We stayed for four nights over the Easter weekend and our room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom is tiny but well set up, with washer/dryer. Kitchenette has good basic equipment. Room service staff were very efficient & left little notes saying who had cleaned the room. We didn't have a view but really that didn't matter. Easy walking distance to Cuba St, supermarket, museums and waterfront. We were lucky with good weather but the famous Wellington winds did make the building creak & groan all night. Would suggest you make sure you understand the parking arrangements before arriving as there isn't anywhere to stop easily outside the building and you have to go to reception to get a parking card for the multi story over the road BEFORE you take your car in there. Tight car park, but very convenient (NZ$26 per day). Would happily return if we get back to Wellington.
Was recommended for location and facilities, met all of our needs, washing machine/dryer (though hard to comprehend), micro wave, cook top, TV/Videos (though also hard to work out how to operate). Spotlessly clean and serviced regularly, being down town, on the edge of an old tired part of the city, outlook is not great. Recommend a high floor for possible quietness. If using a rental car, baggage drop off is not easy as no designated parking. Parking arranged across the road at Wilsons Parking, $26 per day, very tight getting in and out.. Good supermarket about 200 metres down the road. Dining across themroad in the Market Place a bit ordinary, a bit of a walk to find decent eateries.
I arrived after reception after hours so it was closed but followed their instructions and was able to get my key easily. The room size was ok. The bathroom was a bit small. Unfortunately I did not notice that the room doesn't have AC when I booked it. It was cold outside but its a multi-story building so the room was quite warm and stuffy. Opening the window helped slightly but not really since there is no real air flow and can get noisy. This made for a poor night sleep. Price was fairly cheap. The location is excellent though. Walking distance to most sites, also close to the airport bus (though the bus was not running during my late arrival)
nice big room overlooking willis street.not too noisy at night.clean and tidy.well equipped.great location.not too much of a walk to the tram car or to the days bay ferry.both free if you have a nz gold card.we were able to leave our bags after checkout as we were not flying till late in the day.
Conveniently located apartment hotel with rooms that are spacious with all the necessary services. Wifi was good, Sky TV great and self check-in a breeze with access code provided by manager to key box. Bathroom is a bit cramped but does have a washing machine for longer stays and kitchen is well equipped with even a small coffee machine. Only small minus point is that doors to rooms shut with bit of a bang so you can hear people coming and going but even on St. Patrick's Day with town absolutely packed it wasn't really a problem and you can contact the manager on duty if there are any noise issues as they have a strict 10pm policy. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We had three nights here. It was clean and comfortable with very helpful reception staff. Our bus was late arriving in Wellington so I had emailed them since the reception closes at 9pm. They were happy to put the keys in a lock box for us though in the event we got there just before 9. The kitchen facilities were excellent and there was a washer dryer in the bathroom so we had everything we needed.
This is a downtown hotel that is very well situated for walking to most places to see. Very close to Cuba street where all the evening action is to be found (restaurant, bars, pubs). We stayed for two nights in a one-bedroom apartment that was nicely furnished, newly renovated with a good-sized kitchenette and washing/drying laundry machine. The receptionists were very pleasant and helpful. Although the reception is only open until 9pm, arrangements can be made for late check-in if you phone ahead. The closet was a very small wardrobe. There was no AC or working fan, so we needed to keep patio door open as the room got very stuffy. This was okay as we were in a high enough floor. It would have been nice to have screens; however, we did not notice any mosquitoes or insects coming in. We enjoyed our stay, would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
We cannot fault the Astelia having stayed there for 4 nights during a heatwave that ended in a tropical storm. There was a friendly reception at check in and our room, on the ninth floor at the back overlooking a patch of greenery and some flats, was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was well equipped with a double hob, mini fridge, capsule coffee maker, microwave, kettle, toaster and drawer dishwasher. We only prepared breakfast there but as there were pans and sharp knives it would have been possible to make simple meals. The big plus for us was the washing machine as we had been travelling for some time and also got very wet during the storm. A cool wash cycle only took around half an hour. We chose not to use the drying cycle on the machine and housekeeping provided a drying rack. Thoughtfully, the hotel provides the washing powder and dishwasher detergent. This is just one example of how most things have been taken into account. You can borrow an umbrella and even a toy box. There is an arrangement with some nearby cafes and restaurants that you can have meals charged to your room account, possibly helpful for business travellers. The bed was very comfortable with nice cotton sheets. As there is no air conditioning we tried to sleep with the windows open but the wind was very strong on the 9th floor and we felt it buffeting the glass. Fortunately a fan was provided. Location wise Willis street is walking distance from shops, supermarkets, restaurants, the cable car, parliament and museums, ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Would stay here again without hesitation.
We spent a week here in Wellington. The location was excellent. Food just across the street at the Capital Market, plus plenty of full restaurants. We went to a lot of museums and walked to each one. The unit was very comfortable. I was a bit warm and the staff provided a fan for our use. Our washer-dryer unit wasn't working correctly before we left so we were able to use the facilities in an open room. Very thoughtful and helpful staff. The bed was comfortable there was a good variety of channels on the TV. With the microwave, stove top and kettle we were able to prepare our meals when we didn't feel like going out. We breakfasted in daily. Housekeeping left notes asking about of needs for housekeeping when our do not disturb was out daily. Very good business practices and tourist advice. We'd stay again.
Fast and performed lift, good positioning at 156 Willis street, room service fair, reception staff are kind and keen to help, good functioning diswhasing machine, perfect and adapting kitchen system. If I have to give an obvious mark, I will give 8/10
