Inn of the Pines

Memorial Day Weekend at Inn of the Pines

The hotel is well located to where we were visiting. The staff is friendly and accessible. The room was nice and clean. The only part we didn't like was the door to the back of the hotel was kept open by patrons opening the deadbolt so the door wouldn't latch shut. We assumed it was probably smokers going outside and this made it easier for them to get in & out, but it felt unsafe.

Heidel House Resort & Spa

Very nice resort for a wedding weekend

We stayed at the Heidel House resort for a friend's wedding. The grounds are very pretty and well kept. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. The wedding was outside and after a morning of rain, they scrambled to get it ready, but it was an amazing place for the lake-side ceremony, an outside social, and a reception in a beautiful banquet hall. All the food we had was delicious, including a Friday night reception in a big tent on the grounds. The cons...it is a spread-out resort so hard to find places without asking staff, and our room wasn't cleaned after our first night's stay, which wasn't a big deal but we'd thrown all the towels on the floor to be exchanged for clean ones. Our air conditioning unit was very loud and kicked on and off every couple of minutes, so we didn't sleep the best. I would recommend this resort if you are looking for a venue for a wedding or reunion. If you're just looking for a place to sleep one night, there are other places out there.
