Hotel & food was ok. Appreciate parking is at a premium in Wellington, but the parking next door was not user friendly if you did not have a swipe card for the building. It required walking down the vehicle ramp (no footpath) to access elevator.
A converted office building, the lobby and bar lacks personality. The rooms are smart to a very stylised Novotel design, albeit with a small room footprint. Air conditioning controls that are worm and difficult to use coupled with a lumpy mattress led to a broken night's sleep. All in all a very generic hotel with a premium price tag.
Stayed for 2 nights in room 811. Bed comfy, clean amenities and yummy breakfast included. Location good as central to middle of town with elevator taking you down to Lambton Quay. one thing is ask for a different room away from the elevator next time as was quite noisy during the night. like something banging on roof, figured second night it was elevator. All good tho not that annoying.
Great and central hotel ,with lots of choices around the precinct. The rooms are nice a big clean but still found some hair in the Bath room ,which is Common as I also work in the industry . Something which was not normal was the staff which were not at all smiling however, were very professional . During check in there was no smile to say "welcome and how was your trip "or giving hotel information where the lifts were or what time the breakfast opens etc I guess small things make a big difference. Same in the restaurant it was hard to find anyone during the day for a drink and once we were told they can only serve drinks if we were eating !!!So everyday the hotel was looking business from us . During check out same no smile or thank you hope you enjoyed your stay ..hope to see you on your next trip ...it's not difficult to use a few words . I guess this hotel is more foused with short business travellers and ingllecting the leisure market. Thanks again ,a great hotel but show some warmth in a cold city .
Room was very good, functional and clean. Worth paying for a room with a view. As an Accor advantage plus member I was given two welcome drink vouchers to be used in the bar. When I presented them to the bar staff, he looked at us in disdain and made a point of saying that we could only have the house wine. It made me feel as though I was being a cheapskate as opposed to being thanked for being a loyal customer. Not quite sure that this is the effect that Accor intend to have!! It was a Sunday night and we were tired so decided to stay in for dinner. Big mistake! After waiting for what seemed like hours and watching others food arriving before ours, we called the waiter over. Waiter apologised and stated that our order had been lost - however, he assured us that our entree was on its way. The entree was only bread and dips (required not cooking). We waited again for ages, at which point went over to speak to the chef and asked if he needed help to slice the bread and put a dollop of hummous on a plate. Yes, I was a bit over it by now. As a result I cancelled my main course. For a global chain such as Accor, the staff were out of their depth and were unable to run the bar and restaurant efficiently. Needless to say we ate out the following night.
No easy luggage drop off area and parking in separate building next door with step access and no ramps ($20/day). Otherwise convenient location and friendly staff. Meal from the hotel restaurant was ovecooked fish.
Unfortunately we found this hotel a little dis functional . Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights , one of the elevator was broken so reaching your room took some time. The cleaner turned up at 330pm in the afternoon as we got home because management said they were short staffed. I was offered a drink for inconvenience . The next morning our family went down stairs for breakfast , buffet, I asked for an egg on toast , 15 minutes later they gave me a raw egg..as a chef by trade I ask them to take it back and re do it please.. Overall the hotel seemed to be going downhill ...perhaps the earthquake in the region had all staff on the edge of checking out... In future I hope all management are more switched on towards guests needs and timeframes for cleaning rooms better... The Moore family Australian.QLD.
How one or two interactions can ruin a stay. Junior bar staff, out of their depth who wanted to knock off at 10.30pm chose world experienced travellers x6 to be rude and insulting to. Changed their story to defend the insults and lack of service...asked was a Johnny walker bottle ...brandy???, that a 70 YO guest with a lisp had slurred speech. After management admitted they had it wrong....juniors refused to apologise. Hopeless service 2 nights in a row. Everything else faultless....but it's a complete package we expect these days.
First stay in Wellington and the Novotel was everything we required. Close to the shops, CBD and waterfront and my room had a reasonable outlook. Well appointed room, with everything required and expected from an Accor Hotel.
We have stayed at the Novotel Wellington on a number of occasions and when we asked our daughter what she wanted to do for her 21st, she said she wanted to stay at the Novotel Wellington and to go out for dinner in town. I had given the Novotel a heads up and all the staff new it was her birthday and wished her a happy birthday on the day. The rooms are so, so clean and the beds are the best of any Hotel I have stayed at. The breakfast is to die for and the entire experience was extra special. I think any Hotel around the world should aspire to what the Novotel Wellington provides. I have yet to be disappointed staying here. A B|IG BIG thank you to all the team at Novotel Wellington for making our 3 day stay and our daughters 21st extra special. You Rock.
