Econo Lodge Inn & Suites2.5 out of 5.0

This hotel is now an Econo Lodge and with that I didn't expect much but I was really disappointed. The hotel was recommended by family and I didn't have a choice in where I stayed but I can assure you I will never be back. First, they put me in a room on the 2nd floor at the end of a dark dingy hallway with no light, torn carpets and a smell that I couldn't decide if it was urine or stale beer. The room as about as far away from the rest of my party as they could put me (my parent's room on the 5th floor while run down was at least spacious and appeared clean). It look me 20 minutes to find the bathroom light switch and when I did, I found mold in the shower tiles, a toilet that wouldn't stop running, and just a dingy dirty room. I did not feel safe on that floor or in that room so I asked to be moved closer to my parents. The staff were very nice and did move me to the 4th floor. The hallway and room where brighter but still very run down and in need of some serious refurbishment. In reading reviews, they said the breakfast was good but that also was a disappointment. I wasn't expecting a full buffet or anything but the choices were minimal, milk was not kept chilled, and no one seemed to be around. The final straw was coming back to the hotel one night to find what had to be a drug deal going on in the parking lot. This hotel is in need of a lot of TLC as is the rest of the area it is located in. I can't imagine why anyone would stay there.
Quality inn is now econolodge. It was an ok stay for the price. It's,in the middle of downtown so your able too walk around and explore a little. They didn't have a pool and we never woke up early enough for breakfast. Overall for the price it was right.
This is an interesting hotel. It's in the middle of downtown Waterloo. You're definitely not coming here for the scenery... but my wife & I never had any problems, or ever felt unsafe during our stay. The room we ended up in (two double beds, in order to avoid a smoking room) was a little on the small side, but at the same time, was not cramped. Bathroom was fine for us, and the heat worked well. Beds were comfortable, although my wife didn't care for the pillows... I thought they were OK, though. Breakfast included a make-your-own-waffle station, biscuits & gravy (a nice surprise, but could use improvement), and some cold food options -- along with coffee and juice. Check-out time is noon, which was also nice for us. The hotel is supposed to be going through renovations, and we noticed one of the two elevators was out of service. However, the hotel was not very full when we stayed, so it was never an issue. I've seen others refer to this hotel as no-frills, and I'd agree with their assessment. But if you just need a quiet room, and don't need a pool or anything like that, this is a good option.
Their policies on reserving and checking in rooms is utterly ridiculous they make it impossible for you to try and spend money at their hotel front desk Supervisor was very friendly Beyond her and I'm talking about upper management and owner we're very rude.
Live on the road and I stay at quality Inns this is a good.. Quality Inn microwave refrigerator Internet TV all better than average the bed was awesome don't let the lack of decorations fool you as you walk down the hall this is a good quality inn
We wàs up all day travelling from Washington State to back home in Ohio and needed a place to crash,we stopped in Waterloo on a whim and it was a awesome experience,I highly recommend it ,courteous staff, nice room layout, too notch breakfast
I Waterloo over the weekend on business. There was a tournament in town so this was all there was. I can see why. Lobby is dingy, room smells even though there's fresh paint (obvious from the drops everywhere). Had to go to the front desk for towels. Awful insulation means that it's road noise (and train noise). All night long.
We are a basketball team who was passing through. We stepped off of the bus late at night and found a heroin needle laying on the ground! When we checked in they told us that the hotel was under renovation - there was carpet rolled up in the hallways. One of our player rooms found a bottle of assorted pills under their bed. One of the beds was not even in a frame, it was just a box spring and a mattress on the ground! The pillows were tiny - throw pillow size. The bathrooms were hardly clean with blue gunk coming off of the toilet and pee on the toilet rim. There was a bar across the street where there were fights breaking out around 2 in the morning. Was gross, not safe feeling, and we would NOT stay here or recommend this place. Breakfast was the only nice piece to this.
I stayed at the Waterloo Quality in for about 2 weeks almost waiting for approval on an apartment just across the street from the hotel. The room was clean which is most important to me. Unfortunately the phone in room 226 was unable to dial outside. No worries though. The staff was friendly and very helpful. For instance when I checked out I forgot my laptop charger in the room. The next day, one of the housekeeping staff returned it to me. I was so grateful it wasn't thrown away. I wish I could remember the name of the lady at the front desk. She wears glasses and I think her hair is black with streaks of silver pulled back in either a pony tail or bun. Anyway, she is amazing. She's the person you want greeting you when you stay at a hotel. Thanks so much for your hospitality.
We stayed on a Saturday night last minute. Checked in at about 10pm Front desk team was fine. Room had been freshly painted in the last month or so it appeared. The room was hot since the air conditioner was not left on. However, it did work QUITE well as we ended up chilly that night. Room was just fine----it was "quality" not Fabulous. We were fine with the rate and the services we received.
