Another disappointing stay at a Novotel hotel. It seems that lately, the guys at what used to be a fine chain with a consistent quality service, fail to deliver on their main objective: hospitality. After a smooth check-in I was directed to a cranky lift that took my to a level 9 room. My room was ok, but without the usual curtesy bottle of water that I get as a silver Accor. Instead, I had a note asking me to call reception for a “special treat”. I did as I was asked, and some 30 min later a delivery of poorly taste chocolate cake was sent to my room. No sign of water, or of a working internet connection. I had to go down to reception to ask them to fix the problem, but they insisted that there was no problem. Sure enough, when I went back to the room all communications were down, including wifi and the tv. Another call resulted in reception restating all the network, and at 10pm I was finally able to connect to the world. The shower was ok, but the towels were tiny and smelled bed. After a fairly good night sleep I went downstairs to have some breakfast. In line with my previous experiences at Novotel, the selection of food was decent, but none of the dishes had any taste. The next morning I decided to go outside to have breakfast at a café. While I was out for business, my room, again – as happened during most of my recent stays with Novotel, wasn’t sorted or cleaned. At 8pm I called reception and asked for some fresh towels etc, and was assured that they will be brought upstairs immediately. I’m still waiting for these towels. Excellent location, and decent service. But I had enough with this lack of attention to details and poor housekeeping.
Right in the heart of Wellington close to business restaurants and shops. Service is top notch staff could not do enough for you. Breakfast is fantastic plenty of choice and fresh. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable
We stayed here for our girlie weekend recently, we have stayed here for the same reason a couple of years ago. Nice clean rooms, sadly they don't provide slippers, this would be an added touch, the beds are super comfortable if you like a soft bed. Staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay very easy. The location of the hotel makes for easy walking to the waterfront and all the necessary shopping places that a girl could want. Breakfast could be improved, for a four star hotel the options were very basic and not very international. The coffee that comes with the breakfast (out of a machine that is self-serve is not good).
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms clean and the beds comfortable. The location was central and had elevator access to Lambton Quay, which made for easy access to shopping, eating and a stroll along the waterfront .
Upon arrival we would have liked more information from the reception staff as they didn't tell us where we could park etc; as this was a city centre, parking is at a premium.. After lugging our bags around and then returning to reception we were informed about the 24/7 parking next door ... not the best start to our stay ! The hotel room was spacious with great views across the city, the room was clean and ideal. It is in a good location for the city centre and we would recommend staying here.
I'm an Accor member and am always made to feel just that little bit more special. This time I had to be out of my house for the weekend due to renovations so I explained that I was going to pretend I was in vacation in my own city. They left me a personalised card wishing me a happy Beach themed staycation and decorated the room with lei's and a sombrero and a wee 'beach' of sand and sweels on the dresser with some chocolates. The room was really nice! The bed super comfy and I really liked the lighting in the room. The headboard lights up ! and there is a matching light style framing the TV area. Really nice unique decor. The restaurant was brilliant. We only had dinner there but the service was friendly and well paced. The food was delicious. One of the best pizzas I've had! As an accor member the 50% discount on food is always nice too. The front desk were friendly and efficient. Checking in online makes things simpler. The hotel is on The Terrace but you can access it from Lambton Quay by way of a left that comes up to the back of the restaurant. As Lambton Quay is below the hotel walking down the Terrace and around to it takes time. And it's only downhill one way :P There are many ways to get to the Terrace from Lambton quay but you have to go looking for them. There are signs on some places that let you know and they are more public, but a lift is a lift :) There's a good sized supermarket about 50 metres walk from the Lambton Quay entrance. The Cable car entrance is near there too. Recommend taking the time to go on it up to the top of the Botanical gardens, such a great view of Weillington. There's an observatory at the top too! You can walk back to the hotel through the gardens or take the cable car back. Tickets can be paid for before (going up) and after (coming down) or you can buy a return trip or a multi pass.
Really nice place to stay. I am an Accor member so I do get slightly special treatment but all contact was terrific. Friendly reception, easy valet parking, great restaurant staff and overall great service.
This hotel is conviniently located and all amenities are in walking distance. You have option for $20 (next door public) and $30 (Valet) per night car parking. I would recommend going for valet parking. The morning breakfast is great and if you can get this added to your booking then it's well worth it. From my room I could get a little glimpse of harbour. Only issue was the sound of pipe whenever toilets are being flushed - which is quite loud banging sound and it's annoying. I hope they will look into it. Staff were courteous and polite.
Our room had an amazing harbour view. It was spotless, modern and very tastefully decorated. Our dinner was excellent and breakfast was very good. The hotel is centrally situated with friendly attentive staff.
The hotel is a short walk to the waterfront for restaurants, museums, shopping, entertainment. The staff was welcoming and helpful during our stay. We had two adjoining rooms, which were clean and comfortable. We had the breakfast buffet, which offers a wide variety of options. I would stay at this hotel again.
