As a Gold Card member I tend to stay at Candle Wood Suites or Holiday Inn. A couple of weeks ago after staying at CWS for three straights days I decided to upgrade to this Holiday Inn. All I wanted to do was turn on the TV and lay on the bed. TV doesn't work, but they wouldn't let me change rooms until they came down and fix the TV. It was along week and I was not happy, but they would not allow me to change rooms. After 30 minutes I left and to the Hampton Inn and for the first time after over 20 hotel stays this year, the chair was comfortable, the desks were the right height, the room didn't stink and I have stayed at the Hampton Inn the last three weeks and will not stay at a Holiday Inn again.
Weird. Given the competition in Victoria, with many hotels in a small area, it is inexplicable as to why they would run a hotel as they do this one. Usually I like to come down and sit in the lobby, read USA Today, have a relaxing cup of decaf. They do have a comfortable looking lounge area, but it was locked. We asked why. The clerk said that was their policy at night. They use it for breakfast in the morning. So, when I came down with my book to read, there was literally no place to sit except the business room, where there were computers and a desk. But the air conditioning was so loud that I couldn’t read. So, despite the heat, I went out and sat by the swimming pool. The room was okay, but not any better than some of our other favorite hotels. Breakfast was okay. There is just no reason for us to consider coming back here again. This must be a management problem. It will lead to failure.
I stayed here for a single night for business and had no complaints. The room was clean and comfortable and the free hot breakfast was much appreciated! The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful, too!
A pretty good place to stay. The place is clean and well kept. King suite was really a nice room with all the amenities one would expect. The only complaint I have is the staff. They don't seem to attentive or even care about anything going on except for what's on their phones. Still a nice place.
Stayed here overnight whilst travelling in Texas. Were given our room card but when we entered our room there was someone already in bed. Slip up corrected we found ourselves in a very clean and commodious room which could have been anywhere in any town or city. But it was more than adequate and without doubt value for money. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Staff pleasant.
I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful women at this hotel so friendly and accommodating they were willing to work with me on timing and every call I placed to the front desk was answered with an angelic voice my room was clean and kept at a cool temperature after being under that brutal texas sun I highly recommend that anyone looking for a good hotel come here you will not be dissatisfied I have officially booked this place as my hotel when I am I these parts love it love it
We stayed for one night after driving for 6 hours..as soon as we checked in we felt welcomed. The host at front desk was very helpful and pleasant. He gave us recommendation for dinner and was very good..Guadalajara mexican food. The room was excellent and air was cold. Great experience!
Our stay here was great. We were a late check-in and Josh was super polite and very nice. He gave us our room key. Just as we were getting ready to go to our room the fire alarm went off (someone was smoking in their room.). We got to the room assigned and opened the door and discovered that someone's grooming items were left in the room. Went back down to talk to Josh, he gave us another room and all was well. Once settled, we had a great night sleep. In the morning, went down to breakfast, the staff in the dining area were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good and filling. Checkout was fast and all and all it was a great experience. I asked at the font desk, about room 304 and she still said it was a mystery. They saw the people who had the room, leave the room and checkout at the front desk and walk out the doors on video. They still could not solve the mystery of room 304.
Called and made reservations several hours before we checked in. The price of room after AARP discount was 40% higher than a room in Dallas and 25% higher than just the night before. When we arrived the room obviously had not been occupied for some time and smelled. The ACTUAL did not work properly and had to get up 5 times during the night to turn it down. We always stay at holiday inns because of the consistency of price and service. This hotel missed the mark on both. Breakfast was great and staff friendly.
Gem of South Texas Holiday Inn Express and Suites – Victoria, TX For those of us who work the oil patch in South West and South Central Texas our days are spent galloping from one site, one rig, one company to another. Pull in, do our job, then back on the horse to the next rodeo. Holiday Inn has done a great job of establishing the perfect way stations along the way. Each one a classic Holiday Inn – each one surprisingly different in décor and “feel.” So to continue this Pony Express tour the next stop along the way is Victoria, TX. Perched almost equidistant from San Antonio and Houston – Victoria is the gem of South Texas. Sitting at the far eastern edge of the Eagle Ford Shale Play and surrounded by the gas fires of refineries (apologies to Bruce Springsteen) Victoria is the largest of the Pony Express stops – it even has a Mall and more than two stop lights. Because of Victoria’s size – this pony express stop is surrounded by very good restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself is one half mile from the Victoria Mall and all it has to offer. Like all of the Holiday Inn Express’s that I’ve stayed in the rooms are spotless, pillows and beds superb – don’t know where they get those pillows but they are fantastic. Victoria has an excellent pool and gazebo where you can watch the Texas sky bloom with stars. The amenities are reliable; the water pressure is good and the water hot. So as this old sailor turns his Honda prairie schooner North East, heading home to Houston – I leave a place of cheerful people, great sunsets, fine scotch, and a good cigar – until I return next time.
