locked door to the lodge. There was also a key card laying on the side walk. These things did not make me feel safe. If this hotel stopped taking government guests and kept the hallways clean, plus put fans in all the rooms it would be a much more pleasant place to stay. The beds and TVs are nice, as well as side lamps and coffee bags they hand make for the guests. Bring your own tea as that is not supplied. The front desk and security people are helpful.

Pros: good price. Located near grocery store, airport, Polo Park, Assiniboine Park. Comfortable rooms. Cons: rooms facing Portage Ave have lots of street noise. Wifi was not working in 2 buildings (just the building with the bar), generally noisy.

There are two buildings, one seemed nice in the foyer, but we were put in the building across the street, where dirty laundry, dishes, food, were lining the hallways when we arrived, and were still there the next day when we checked out. It smelled bad, and the room smelled of cigarette smoke and urine. When we complained to the manager, she was apologetic, but no compensation offered. One redeeming quality of our stay, was the excellent hot breakfast.

I don't know what property the other reviewers are talking about as this property is nothing like the pictures. Our room was in a separate building. The entry had beer cans & garbage in it and smelt of sweat and urine. The room was dirty, the furnishings were dirty (all chairs had some sort of stain on them), bathroom door was broken so when shut it was very hard to open. Bathroom sink did not drain as there was something shoved into it and when I went to take a shower discovered that the shower had stains in it that looked like pee. Our neighbors partied all night. We did call the front desk who talked to them but also told them it was us that complained. When the staff left the drunken women was yelling about pounding on our door and confronting us. They then went to the bar & returned to bang doors and play music all night. People crawled over the balcony to get into the room. After a night of little sleep we left at 5 am. We realized we weren't getting more sleep and had an 8 hour drive ahead of us. Can't comment on the breakfast as we felt it wasn't worth staying. On check out I started listing the issues and the night manager basically said we should have continued to call. The security guard was standing there and I had to wonder what his job was as why wouldn't he have checked on the situation regularly as he knew there was a problem. The final straw for us was when the night manager said that they likely had unregistered guests in the room.

Very dated rooms and property, strong cigarette smell in the room. Air conditioner didn’t work and was so old wouldn’t know how to use even if it did work! Sketchy area, worried about our vehicle in the parking lot, although they do have cameras and security. Decent breakfast included was the only saving grace. Would not stay here again, even with the reasonable price.

Property needs renovation. It smells bad, garbage scattered in the hallway. We had a non smoking room but reeks of smoke. Needs more security staff, I feel uncomfortable and don’t feel safe.
