I stayed here for a business trip and loved it. The staff was awesome, engaged, joked around with me while I checked in and ordered food. The prices are just right and the burger was amazing. Room was super clean, quiet and bed was amazingly comfortable. Location is perfect with food, gas and shopping within a mile radius. Even after my stay, the management followed up with me to see how my stay went. How awesome is that? Not only did they make me feel valued as a customer but on a personal level as well. Awesome place to stay, highly recommend.
This gem of a Marriott Courtyard has a Starbucks/light meal counter with great food and, of course, Starbucks! The front desk staff is phenomenal and go out of their way to make suggestions for anything you need, including restaurants and delivery menus if you want to stay in. Rooms are reliably Courtyard, and we found this hotel quieter than most- even though it was booked up.
Simple easy and a good hotel. Has everything you need for a few day stay. Good room service n breakfast. This was located close to the university of Delaware as well as main st and town. I recommend this hotel
The hotel was very nice the room was very comfortable the wait staff was very nice I really enjoyed my stay it was so much nicer than embassy suites the only thing is the pool was very small but I can accept that
The lobby offers convenient and good quality food and drink options. However I was disappointed and surprised that my room was not made up on my second day. Bed unmade, towels not changed, garbage not collected. Unacceptable. I've never had this experience anywhere in the world before.
Our daughter is an incoming Freshen at Univ of Delaware. Spent the night with family after a long day of orientation. Great choice for a hotel and location. Very walkable location from the hotel to the Campus. Univ of Delaware covers a broad area, but the hotel was a 10-15min walk (depending on your pace) to the Trabent center, where orientation was centered. Another 10-15min from the Trabent center gets you to the southern portions of the campus. A very welcoming, clean, green entrance from the parking lot to main entry. Came inside and to your right they have the Bistro and to the right of the Bistro is a well stocked bar. A very open, inviting common area dominates the rest of the lobby. A very relaxing place to wait for your room, enjoy an adult beverage (you can take your wine/beer, etc... back to your room as well) or have a Starbucks coffee. Not a full Starbucks menu but enough to get you something you'll like and the prices are normal. Breakfast and lunch/dinner meals ranging $7-$11 are at the Bistro. Not including muffins/bagels. Did not see them earlier otherwise I would have gotten one of the muffins. However, not clear/sure if lunch is offered as times listed started at 6pm-10pm. This may change during the school year? Regardless, when we do come back, we will give it a shot whenever they are open. Speaking of coming back. They have a special program for parents of UD students. Their VIP program is valid for 5 years and get you perks/discounts and other benefits. Offered only at this hotel for UD parents and its free to enroll. They also have shuttle service around the campus. Did not use this service so do not know the extent on how far the van service will go or how often they run, but even if there is a 10-15min limit, you can still get pretty far. Was not aware this hotel opened more than 10years ago, but the room/decor, even the hallways looked brand new. I would have guessed this hotel was a year old or newer. Very happy with the cleanliness of the whole room, including the bathroom. The whole family used the free WIFI and we were on the 4th floor and the connection was excellent even when the hotel was filling up with guests. Noticed no significant downgrade in the speed while web browsing, etc... The beds were very comfortable. Can not say enough about the comfort of the beds. Have found this to be the general rule with Mariott hotels in general. Have stayed at many other major hotel brands and have found Mariott beds to be the best. There is a pool just walking steps from the lobby. If you are exiting the elevators, you simply walk strait toward the pool/exercise area. You need you card key to get in to the pool area. There is a hot tub in there which (at the time) was set at 112F so with the closed door, it was very warm. Towels were provided, but not the big towels you would use in your room. Just enough to dry off and get to your room. If you are planning to visit the University of Delaware either as a incoming freshman or planing to attend the campus, staying here is a wise choice and parents should enroll as VIP member. The closest hotel to main street and again, all very walkable (if you don't mind the walk and the weather cooperates) saving you money for parking locally in town and dealing with local traffic, which is crazy at times. The one drawback I see is getting a room during peak times during the school year, especially during bigger events, I would expect it will be a challenge to get a room and if I do, it will cost more. In my opinion there is a convenience factor for the location/proximity to the campus. However, the location is not close to the main sports area, which are further south. You would need a car to reach these locations.
I stayed over in the hotel during graduation since my cousin was graduating from UD. Most of your staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when we were being checked in and being checked out. The only true problem we had was when we tried ordering food from your Bistro/Restaurant area in the morning for breakfast. I am not sure if you are understaffed over there, but everything seemed rushed and the staff in that department were very rude and felt like they did not want to be there. I am not sure if they were having a bad day or not. I think my experience would have been better if there had been consistency throughout your whole entire staff. I would stay here again, but get my breakfast elsewhere since the breakfast staff did put a little damper on my experience at the hotel.
I have stayed at lots of Marriott Courtyards. This MC is different: it's right on the University of Delaware campus, affiliated with the School of Hospitality Management, not right off a freeway, bigger than normal, and has significantly upgraded food options. The price is a little steeper too. Rooms are about the same. Ours was fine except the bathroom needed some renovation -- wallpaper was peeling in places. Front desk staff are students and all are excellent. Dining at The Bistro was fantastic. I had read about the award-winning crab cakes in other TA reviews. The reviewers were spot on. The crab meat was fresh and flavorful with no filler in sight. The accompanying mustard sauce provided the perfect complement. They were by far the best crab cakes I have ever eaten. The chicken pot pie is also excellent with many big chunks of chicken, carrot, and peas. Main Street Newark is only about a 15 minute walk away. Walking downtown for dinner is easy.
This is a beautiful hotel and I was very pleased with my room and the facilities. I was so disappointed with the lack of communication after being woken in the middle of the night to the fire alarm. While I appreciate the alarm itself in the event of an emergency, it would have been nice to have someone give us some sort of direction as to where to go and what was happening. When the alarm stopped and we finally headed back inside and up to our rooms, I was never really able to get back to sleep. I was never given an answer as to what exactly had happend. Not what I wanted for my "relaxing night away,"
Perfect location to stay for a tour of Delaware Univeristy. Rooms nice and clean. Wifi in the rooms is really poor, so plan on using lobby wifi during your stay. Breakfast was also good and parking is free. Staff friendly and helpful
